BIGBANG Becomes the First Korean Pop Artist to Make it on Forbes Celebrity 100 List

[동아닷컴=전효진 기자] BIGBANG made it on this year’s Forbes Celebrity 100 list. They are the first K-Pop act to land on the list.

On July 6, Forbes published an article titled, “Bigbang Theory: How K-Pop’s Top Act Earned $44 Million In A Year”.

The article describes the scale of BIGBANG’s 2015 US concerts and the profit they made from them. According to the article, BIGBANG made $44 million pretax last year. This is by far the biggest profit made among boy bands that hold arena concerts in the US and even surpasses the earnings of Maroon 5, which stands at $33.5 million.

BIGBANG’s leader G-DRAGON said during their interview, “We made more than Maroon 5? Did not know that. My mom is in charge of my earnings.”

The official Forbes Celebrity 100 list will be announced on July 12, and the article about the list will be published on July 26.
