BIGBANG holds a fan meeting at an arena in Hawaii… “First Korean artist to hold an arena fan meeting in Hawaii”


[마이데일리=전원 기자] Boy group BIGBANG holds a fan meeting in October this year in Hawaii, for the first time for a Korean artist.

YG Entertainment announced that BIGBANG will hold fan meeting “BIGBANG MADE [V.I.P] TOUR IN HONOLULU” at “Neal S. Blaisdell Center Arena” located in Honolulu, Hawaii, on October 22.

It is the first time for BIGBANG to give performances in Hawaii. Plus, even though there have been some Korean artists who held concert in Hawaii, BIGBANG is the first Korean artist to hold an event at an arena there.

BIGBANG will present a mini-concert and a variety of fun games at the fan meeting in Hawaii, in order to more closely communicate with fans. The special contents of the fan meeting will present special memories for local fans in Hawaii.

In March, June, and July this year, BIGBANG met 110,000 Chinese fans in a fan meeting held in Foshan, Nanjing, Harbin, Dailan, Chongqing, and Chengdu in China. BIGBANG boasted their remarkable influence in the country by selling out all the tickets for the fan meeting. Fierce competition is expected as well for the Hwaii fan meeting whose tickets will be opened for sale on the 19 on “Ticket Master”.

Before the Hawaii fan meeting, BIGBANG will first have fan meetings in Macao on September 3 to 4 and in Taiwan on September 8 to 10. Plus, BIGBANG will hold a concert in celebration of the 10th anniversary of their debut on August 20 at Sang-am World Cup Stadium in Seoul.

Watch: “Girl Spirit” Members Cover The Hit Songs Of 2016

On the August 9 episode of JTBC’s “Girl Spirit,” the girls are asked to cover the hit songs of the first half of 2016.

First up was Cosmic Girls’ Dawon, who put on an energetic performance of MAMAMOO’s “You’re the Best.” Featuring as a special guest was I.O.I member and new Cosmic Girls member Yoo Yeonjung! The two new groupmates showed off their harmony and scored 94 points.

Next, Pledis Girlz’ Sungyeon covered Naul’s “Memory of the Wind.” This song came out in 2012 but continues to remain popular on Korean music charts. Although Sungyeon put on an emotional performance, she was a little flat on a high note and said, “I feel regretful because I wasn’t able to perform as well as I did in practice.” She scored 63 points.

Oh My Girl’s Seunghee performed TWICE’s “Cheer Up” and re-arranged the song to fit her own style. “The original is very cute and youthful,” she said. “But I wanted to show a more mature and forceful sound.” She scored 94 points, the same as Cosmic Girls’ Dawon.

CLC’s Seunghee covered BIGBANG’s “Bang Bang Bang” and even tried her hand at rapping. The performance even featured a surprise twist with Jessi J’s “Bang Bang” remixed in. Seunghee scored 68 points.

Next up, SONAMOO’s Minjae covered “I” by Taeyeon, one of her role models. The performance featured a special appearance by Sleepy, who wrote his own rap for his part. Minjae showed off stable, powerful vocals and a clear, ringing tone and received praise from Seo In Young, who called it her favorite performance of the night. Minjae scored 65 points.

The last performance of the A group was Lovelyz’ Kei. She performed Park Hyo Shin’s “Wildflower,” which was released in 2014 but also continues to be a favorite among listeners even well after its release. Although the song is very difficult, Kei put on a stable, emotional performance and won 90 points.

When the first and second round scores were added together, Oh My Girl’s Seunghee took the crown for the second time on the show!
