The Japan Gold Disc Awards has announced this year’s winners!

BIGBANG took Best Asian Artist for the second year in a row. They also won Best 3 Albums (Asia Division) for “MADE” and Best Music Videos for the “0. TO 10. – THE FINAL -” concert DVD.

The group responded on winning Best Asian Artist, “All of the members are full of gratitude. After the award in 2017, thank you so much for giving us this award again in 2018. Japanese fans are very special to BIGBANG. We will definitely return, and let’s have fun again with great performances and music when we meet again!”

TWICE won New Artist of the Year, Best 3 New Artists (Asia Division), Album of the Year and Best 3 Albums (Asia Division) for “#TWICE,” and Song of the Year by Download for the Japanese version of “TT.”

TWICE is the first Asian artist to win five awards as a rookie. They commented on the achievement, “We are very happy to receive these big awards less than a year after debuting in Japan last year. ‘#TWICE’ is a meaningful album as our Japanese debut. The Japanese version of ‘TT’ is a meaningful track as it is the first song we sang in Japanese, and we are glad that many people enjoy it along with the original version. We will work hard to make ONCE happier in the future.”

BTOB and BLACKPINK were also awarded Best 3 New Artists (Asia Division), and SHINee won Best 3 Albums (Asia Division) for “FIVE.”

The Recording Industry Association of Japan awards artists based on music and video sales each year. No ceremony is held for the Japan Gold Disc Awards.

Yang Hyun Suk posted to send G-Dragon off after a recent event on Jeju Island, with one photo featuring himself, Seungri, G-Dragon, Taeyang, and Landing International Development Limited’s Yang Zhi Hui. His second photo includes him hugging G-Dragon. He wrote in the caption in both Korean and English, “Last dinner for a while” and “Stay healthy in the army.”

G-Dragon will be enlisting as an active-duty soldier on February 27 to fulfill his mandatory military service.

[스타뉴스 서귀포(제주)=이정호 기자] G-DRAGON’s last official event before enlistment successfully ended under attention from many people. 

On February 25, G-DRAGON participated in the grand opening of ‘YG REPUBLIQUE Jeju Shinhwa World Location’ in Seogwipo City, Jeju Island. 

Along with G-DRAGON, YG’s YANG HYUN SUK and Noh Hee Young from YG Foods participated the event. On the event, G-DRAGON displayed GD Café ‘Untitled’ and bowling pub ‘AC. III. T’ planned under cooperation with YG Foods. 

G-DRAGON and other key personnel appeared at the scene at 3:30 PM. The fans who started to gather two hours before the start of the event supported and greeted G-DRAGON with a big roar. 

As he was repaying for the fans’ support, G-DRAGON who showed up in short hair and a clean sky-blue colored suit displayed cute postures during photo time, and unlike the expectations that he would not mention anything regarding his enlistment, he stated, “Happy new year everyone, I will be back”. 

G-DRAGON had a bright look during the whole event. The outdoor schedules were finished after the photo time, congratulatory message, and the hand printing event. After relocating indoors, G-DRAGON and other key personnel of the event celebrated the opening with champagne. 

The café interior was decorated splendidly with various colors. Although the location is not large, the walls are composed of glass and the ceiling is high, giving the place a high assessment of openness. Collections and artwork painted by G-DRAGON himself were exhibited at the location, capturing the eyes of viewers.  

The café was soon filled with people including not only reporters, but also related personnel and VIP customers. Everyone at the café toasted with champagne, finalizing all official events of the grand opening. 

As if they were waiting for that moment, people gathered around G-DRAGON, and he spent time taking pictures with them while smiling. After spending some time, he moved to the bowling alley. Only key personnel could enter the bowling alley as the place was not officially open. According to related personnel, G-DRAGON dined with YANG HYUN SUK at a black pork restaurant nearby after all official schedules were done with. 

Since it was his last official schedule before enlistment, many fans visited the event. The fans that started gathering two hours before the event filled the entrance plaza of Jeju Shinhwa World. There were also fans from overseas including a fan from Hong Kong who was spotted with a picket that read ‘Jiyong’. 

After all events were finished, many fans and tourists lined up while waiting for ‘GD Café’ to open. The scene proved G-DRAGON’s influence and popularity, that captured not only fans but also VIP customers. 

The café that opened with the event and the bowling alley waiting for its official opening has a lot of meaning to G-DRAGON. G-DRAGON participated from the early architecture designing process to all concepts, design, and interior of the two locations, and has put in hard work and affection. 

Also, at G-DRAGON’s wish to open the café before enlistment, the staff put in their hard work to make G-DRAGON’s wish come true. The bowling alley located next to the café is expected to open after March. The place is also expected to become Jeju Island’s new landmark. 

Meanwhile, G-DRAGON will enlist in the 3^rd infantry ‘White Skull Division’ recruit training center located in Cheorwon, Gangwon Do, on February 27.
