BIGBANG and iKON won five awards and two awards, respectively, in Japan Golden Disc Awards

[일간스포츠=이미현 기자] Group BIGBANG and iKON made great achievements of winning five awards and two awards, respectively, in Japan Golden Disc Awards. 

In the “31st Japan Golden Disc Awards” whose awardees were announced on February 27, BIGBANG won the best Asian artist award for the first time. BIGBANG also received “album of the year (Asia)” and “best 3 albums (Asia)” award for “MADE SERIES”; “song of the year by download (Asia)” award for “BANG BANG BANG”; and “best music video” award for “MADE”s world tour DVD “LIVE DVD&Blu-ray BIGBANG 2015 World Tour ~2016 [MADE] IN JAPAN”. By winning total five awards, BIGBANG proved their unrivalled popularity once again. 

BIGBANG expressed their gratitude for fans by saying, “We’re really honored to receive these truly meaningful awards and we’ll never forget our first resolution and keep working hard in order to give back to the great love from fans.”

iKON also received two awards: “new artist of the year” and “best 3 new artist (Asia)” award. iKON received the rookie of the year award in this year’s Japan Golden Disc Awards, following the best rookie of the year award that they received in “The 58th Japan Record Awards” last year for the first time in seven years as a Korean artist, to prove their outstanding popularity in Japan. 

By winning the rookie awards in this year’s “Japan Golden Disc Awards”, iKON set an unprecedented record of winning rookie awards in Korea, Japan, and China at the same time. 

iKON expressed their gratitude by saying, “We’re really happy to receive the rookie award which can be won for only once in the lifetime. We can’t thank enough for fans who always support us so warmly. We’ll keep working hard in 2017.”

In the meantime, iKON has been hosting Japan arena tour encore concert “iKON JAPAN TOUR 2016~2017” that began in Osaka on February 10 and 11 to give total nine shows in three cities to entertain 120,000 fans. iKON will hold a Japan dome tour within the shortest period of time of debut as a foreign artist, at Osaka Kyocera Dome on May 20 and at Saitama Seibu Prince dome on June 17.

BIGBANG received five prizes in Japan Golden Disc Awards, including “Best Asian Artist Award”

[스타뉴스=길혜성 기자] On February 27, the Recording Industry Association of Japan announced the awardees of the 31st Japan Golden Disc Awards, one of the most prestigious and time-honored pop music awards in Japan, on its official website. The awardees were selected based on the achievements of artists in the year of 2016. K-pop idol group BIGBANG received total five awards in the 31st Japan Golden Disc Awards, including the best Asian artist awards and the album of the year award. 

BIGBANG received the best Asian artist award which is given to the best singer (or team) of the year in Asia. In addition, BIGBANG’s “MADE SERIES” received the album of the year award in the Asian segment, as well as best 3 albums award in the Asian segment. 

BIGBANG also received the most downloaded song of the year award in the Asian segment for “BANG BANG BANG”, as well as the best music video award in the Asian segment for “BIGBANG 2015 World Tour -2016 [MADE] IN JAPAN”, to win total five prizes in the awards. 

BIGBANG achieved great success with “MADE SERIES” album released in Japan last year and the team’s Japan dome concert tour was also finished in a great success. 

In the meantime, iKON received two awards in the 31st Japan Golden Disc Awards: rookie of the year award in the Asian segment and best 3 rookie of the year award in the Asian segment. N.Flying also received the best 3 rookie of the year award. 

2PM and BTS received best 3 albums award in the Asian segment for “GALAXY OF 2PM” and “YOUTH”, respectively. 

Japan Golden Disc Awards is one of the most prestigious music awards in Japan, which is hosted by the Recording Industry Association of Japan in order to award artists and works of art that contributed to the development of the recording industry for each year. The awardees in each segment are selected based on the sales of records, number of on-line streaming, and number of views of music videos.
