[OSEN=선미경 기자] From CEO YANG HYUN SUK to BIGBANG, again to iKON and WINNER’s SONG MINHO. The musicians who represent YG Entertainment received honorable awards at the same time in one music award. With BIGBANG who got five awards and iKON who took the “best rookie of this year” award, YG Entertainment’s unrivalled potential has been proven once again.
“The 5th Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards” was hosted on the 17 this month at 7pm at Olympic Hall of Olympic Park in Bangi-dong, Songpa-gu, Seoul. Despite the presence of many popular singers and music industry insiders, BIGBANG stood under the biggest spotlight. BIGBANG has showed off their “unsurpassable class” in the music market during the year 2015.
In the awards, BIGBANG swept the best singer of this year awards for the on-line music section for May to August of the year 2015. Plus, BIGBANG also received the “Yinyuetai Asia best influence award”, to receive total five awards. Every time BIGBANG came upon the stage, they expressed their gratitude for fans and YG staff.
BIGBANG said, “We carried out the ‘MADE’ series during last year, and we’re really grateful that many people loved our songs for which we worked on for a long time. We really thank you. Our deepest thanks go to TEDDY who did his best for us, as well as president YANG”. SEUNGRI added, “I really thank fans, too. I also want to thank myself. It is really hard to live as BIGBANG in this tough world”.
DAESUNG honored fans by saying, “It is not easy to live as a musician, so I thank fans who made that possible”. G-DRAGON said, “We’re really honored to receive these awards as the musician who represents each month. We came back last year after three years of absence and we released new songs every month. That was a big challenge and mission for us as well. Thank you”.
It was a touching moment when world-famous singer PSY received the award. PSY received the best singer of the year award for December of 2015, for “DADDY”. PSY said, “It always feels so good to receive an award. Thank you. I wasn’t a good student, so I received no prize when I went to school, but I received all these awards as a singer. I personally feel so good that I raised the average age of awardees today. I’ll see you again soon”.
iKON also received two awards: the best singer of this year award for September of 2015 for “MY TYPE”, as well as the rookie of the year award. That proved iKON’s exceptional success as a rookie group. iKON expressed their gratitude by saying, “We really thank you for giving this great award. We want to be someone who is the best for the people who love us and whom those people can take pride from. We’ll keep working like crazy, to become the best without fail”.
Following BIGBANG and WINNER, SONG MINHO received an award as a solo artist, not as a member of WINNER. SONG MINHO received the best discovery of this year award for the hip-hop segment. SONG expressed his gratitude by saying, “I thank you for giving me this great award. Last year, I was here with the other WINNER members and now I’m here alone. I feel new and fresh. I thank president YANG HYUN SUK”.
Finally, YG’s president YANG HYUN SUK received the best producer of this year award, culminating the celebration of YG’s great achievements for the year 2015. YANG did not come upon the stage, but all YG artists who were present there gave their congratulations to YANG on the stage. BIGBANG’s SEUNGRI and G-DRAGON drew attention by giving words of gratitude on behalf of YANG, saying, “First of all, this award is like the final goal for any musician after they work hard and reach a certain stage in their career. I always want to follow the example of president YANG, as he always leads us and cares about us with such a strong leadership. I want to express big gratitude to him on behalf of all YG artists”.
BIGBANG dominated the music scene last year by releasing new songs every month from May to August. Then, iKON followed BIGBANG to record a big success. SONG MINHO established his firm status as a talented rapper by successfully competing in cable channel Mnet’s “Show Me the Money 4”. World-class star PSY’s comeback was also the hottest topic for the music scene last year. Such big success of YG for the last year was possible because of hard-work of president YANG HYUN SUK and all YG artists. The hard-work of all YG family members was rewarded by the 10 awards given to them.
“The 5th Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards” was attended by top K-pop stars including PSY, BIGBANG, Super Junior, TaeYeon, EXO, ZICO, BTS, iKON, VIXX, SONG MINHO, miss A, AOA, Red Velvet, Baek A-yeon, etc.

[OSEN=선미경 기자] BIGBANG won four Artist of the Year Awards.
BIGBANG won the Artist of the Year Award (Song) for May to August at the fifth Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards, which was held at the Olympic Hall in Bangi-dong, Seoul on from 7 PM on February 17.
For their acceptance speech, members said, “Our ‘MADE’ series albums came out last year, and we were happy that so many people loved the albums since we have worked so hard to make them. Thank you all. We’d also like to thank TEDDY and Mr. Yang, who helped us the most.”
BIGBANG also won the Artist of the Year Awards for June, July and August with their “BANG BANG BANG”. SEUNGRI said, “I’d like to thank the fans. And, I would also like to thank myself, which I haven’t done in a long time. BIGBANG doesn’t have it easy in this harsh world.”
DAESUNG thanked the fans saying, “It’s not easy to be able to do music for ten years.” G-DRAGON said, “It’s a great honor to receive four awards. Since our comeback was made after a three-year break and we had to release new singles every month, it was a big challenge for us. Thank you all.”
Meanwhile, top K-Pop stars such as Red Velvet, Mad Clown, Miss A, Bangtan Boys, Baek A-yeon, B.A.P, BIGBANG, Seventeen, So Chan-Whee, SONG MINHO, Super Junior, PSY, iKON, AOA, EXO, MC Mong, Girl Friend, Lee Ae-ran, Zion. T, Zico, Taeyun, and Hyukoh attended the fifth Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards.

[스타뉴스=윤성열 기자] In this digital age, a myriad of songs is being released every day. But it’s hard to find anything new and fresh. BIGBANG, a group that has continuously grown as artists for the past ten years, is different. They have shown that Korean musicians can also do unique high quality music.
-Ten years have passed since your debut. Your MADE album will be released soon, and so, in many ways, fans have high expectations for this year. What are your plans for this year?
▶(G-DRAGON) We haven’t worked out the details yet. We have the big picture, but since this year is the 10th year of our debut and we think that this year is special in many ways, we want to take some time before making any decisions. It could an album or a concert. We just want to make this year meaningful for us and for the fans.
▶(TAEYANG)Following last year, we are doing our MADE tour, and the last concert will be held in Seoul in March. If possible, we would like to release the MADE album this year and then start another project. 2016 marks the 10th anniversary of our debut, and we would like to hold a concert to celebrate this special year.
▶(T.O.P) We are making preparations for various things. Keep checking us out.
▶(DAESUNG) The biggest goal of this year would be to complete the MADE album. We are thinking about doing a variety of things, such as holding a concert, to celebrate our 10th anniversary with our fans.
▶(SEUNGRI) I want the MADE series to end in success.
  
-BIGBANG members will have to serve in the military soon. Do you talk about the future of BIGBANG amongst yourselves?
▶(G-DRAGON) We deliberately avoid talking about that. We like living in the moment, and we don’t have time to talk about anything else. One thing is sure through, and that is a brighter future awaits us. Like it always was, we believe that tomorrow will be better than today, and we act on it.
▶(TAEYANG) I’ve said this often, but we want to do music and perform until the day comes when we think that we don’t look cool on the stage anymore.
▶(T.O.P) I am always positive about the future and make plans accordingly.
▶(DAESUNG) It’s true that all five of us will have to serve in the military soon. That’s why us performing on the stage is all the more meaningful these days. I want to continue to do music after I get discharged but there aren’t any specific plans yet.

  
-Your labelmate, iKON has won the New Artist of the Year Award. How do you feel watching your junior labelmates grow?
▶(G-DRAGON) I think of my seniors, and I think I know how they felt. I just think they are cute, and I want to take them out and treat them to dinner.
▶(SEUNGRI) iKON works really hard. I hope things go well for them.
▶(T.O.P)I am so proud of them.
▶(DAESUNG) I’ve known WINNER and iKON members since they were trainees. I’m so happy to m do so well. It’s just the beginning for them, so I hope they will work harder and enjoy themselves at the same time. I also think because we are seniors to them, BIGBANG should set a good example.
-Lastly, any words to the fans?
▶(G-DRAGON) Thank! You! So! Much! From the bottom of my heart!
▶(TAEYANG) All five of us were able to stay as BIGBANG and perform on the stage during the past ten years thanks to your unwavering love. There are no words to describe how thankful we are. Thank you. I love you all.
▶(T.O.P) I’m always thankful to our fans. I love you!
▶(SEUNGRI) We will repay your love by working hard this year!
▶(DAESUNG) I just want to say “Thank you and thank you”. People say this all the time but recently, I’ve been thinking about the true meaning of thanking someone and saying thank you more often. Thank you for everything you have done for us so far. We will continue to do music and make music that will stay in your mind and soul. Thank you for loving us five common guys and we love you just as much.
