[OSEN=김은애 기자] Group BIGBANG(G-DRAGON, TAEYANG, T.O.P, DAESUNG) renewed their contract with YG Entertainment(YG) for the third time and will begin their activities once again. BIGBANG has already surprised people with news regarding their upcoming performance at Coachella and limited-edition sneakers which shook the entire globe. However, the simple fact that BIGBANG’s new music is coming out is making the global fans’ hearts flutter.
On March 11, YG Entertainment officially announced, “We’ve signed an exclusive contract with members of BIGBANG including G-DRAGON, TAEYANG, T.O.P, and DAESUNG”.
It is the third time BIGBANG has renewed their contract with YG, following 2011 and 2015. The group has continued their relationship with YG Entertainment for 20 years including their trainee period, which is unprecedented.
The K-Pop scene paid attention to the fact that YG Entertainment noticed their wholehearted support towards BIGBANG and the group’s upcoming comeback. BIGBANG has released music loved by people regardless of gender and generations, and it is not an exaggeration to say that they’ve changed the trend of Korean pop culture.
Phrases such as “Music is YG” and “You trust and listen to YG music” began spreading because BIGBANG’s songs laid down the foundation. People can’t simply choose their best song because they have numerous hits including ‘LIES’, BAE BAE’, ‘BANG BANG BANG’, and ‘FANTASTIC BABY’.
As a result, BIGBANG has swept charts and awards with their power of music. Their latest song ‘FLOWER ROAD’, created for the fans as their enlistment present, also set records with the number of listeners in a 24-hour period as well as being ranked at no. 1 on multiple charts.
Furthermore, as the leader of ‘self-produced albums’, BIGBANG has listed songs written and composed by themselves on every album. BIGBANG also actively put their opinions on fashion, stage, and music videos, which proved their aspects as true artists. They’ve led the K-Pop market with music and visuals that led trends. BIGBANG’s role in making the K-Pop scene receive attention from the global market cannot be forgotten.
BIGBANG has received loved from steep fandom worldwide, for quite a long time. BIGBANG is also the first Korean idol group to hold a large-scale world tour. Many foreign celebrities and artists mention and look for BIGBANG as well.
As a result, BIGBANG made a splendid comeback by being listed on the lineup for Coachella, the biggest music festival in the U.S, despite their vacancy due to military enlistment. They’ve been invited to the festival as sub-headliners among global artists including Travis Scott, Frank Ocean, and Lil Uzi Vert. Although Coachella was postponed to October due to COVID19, BIGBANG’s global presence has been proven well enough.
BIGBANG is now planning to begin preparing new music for their comeback in 2020. As they’ve renewed their contract with YG Entertainment, the agency that knows BIGBANG more than any other agency and has continuously supported the group, all that’s left for the four members is to shine on top of the world.

특히 YG엔터테인먼트는 빅뱅을 향한 전폭적인 지원과 함께 새로운 컴백을 예고해 가요계의 이목을 집중시킨다. 빅뱅은 그동안 남녀노소 모두가 좋아하는 음악들을 내놓으며 대중문화의 흐름을 바꿨다고 해도 과언이 아니다. 사실상 “음악은 역시 YG” “YG 음악은 믿고 듣는다”라는 말도 빅뱅의 노래들이 큰 바탕이 됐기 때문이다. ‘거짓말’ ‘BAE BAE’ ‘뱅뱅뱅’ ‘FANTASTIC BABY’ 등 빅뱅의 명곡들 또한 하나만 꼽을 수 없을 정도다. 그만큼 빅뱅은 음악의 힘을 보여주며 차트, 시상식 등을 휩쓸어왔다. 가장 최근 곡이자 입대 선물로 발매했던 ‘꽃길’ 역시 놀라운 24시간 이용자수를 기록하며 각종 차트에서 1위를 장악했던 바다. 
더욱이 빅뱅은 요즘 일컫는 ‘자체제작 앨범’의 선두주자로서 매 앨범마다 직접 작사, 작곡한 음악을 담아왔다. 여기에 빅뱅은 패션, 무대, 뮤직비디오 등에도 적극적으로 의견을 내놓으며 아티스트의 면모를 드러내왔다. 늘 앞서가는 음악과 비주얼로 K팝 시장을 이끌어온 것. 현재 K팝이 글로벌 시장에서 주목받고 있는 부분도 빅뱅의 공을 빼놓을 수 없다. 이에 빅뱅은 오래 전부터 전세계에 두터운 팬덤을 구축하며 많은 사랑을 받아왔다. 국내 남자 그룹 중 대형 월드투어를 개최한 것도 빅뱅이 처음이다. 해외 유명 아티스트들 역시 빅뱅을 언급하고 찾는 일이 다반사. 
그 결과 빅뱅은 군대로 인한 공백기가 있었음에도 불구하고 미국 최대 음악축제 코첼라 라인업에 합류하며 화려한 복귀를 알렸다. 트래비스 스캇, 프랭크 오션, 릴 우지 버트 등 대형 뮤지션들 가운데 서브 헤드라이너 급으로 초청을 받은 것이다. 비록 코첼라는 코로나19 여파로 10월로 연기됐으나 빅뱅의 글로벌 파급력은 충분히 증명됐다. 이제 빅뱅은 2020년 새로운 컴백을 위한 음악 준비에 박차를 가할 계획. 여기에 누구보다 빅뱅을 잘 알고 아낌없는 지원을 해온 YG엔터테인먼트와 재계약을 이어가며, 네 멤버들은 전세계 정상에서 빛날 일만 남았다. 2020. 3. 11.
