Coachella Canceled Due To Coronavirus Outbreak

Jun 11, 2020

Due to ongoing concerns over the COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) pandemic, Coachella will be cancelled this year.

Previously, BIGBANG and Epik High were both announced in the lineup of performers to take the stage at the popular U.S. music festival. The event was supposed to take place in April, but it was eventually postponed until October.

However, it has now been decided that Coachella will not take place at all this year. Cameron Kaiser, a public health official in Riverside County where the events would have taken place, said, “I am concerned as indications grow that COVID-19 could worsen in the fall. Given the projected circumstances and potential, I would not be comfortable moving forward. These decisions are not taken lightly with the knowledge that many people will be impacted. My first priority is the health of the community.”

According to Johns Hopkins University, the United States has now recorded more than 2 million COVID-19 cases.
