BIGBANG reaches out to fans before T.O.P.’s enlistment: Will band regroup years later?

BIGBANG

Boy group BIGBANG is trying their best to reach out to fans before its rapper T.O.P.’s upcoming military service in February. The 10-year-old band has reportedly grossed $44 million in 2016 and has also been rated at No.54 on the Forbes list of celebrity earnings.

In an emotional interview at the Seoul headquarters of YG Entertainment, rapper T.O.P. revealed that they would try to meet as many fans as possible before the break. The five-member band is also preparing for their third LP, ‘Made The Full Album,’ which comprises of three tracks—’Fxxx It,’ ‘Last Dance’ and ‘Girlfriend’ — and eight tracks that were released as singles last year, including ‘Bae Bae’ and ‘Bang Bang Bang.’ MADE is the group’s first Korean studio album in eight years.

Within less than 24 hours after the release of MADE, the group dominated the countdown with topping the charts in 19 different countries. In South Korea, ‘Fxxx It’ and ‘Last Dance’ were placed on number one and two respectively. Internationally, the album is ranked third on iTunes album chart in the United States, while, ranking 5th in Canada. Interestingly, the group’s music video for ‘Bad Boy’ hit a whopping 100 million views on YouTube yesterday.

A slew of on-air and on-stage promotional activities have also been planned before T.O.P.’s departure in February. The remaining group members are also expected to complete their military services one by one. YG Entertainment is said to have packed a tight schedule for the band and they are leaving no stones unturned to make it a success.

Fans are worried about the future of the boys band — will they be able to regroup years later?

BIGBANG made its debut in 2006 with ‘This Love’ and rose to fame immediately for fusing eclectic, hip-hop-based sounds in mainstream K-pop. The five-member boy band — T.O.P., Taeyang, G-Dragon, Daesung, and Seungri — will hold a farewell concert Bigbang 10 The Concert: 0 To 10 Final in Seoul on Jan. 7 and 8 at the Gocheok Skydome respectively.
