YG Entertainment Confirms All BIGBANG Members Will Enlist Soon

It looks like the a couple more K-pop icons will be enlisting in the military this year. Not long ago, BIGBANG members TOP and G-Dragon submitted themselves for service in South Korea ahead of Taeyang’s impending intake. Now, reports have confirmed that the rest of BIGBANG will also begin their enlistments in 2018.

Not long ago, reports hit Naver in South Korea after YG Entertainment publicized information about BIGBANG’s remaining members. After 3 of the band’s 5 members were forced to enlist, Daesung and Seungri have confirmed they will enlist for active duty in 2018.

Currently, the reports say Daesung will enlist on March 13 and begin his mandatory enlistment period. Seungri has not revealed his date of enlistment yet, but reports from YG Entertainment confirm the star will enlist shortly. The youngest member of BIGBANG will enter active service once his solo album is released. There is no date set for the album’s release, but Seungri revealed he was working on it at the end of January. The comeback will be Seungri’s first solo outing since 2013 when his second mini album “Let’s Talk About Love” was released. Right now, Seungri is busy promoting his work on a Chinese film known as “Love Only” which debuted last week.

If you are not familiar with South Korea’s conscription laws, then you should know all males are required to enlist barring any medical conditions. All South Korean men must serve 2 years in the military between the ages of 19 and 35 with the minimum period of enlistment being 21 months. Army and Marine Corps members serve the shortest time possible while Navy and Air Force members serve up to 24 months. Non-active duty jobs require between 24 and 26 months of service.

G-Dragon began his military service at the end of February. Taeyang is slated to start his soon now that he has married his longtime girlfriend Min Hyo-rin in a quaint ceremony. As for TOP, the eldest BIGBANG member began his military service in January 2017 but was pulled from it after being prosecuted for drug charges. The rapper resumed his conscription in mid-January after his court proceedings finished.

[OFFICIAL] BIGBANG DAESUNG Will Enlist On The 13th Following GD•TAEYANG… Volunteered Last Year

[OSEN=김은애 기자] BIGBANG’s DAESUNG will enlist as an active soldier.

On March 5, YG Entertainment announced that “BIGBANG’s DAESUNG will enlist on March 13”.

What’s noticeable is that he will enlist the next day after TAEYANG enlists on the 12th. It’s almost as if they are enlisting together.

This happened because DAESUNG volunteered for military duty last year, hoping to enlist along with other members during a similar period.

With DAESUNG’s enlistment confirmed, 3 members from BIGBANG including G-DRAGON who enlisted on February 27, has and will start their active military in a month.

DAESUNG wrapped up his solo artist activities successfully last year prior to his enlistment, by releasing a solo album and completing a hall tour in 18 cities, as well as holding a dome concert in Japan.

The last member who’s enlistment date isn’t confirmed in BIGBANG is now SEUNGRI. SEUNGRI currently has a busy schedule as he is preparing for his solo album which will be released in early 2018, and his schedules overseas to promote a film starring himself premiering in China.

Related officials from YG stated, “SEUNGRI wanted to enlist along with other members, but had to prepare for his solo album release and promote the movie ‘LOVE ONLY’ which will premiere on March 2 at China. He is planning to enlist as an active soldier when his schedules are successfully wrapped up”.

BIGBANG’s Daesung Confirms Military Enlistment Date

BIGBANG’s Daesung has confirmed his army enlistment date!

On March 5, it was announced that Daesung will be enlisting in the military on March 13, a day after fellow BIGBANG member Taeyang. In the past, Daesung had expressed a desire to begin his military service around the same time as the other members, so he applied for voluntary enlistment last year.

Daesung had a busy year in 2017. Not only did he release a solo album and go on a 18-city tour in Japan, but he also held multiple concerts with his fellow BIGBANG members.

With G-Dragon already enlisting on February 27, this means that three out of the five members will be beginning their military service in under a month. T.O.P is currently fulfilling his duties as a public service worker, and youngest member Seungri is busy with news of a solo album on the way for the first half of 2018.

A source from YG Entertainment stated, “Seungri also wanted to enlist around the same time as the other members, but his Chinese movie ‘Love Only’ is scheduled to be released on March 2 and he has also been preparing a solo album. He plans to voluntarily enlist after he has completed his scheduled activities.”

T.O.P officially requested vacation days to be with G-Dragon on his enlistment day


T.O.P willingly used his vacation days to be there for G-Dragon.

The leader of BIGBANG enlisted in the military on February 27. Several days later, it has been revealed that fellow member T.O.P was there with him until the moment of his enlistment.

Fans found their strong brotherly bond admirable, but at the same time, questioned how T.O.P was able to show up on the day when he’s also currently serving his mandatory duty.

On March 2, a rep from government district office in Yongsan revealed to YTN News, “T.O.P made a call on the 27th and requested to use his vacation days. He used the official vacation days allowed for public service workers.”

Meanwhile, G-Dragon is scheduled to get discharged in November 2019.

BIGBANG's T.O.P was with G-Dragon at the moment of his military enlistment.

On March 2, Phillip Jeon, the CEO of Paradise Group, shared photos from G-Dragon's enlistment day via Instagram. In the images, G-Dragon is captured spending his last moments with T.O.P. The two BIGBANG members show much affection as they exchange big, warm hugs.

T.O.P also revealed to have gifted a Chateau Haut-Brion 1988 wine bottle to G-Dragon with the message, "To my beloved dongsaeng Jiyong, please be healthy and return safely. I love you so much. From Seung Hyun-ee hyung."

 

 


G-Dragon entered the White Skull Division on February 27. He is scheduled to get discharged in November 2019. T.O.P is also in midst of his military duty, serving as a public worker in Yongsan.

BIGBANG's Seungri says he already misses his hyungs

Seungri expressed his love for his BIGBANG hyungs who recently enlisted in the military.

According to Taiwan 'ET Today' on March 1, Seungri recently received a question regarding G-Dragon and T.O.P's recent enlistment during his first ever Chinese film preview screening, 'Love In Universe' also titled 'Love Only' in Hong Kong. On this day, Seungri replied, "Hyungs have now gone to the military, and even though they'll return soon, I already miss them."

On this day, he was also asked why he's learning Chinese. To this, he simply answered that he would like to get closer to Chinese fans and said, "If I speak in Korean, they likely would not be able to understand what I'm saying, and in turn, would not know how I'm feeling," which melted the hearts of all fans.

BIGBANG’s T.O.P Says Goodbye To G-Dragon With Sweet Hug

On March 2, Phillip Chun, the chairman of Paradise Group, shared some sweet photos of BIGBANG’s G-Dragon saying goodbye to T.O.P right before enlisting in the military.

The photos seem to have been taken on their way to the 3rd Infantry Division recruit training center located in Cheorwon, Gangwon Province, where G-Dragon will be undergoing five weeks of basic training before receiving his military assignment.

G-Dragon can be seen with his military buzz cut as he poses with T.O.P in the backseat of a car.

The next two photos show G-Dragon and T.O.P sharing a warm hug.

Phillip Chun also shared photos of the entrance gate to the “White Skull” training center and the bottle of wine that T.O.P, whose real name is Seung Hyun, gave to G-Dragon as a gift. The message on the wine bottle reads, “To my beloved Ji Yong [G-Dragon’s real name], take care and come back safely. I love you so much. From Seung Hyun.”

G-Dragon enlisted in the military on February 27 and is scheduled to be discharged on November 26, 2019.

Goo Hara commented, “It was really fun, and people didn’t recognize us. That kind of atmosphere was very enjoyable.”

She also talked about how the four of them went to a theme park in Paris while wearing masks. They wore them in order to go unnoticed, but she admitted, “The masks were so showy that we just stood out more. So we just went to drink again.”

BIGBANG Wins Triple Crown For 2 Consecutive Years in Japanese Golden DIsk


[마이데일리=이예은 기자] Group BIGBANG won the triple crown in Japan’s Golden Disk Awards for 2 consecutive years. 

On the ‘32nd Japanese Golden Disk Awards’ that was held on February 27, BIGBANG was chosen as ‘Best Asian Artist’, while their album ‘MADE’ was chosen as the ‘Best 3 Albums’. Furthermore, their ‘LIVE DVD & Blu-ray, ‘BIGBANG 10 THE CONCERT : 0.TO.10 -THE FINAL’ received the ‘Best Music Video’ award. 

The ‘Japanese Golden Disk Award’ announces its winners based on sales including CDs, digital music, and music videos. BIGBANG has previously won awards in 5 categories last year including the ‘Best Asian Artist’, ‘Album of the Year (Asia)’, and the ‘Best Music Video’ award. 

They have received the same three awards for 2 consecutive years, proving their position as a global idol group. 

BIGBANG stated, “All of our members feel grateful to have received these awards. Thank you for giving us the award in 2018, as you have in 2017”. They continued, “We will be back. Let’s have a good time on the date of reunion with great performances and great songs”. 

Meanwhile, G-DRAGON started his active military duty in the 3rd Infantry White Skull Division Recruit Training Center of the ROK army, located in Cheorwon, Gangwon-do on February 27.
