[SC Review] “Please Take Care of My Refrigerator” show’s unprecedented and best “world-class” funny scenes created by GD & TAEYANG

In JTBC’s “Please Take Care of My Refrigerator” show aired on August 31, BIGBANG’s G-DRAGON and TAEYANG appeared as guests together. It was the first-ever appearance of an YG artists in a TV show of a non-terrestrial broadcaster, so the two’s appearance in the show drew big attention from early on. According to insiders, GD and TAEYANG themselves strongly wanted to appear in the show, as they are big fans of it. In last week’s episode of the show, Hong Seok-Cheon, one of the chefs of the show, said, “BIGBANG’s G-DRAGON and TAEYANG are big fans of ‘Please Take Care of My Refrigerator’ show. They really wanna appear in this show.”

As the two are the members of “world-class” idol group BIGBANG, they boasted “world-class” wits in the show. In the opening part, MC Jung Hyeong-Don introduced G-DRAGON and TAEYANG who are the most famous fashionistas in Korea’s entertainment scene by saying “Now they have really come. I think their fashion today is so-so.” Then, G-DRAGON mentioned his past connection with Jung in funny way, saying, “I’m G-DRAGON, Jung Hyeong-Don’s ex.” G-DRAGON went on to say “I’ve been watching this show so far, but I didn’t realize the fact that this show has Jung as the MC, as I was totally not interested in him”, making viewers burst into a big laughter.

TAEYANG and G-DRAGON’s exposure of each one’s weaknesses also brought about a big laughter from viewers. TAEYANG revealed the fact that G-DRAGON has a big mouth, saying, “G-DRAGON has a really big mouth. If you want everyone to know about your secret and when you want your secret to magnify, GD is the one to talk to.” TAEYANG went on to say, “G-DRAGON’s mouth used to be big like a whale, but recently, his mouth is as big as that of a dolphin, I guess”. G-DRAGON began his counterattack, saying, “TAEYANG is a good guy so I don’t think he has any weakness, but there is one thing I’d like to mention. Snacks are offered at the waiting room for our concert tour, and TAEYANG puts all those snacks in his bag one by one. An assortment of cup noodles are also prepared for us at the waiting room, and when you cannot find out them in the room, you should look into TAEYANG’s bag”.

The parade of funny scenes continued after unveiling TAEYANG’s refrigerator. When Jung Hyeong-Don found out rubber gloves in TAEYANG’s refrigerator, Jung teased TAEYANG by asking him, “Aren’t those gloves for her?”, targeting actress Min Hyo-Rin who is TAEYANG’s girl firend. When TAEYANG got embarrassed and stammered “I don’t know why they are there”, Jung looked at G-DRAGON who is known to “have a big mouth” and said “If anyone knows about the secret of these rubber gloves, please let us know”, to make TAEYANG nervous.

G-DRAGON and TAEYANG’s funny criticism toward each other that “G-DRAGON has a big mouth” and “TAEYANG is like a poor guy”, broke the two’s exiting image as charismatic world-class idol singers and made viewers of the show burst into big laughter. The chemistry between Jung Hyeong-Don and G-DRAGON who had performed together at the music festival of MBC’s “The Infinite Challenge” show was also enough to captivate the viewers. [Yesterday TV] TAEYANG in “Please Take Care of My Refrigerator”, an unlikely food addict… Showing off unexpected appeal

[OSEN=??? ??] BIGBANG’s TAEYANG showed off his limitless appeal. He is a top idol singer who boasts perfect charisma on the stage, but he became like a friendly boy in the neighborhood, who is often teased by his friends.

In JTBC’s “Please Take Care of My Refrigerator” show aired on the 31 in the evening, chefs competed with food stuffs from the TAEYANG’s refrigerator. Before the competition, TAEYANG and G-DRAGON exposed each one’s weaknesses. TAEYANG started off, saying “G-DRAGON has a really big mouth”. TAEYANG went on to say, “If you want everyone to know about your secret, and when you want your secret to magnify nationwide, G-DRAGON is the one to talk to”. Then, G-DRAGON began his counter-attack. G-DRAGON said, “It is not actually his weakness, but I frequently see TAEYANG eating alone. He packs snacks prepared at the waiting room for our concert tour in his bag”, unveiling an unexpected character of a world-class idol singer.

G-DRAGON’s exposure did not end there. He added, “If you cannot find out the most delicious cup noodles in the waiting room, you should look into TAEYANG’s bag”. TAEYANG got embarrassed and finally confessed “Yes, I’m a food addict”, showing off his cool and easy-going character.

Then, TAEYANG said that he is very interested in cooking. He went on to unveil the food stuffs in his refrigerator, saying that he does not like to mix ingredients together. TAEYANG continues to boast his unexpected appeals. Even though he is a picky eater who prefers organic ingredients, expired sausages and sauces were discovered in his refrigerator, disclosing TAEYANG’s laid-back character. TAEYANG went on to say that he always brings an electronic rice cooker when he goes on overseas concert tour because he prefers Korean traditional food, but G-DRAGON attacked TAEYANG once again by saying, “He brings the cooker but I’ve never eaten any rice cooked by him”. The remark by G-DRAGON further strengthened TAEYANG’s image as a “food addict”.

Plus, TAEYANG was innocently teased by the two MCs of the show, making viewers laugh to see his clumsy aspect. Looking at TAEYANG eating foods prepared by the chefs of the show, MCs began to tease him by saying “You know, TAEYANG does not share his food with others”, and “You know, he never asks others to eat together”. TAEYANG got embarrassed and stammered, “Do I have to share with you? I thought it was prepared only for me”, which made viewers of the show wear a natural smile. MCs continued to tease TAEYANG as a “big eater”, and TAEYANG complained, “I was teased as a loner even though I ate a lot, so I think appearing in this show is no good for me”.

TAEYANG captivated viewers by unveiling his unlikely appeals that have been hidden so far. His new nickname of cute “food addict”, his innocent character revealed by G-DRAGON’s exposure that TAEYANG puts snacks in his bag at concert tour, as well as TAEYANG’s bold and rather clumsy character felt fresh for viewers. One thing sure is that TAEYANG’s appearance in “Please Take Care of My Refrigerator” was an advantage for him, not a disadvantage.

“Please Take Care of My Refrigerator” show is a cooking competition in which guests’ refrigerators are taken to the studio and chefs cook with foodstuffs from those refrigerators. It is aired on every Monday at 9:40pm.

During a recent interview, Kwanghee gushes about his experience asHwangTaeGee with BIGBANG’s G-Dragon and Taeyang. He says, “I feel so great. I got to sing a new musical genre that I never got to sing as a ZE:Amember. It was a great experience for me. A great chance for me to work hard and show everyone that I’m a singer.” He adds, “It’s so amazing to get to know G-Dragon and Taeyang whom I’ve been such a fan of.” When asked if they still keep in touch, he responds right away, “Yes, we can’t lose touch. We’re getting together soon.”

Through “Infinity Challenge Music Festival 2015,” Kwanghee was able to make himself more widely known as a new cast member of the show. Is he feeling more at home with the show? To that question, Kwanghee says, “The pressure is still there. I haven’t done enough yet. I only got to be on the Classic, the Delivery, and the Music Festival. I’m always nervous.”

Even after landing his spot on “Infinity Challenge,” he has continued working on other shows like KBS 2TV’s “Vitamin,” EBS’s “The Best Recipes,” KBS W’s “Beauty Bible 2015,” validating his nickname, “Variety Show Idol.”

When asked if he has a desire to be on even more popular programs, he replies,”I believe in loyalty. Other producers have complimented me saying how funny I am since I started to appear on ‘Infinity Challenge.’ I’m more motivated to work harder on other programs thanks to ‘Infinity Challenge.’ However, I do feel the pressure. I’m afraid the producers of other shows I’m on might think I’m not performing my best compared to my work on ‘Infinity Challenge.’”

He briefly touches on the topic of being in a slump. “The tables turn quickly in the world of variety shows. People wonder if I’m not popular anymore if I stop appearing on popular programs. I wouldn’t call it a slump, but I did have a tough period in my life. I had to appear happy and positive all the time, but I couldn’t stand being compared to other successful peers.”

Speaking of working as a singer versus working as a variety show star, Kwanghee notes, “These two fields are so different, yet I feel like I can find my own niche while focusing on doing good work. I started out as an idol star, but I have more fun when I emcee or appear on variety shows. I feel more alive when I’m emceeing. I also feel energized when I work with members who started out at the same time as me.”



He also conveys his heartfelt gratitude toward ZE:A members who cheered him on during “Infinity Challenge Music Festival 2015.” He says they really enjoyed the show and even suggested that we get back together to do a similar song. However, he concludes by saying that the nine member group has quite a different style that is uniquely their own.

Meanwhile, Kwanghee’s first episode of “Beauty Bible 2015” for the second half of the year will air on September 15. Kwanghee is an integral part of the show as he emcees along with model Kang Seung Hyun and Secret’s Hyosungsharing his beauty know-hows.
