From Inifinite Challenge to Show Me The 4, YG’s Music Selling Power is Indeed “mapsosa”

[Oh!Ssen Focus] From Inifinite Challenge to Show Me The 4, YG’s Music Selling Power is Indeed “mapsosa” (an exclamation of surprise in Korean)

T
[OSEN=??? ??] It is “mapsosa” indeed. The songs made for the Music Festival of MBC’s Infinite Challenge are sweeping the charts once again. On top of this, the songs of Mnet’s Show Me The Money 4 have been high on the charts for quite a while now. YG Entertainment is at the center of this latest trend on the charts.

The songs of Infinite Challenge’s Yongdong Highway Music Festival were officially released right after the festival was aired on August 22. Upon release, they are rocking major Korean charts such as Melon, Genie, and Bugs Music. “MAPSOSA” by Whangtaiji (Kwanghee & GD & TAEYANG) is competing with Park Myeong-su & IU’s “Leon” for the No. 1 spot.

“MAPSOSA” is an upbeat hip hop song made by Teddy – a producer at YG Entertainment – and GD. It is about the close friendship between the three members of Whangtaiji, who are all of the same age born in 1988. “MAPSOSA” is the hook part of this addictive song, and it catches the ear of the listener and lifts up the mood.

BIGBANG is surely doing well at Infinite Challenge’s Music Festival, and so is SONG MIN HO on Show Me The Money 4. At the semifinals aired on August 21, SONG MIN HO was put up against Black Nut, and he performed “FEAR” on the stage with the help of TAEYANG for the vocal part.

“FEAR” is about the feelings that SONG MIN HO had during the past six years after he stepped foot in the music business.  It touched the hearts of the fans even more since it was the first time that SONG MIN HO frankly expressed his innermost feelings in front of the fans.

Until now, all the songs of YG Entertainment musicians, from “senior” artists such as BIGBANG, GINUSEAN, EPIK HIGH to “junior” artist such as WINNER, LEE HI, AKMU, and 2NE1, gained much popularity. This year is not an exception. BIGBANG has been sweeping the charts with their singles released every month and their songs made for variety shows.

YG Entertainment certainly has great music selling power.
