[STAR TALK TALK] “Trainees→BIGBANG→Military Duty” … G-DRAGON and TAEYANG’s Resembling Paths

[OSEN=정지원 기자] Group BIGBANG’s G-DRAGON and TAEYANG are scheduled to start their military duty on February 27 and March 12, respectively. As the two members decide to fulfill their military duty without delay, people are paying attention to their resembling paths.

G-DRAGON and TAEYANG first met as trainees of YG Entertainment when they were 13 years old. G-DRAGON and TAEKWON (TAEYANG’s nickname before debut) first acknowledged their presence by participating in a YG Family Album, and debuted at 2006 as BIGBANG with other members including T.O.P, DAESUNG, and SEUNGRI. The group first gathered attention as G-DRAGON and TAEKWON’s group, and started using the name TAEYANG instead of TAEKWON.

After their debut, G-DRAGON and TAEYANG made BIGBANG into a top-class boy group along with the 3 other members. After their huge success with the song ‘LIES’, the group received the Grand Award in MKMF and Seoul Music Awards in 2007, which was only a year after they made debut.

They have been successful as solo artists as well. G-DRAGON released ‘Heart Breaker’ in 2009, and TAEYANG released ‘Wedding Dress’. The two people successfully created their own unique music spectrum with solo releases including ‘EYES, NOSE, LIPS’, ‘I NEED YOU’, ‘CROOKED’, and ‘Untitled’.

In 2014, the two members formed a unit called ‘GD & TAEYANG’, and dominated music charts with the song ‘GOOD BOY’. In short, they have been successful in group, solo, and unit activities.

As G-DRAGON and TAEYANG, who had strong connections even prior to making debut notice their active military duty starting with a difference of only fifteen days, they are showing ‘resembling paths’. Let’s hope the day soon comes when the two friends successfully complete their active military duty and come back to the public.

[EXCLUSIVE] TAEYANG Receives Draft Notice Following G-DRAGON… Will Start Active Duty on March 12

[OSEN=이소담 기자] Group BIGBANG’s TAEYANG received his draft notice following G-DRAGON. He will start his active military duty on March 12.

According to related officials on February 15, BIGBANG’s TAEYANG will start his military duty on March 12.

G-DRAGON, TAEYANG’s same age friend and member of BIGBANG will start his military duty on February 27, while TAEYANG will follow in 2 weeks. The two people have been trainees in YG Entertainment since they were 13 years old, and their close relationship has been continuing for approximately 20 years.

G-DRAGON and TAEYANG were on standby for their upcoming military duty. YG Entertainment has previously announced that “G-DRAGON and TAEYANG are waiting for their draft notice”.

The two members received the news from the Military Manpower Administration that their ‘enrollment will be in March’. They announced the news of a temporary farewell on BIGBANG’s last concert held last year on December, while noticing a reunion that will soon come. G-DRAGON was taking time-off after his busy schedules last year with his solo world-tour and BIGBANG concert, while TAEYANG was busy preparing for his wedding before March.

It is said that some acquaintances of TAEYANG tried to dissuade him on having the wedding ceremony before serving military duty, but TAEYANG’s will to spend the rest of his life with MIN HYORIN, his first and only lover, was clear and sturdy. TAEYANG did not even go on a honeymoon after the wedding ceremony held on the 3rd, due to upcoming military duty.

TAEYANG also revealed his thoughts through tvN’s ‘Livin’ the Double Life’ on January. He stated, “I won’t be able to meet the fans through concerts for approximately 2 years. I want to present them with all I have on the last concert. I’ll always keep that in mind when I perform at the concert”. He continued, “(Military Duty) It’s a process of getting ready for the 2nd stage of my life. I’ll prepare myself and serve my duty successfully, to become a better man and a better person. I’ll express that into music and let everyone feel it. I want to grow and become a better person”.

It is true that BIGBANG’s vacancy is a bit sad since they hold world-tours with the largest scale among all Korean artists. However, fans from Korea and overseas are sending encouragement rather than empathy on BIGBANG’s sincerity and will to serve active military duty.
