After BLACKPINK made history as the first all-female K-Pop group to perform at Coachella Music & Arts Festival, the K-Pop domination continues as BIGBANG has been announced as one of the performers for the annual music fest.
The group, who went on hiatus since 2017 after members T.O.P, G-Dragon, Taeyang, and Daeyang entered the compulsory military service, is set to mark their live comeback this year via Coachella.
Based on the official website of Coachella, the group will perform for two weekends — one on April 10 and another on April 17.
The announcement came as no surprise to V.I.Ps as T.O.P shared on Instagram a teaser of their appearance last Thursday, January 2.
BIGBANG, which first debuted in 2006, is the group behind hits “FANTASTIC BABY,” “BANG BANG BANG,” “Bad Boy,” and “Haru Haru,” among others.
Epik High, a South Korean alternative hip-hop group which performed in Coachella back in 2016, joins this year’s lineup as well.
The three-member group will perform on April 12 and 19, respectively.
Meanwhile, BLACKPINK performed at Coachella last year.

The world-leading Coachella Valley Music And Arts Festival is back with the much-anticipated lineup announcement for its upcoming 2020 edition. Returning to the Empire Polo Club in Indio, Calif., across two weekends—weekend one takes place Friday, April 10, through Sunday, April 12; weekend two takes place Friday, April 17, through Sunday, April 19—Coachella 2020 will feature headlining performances from the recently reunited Rage Against The Machine (Friday), hip-hop giant Travis Scott (Saturday) and R&B avant-gardist Frank Ocean (Sunday). Coachella, the most successful reoccurring festival franchise, is known for its wide-spanning annual lineups, which regularly predict and solidify music trends while also reflecting the current state of the industry. This year’s artist roster continues the trend.

The big reunion at Coachella 2020 is the return of Rage Against The Machine, who last performed at the festival in 2007 and last played together as a group in 2011. Elsewhere, K-pop fans worldwide are ecstatic for the return of South Korean boy band BIGBANG, who are reuniting as a group for the first time since 2018, the year the act went on official hiatus after some of its members enlisted in their homeland’s military and another member retired from the entertainment industry amid criminal and legal investigations against him. The BIGBANG booking continues Coachella’s expansion into K-pop, which last year welcomed BLACKPINK as the first K-pop girl group to perform at the festival.
The biggest surprise act to wow Coachella fans is Danny Elfman, the former Oingo Boingo frontman who’s since become a film and TV score composer virtuoso. (You might know him best as the man behind the everlasting theme song of “The Simpsons” as well as the scores and music for major blockbuster films like Planet Of The Apes (2001), The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993), Pee-wee’s Big Adventure (1985) and many others.) While Elfman may be the odd man out at this year’s lineup, he joins fellow film score composer Hans Zimmer, who performed at the festival in 2017, in Coachella history.

Coachella 2020 lineup is revealed officially. But one of the most surprising and hypes names on the Coachella 2020 lineups is BigBang. Yes, this K-Pop boy group is going to perform this year at the musical festival.
So it is good news to BigBang fans because the k-pop group will have a big comeback this year. BigBang fans are very surprised and happy to lineup for Coachella 2020 because well the BigBang is in the lineup of performers. Their schedule of performance will be on April 10 and 17 and fans are ecstatic since it’s going to be their comeback. The K-Pop group has been on hiatus since 2017 when most of the members participated in the mandatory military enlistment.
Taeyang even posted the Coachella lineup poster on his official Instagram handle. While most of us are happy to “k-pop Kings” perform again but it is also going to be a bittersweet moment since the original group of five will now be only four.
Seungri already left the BigBang group and its agency after his alleged scandals. So, since the remaining members are G-Dragon, T.O.P, Taeyang, and Daesung. Let’s expect that it’s just four of them to perform from now on. It is sad to see that BIGBANG is no longer complete but right now fans are just so grateful that BigBang will still perform and make a comeback even with one fewer member.
There are so many controversies that were thrown at BIGBANG but no one can deny that they are one of the best k-pop performers out there. Coachella 2020 is a very big comeback since they will perform internationally. Last year Black Pink performed in Coachella too and it was very successful. There’s this dumb thing I do every year: Coachella unveils its poster, and I write a way-too-long thing about all the little narratives hidden in that lineup, and in the way the poster lays that lineup out. It’s not something you should take too seriously, but I love the way this festival — the biggest of them all in America — gets cold-blooded and mercenary with its font-size discrepancies and its lineup placements. Every year, that poster shows us an of-the-moment music-business pecking order, or at least the music-business pecking order as it’s perceived by the extraordinarily successful festival bookers at Goldenvoice.
Coachella’s lineup also gives us a pretty good idea of what we’re going to see during the entirety of the American 2020 festival season, since most American music festivals are now slight, off-brand versions of Coachella. This year, a bunch of those festival have already unveiled lineups. But Coachella remains the big dog, the ruler by which all others are measured. Nobody cares about the font sizes in the Shaky Knees or Hangout posters. Coachella still matters.
This year’s lineup is out now. So let’s get into this year’s stories.

7. BIGBANG! The coolest thing about this year’s lineup might be the inclusion of K-pop overlords BIGBANG. You could make the argument that the group is the most important boy band of the last decade, though One Direction might have something to say about that. (Calling it now: The reunited One Direction will headline Coachella 2027, and it will be lit. We will dance all night to the best song ever.) Coachella got BLACKPINK to play last year, and this one is a bigger, cooler deal than that.
BIGBANG made a lot of extremely catchy music and a lot of wild, vivid music videos during the mid-’00s. Then they went on hiatus so that the members of the group could serve their compulsory South Korean military service. They’ve finished that, and now they’re back. K-pop moves fast, so it could be tough for a group even as big as BIGBANG to come back. But leader G-Dragon is a maximal pop futurist of the highest order, and he knows the power of a big stage.
