Yang Hyun Suk and Mnet Reps Meet to Discuss Attendance of BIGBANG and iKON at the 2015 MAMA

With the 2015 MAMA (Mnet Asian Music Awards) about two weeks away, there still isn’t any confirmation of YG Entertainment‘s artists attending the show, but it looks like now there might be some hope, maybe.

YG Entertainment artists like BIGBANG have been a large presence at the yearly awards show for the past few years, which would make their absence conspicuous, especially since BIGBANG has been very active this year with their successful “MADE” album.

Earlier in October, YG Entertainment had voiced their surprise at not being approached by Mnet about attending the 2015 MAMA. Usually two-months advance notice is needed to prepare for a performance for a large show like this, and YG was concerned that Mnet wasn’t talking to them. Before that, there had been tension between YG and Mnet, due to the exclusion of iKON from the “M!Countdown” music chart.

With only two weeks left, one could have safely assumed that YG’s artists wouldn’t be attending the MAMA, especially with BIGBANG busy with their Japanese Dome tour and iKON scheduled to film a music video in early December. But some hope remains with YG and Mnet confirming that YG head, Yang Hyun Suk, met with Mnet reps recently, to discuss BIGBANG and iKON’s attendance. Both sides are being cautious, however, with YG saying the scheduling will be difficult and Mnet asking the public to wait for second round announcement of attendees.

Watch BIGBANG's Explosive Trailer for 'Made 2015 Concert' Film

K-pop titans BIGBANG have captured their 2015 Made World Tour on camera, with BIGBANG:

Made 2015 Concert debuting on site DramaFever on November 11th. Watch the trailer above.
In the brief, fast-paced trailer, the group showcase the intricate production behind their latest tour. From the complicated choreography to elaborate sets, the trailer previews how the film will capture the immersive experience of the K-pop band's colorful show.

The concert film will be the first fully original production for DramaFever, a site that streams international TV series and movies. It will be available to all users for free, though a sneak peek is now available for premium users.

Mark Haney, the director behind shows for Rihanna and Britney Spears, helmed the production for BIGBANG. The film will explore the tour both onstage and off, showing the hefty production that filled massive venues like Madison Square Garden.

"The ability for music to cross barriers and transcend culture is undeniable," DramaFever president Suk Park said in a statement. "It's one of the reasons K-pop has become a global phenomenon. As one of the biggest and most unique acts, BIGBANG has set itself apart as the vanguard of the genre. This is why BIGBANG: Made 2015 Concert is our first foray into original programming."

DramaFever currently features a primer on the boy band, comprised of members G-Dragon, T.O.P., Taeyang, Daesung and Seungri. Episodes of the documentary BIGBANG: The Beginning about the band's roots are now available to stream on DramaFever.

BIGBANG formed in 2006, though their 2015 LP Made is the group's first album in three years. The Made World Tour was the boy band's second world tour and launched in April. They're currently on its final leg in Asia and will wrap up the trek in February.
