BIGBANG's G-Dragon Tops Music Charts All Over The World With 'POWER'

BIGBANG’s G-Dragon is back—and topping music charts across the globe!

On October 31 at 6 p.m. KST, G-Dragon made his long-awaited solo return with his new pre-release single “POWER.” Shortly after its release, the single shot to the top of iTunes charts in various countries around the world.

As of November 1 KST, “POWER” had already hit No. 1 on iTunes Top Songs charts in at least 15 different regions, including Taiwan, Hong Kong, Finland, Vietnam, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Peru, the Philippines, Malaysia, Cambodia, Kazakhstan, Macau, Mongolia, and Oman. The song had also entered the top 10 in at least 28 different regions, including Japan, Norway, Singapore, Ireland, Indonesia, Bahrain, Brazil, Kyrgyzstan, Paraguay, Colombia, Russia, India, and Mexico.

Meanwhile, “POWER” reached No. 1 on multiple major realtime music charts in Korea, including Melon, Genie, Bugs, and Vibe.

The music video for “POWER” has also been racking up views at impressive speed on YouTube, where it surpassed 10 million views around 11 p.m. KST on November 1.

The Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) has announced its latest batch of official certifications!

In 2020, the RIAJ implemented a new certification system for online streaming of songs, as an addition to its pre-existing certification systems for physical album shipments and digital download sales. According to the new system, songs are certified silver once they reach 30 million streams, gold at 50 million streams, and platinum at 100 million streams.

This month, SEVENTEEN earned an official platinum certification for their 2016 hit “VERY NICE,” which surpassed 100 million streams in Japan.

Meanwhile, IVE’s “Baddie,” aespa’s “Supernova,” TWICE’s “ONE SPARK,” and BIGBANG’s Taeyang’s “EYES, NOSE, LIPS” were all certified gold after surpassing 50 million streams each in Japan.
