G-Dragon’s New Chanel Ad Filled With Racist Comments On Facebook

ALLKPOP:

Fans defend G-Dragon from racist comments seen on Chanel’s ‘Gabrielle bag campaign’

The luxurious brand Chanel recently uploaded their campaign featuring BIGBANG’s G-Dragon on Facebook with the caption that reads “In Macau with G-Dragon, for CHANEL’s GABRIELLE bag campaign.”

However, instead of accepting the level of diversity any industry requires and actually appreciating the campaign, some commenters couldn’t help but post negative and racist remarks on the video. One comment reads, “Sorry this isn’t Chanel. She was French. Vive la France.” In addition to this, other comments were seen that equated him being from China simply because he was Asian and that he simply did not fit the Chanel image.

In light of these kinds of negative energy people were spewing, many fans have come out to support the artist but also to shut down any racist comments they saw. With the exception of comments such as above, the majority showed much appreciation and welcomed the advertisement with an open arm.

With the rise of Korean music and its entertainment industry, people across the globe have started to acknowledge their talents and artistry. Unfortunately, with popularity comes negative and ignorant reactions such as when BTS won their award at the Billboard Music Awards and when Jay Park was featured on an NBA Facebook page for attending a playoff game. However, despite the hurdles these artists face on a daily basis, they continue to succeed and reach new heights.

G-Dragon’s New Chanel Ad Filled With Racist Comments On Facebook

It was an advert meant to celebrate fashion, music and G-Dragon’s partnership with the luxury brand, Chanel. However, the brand’s Facebook page was riddled with hate comments instead.

The advert featured G-Dragon in Macau, China, as he modeled Chanel’s latest campaign for their bag, Gabrielle. It followed the artist promoting the line and aired snippets taken from his ongoing concert tour.

Fans of the brand, however, were not happy with G-Dragon’s selection and posted their displeasure on Facebook.

While others argued that the artist himself was not French, many have voiced out that the advert was not the style usually appropriated by the brand.

Some comments went on to mock G-Dragon’s appearance and questioned his popularity.

Despite the initial hate comments received, his fans came to the rescue and informed commenters of G-Dragon’s contribution and collaboration with the brand.

The disappointment in the racist comments, however, disappointed most fans.

The initial concept of the campaign was to promote the bag with diverse models in different cities promoting celebrities such as Liu Wen and Willow Smith.

Park Myung Soo Hilariously Gets Rejected After Asking G-Dragon To Lunch

Park Myung Soo and G-Dragon had a funny interaction on the July 1 episode of Infinite Challenge.

During the episode, Park Myung Soo tried to recruit some celebrity friends to come on the show and have lunch at his food truck. He called G-Dragon and asked him if he could make it to the location in 30 minutes.

“I would love to eat with you but I don’t think I’ll be able to make it in 30 minutes,” G-Dragon responded. In the hopes of getting the superstar on the show, Park Myung Soo then asked, “If you were to come, how long would it take you?”

“It’ll take about three days,” said G-Dragon, taking the comedian by surprise.

Right before ending the call, Park Myung Soo added, “It makes me a little sad to see that you like Jung Hyung Don more than me,” to which G-Dragon clarified, “That’s not exactly true.”

Park Myung Soo confessed, “I like you a lot, but I don’t show it because I don’t want to burden you.”

“It’s burdening,” G-Dragon hilariously replied, leaving Park Myung Soo speechless.

[Exclusive] BIGBANG’s TAEYANG to Release a Solo Album Soon and is About to Shoot a Music Video

[OSEN=장진리 기자] TAEYANG’s solo comeback is just around the corner.

OSEN found out on July 1 that TAEYANG recently decided on the title track of his new solo album and set the schedule of the music video shooting. It’s been three years since TAEYANG released a solo album, which was in 2014 when he released “RISE”.

Already, TAEYANG held a number of meetings with the staff to discuss the music video of the title song. At the meeting on June 20, they decided on the concept of the music video and the shoot schedule.

One of the staff members at the meeting told OSEN, “TAEYANG participated in all the meetings so far. He takes it seriously and pays attention to details. He is also very passionate and makes a lot of suggestions too. You can really see why he has become a top star.”

There is no information about TAEYANG’s new song so far, making fans around the world more curious about his new album.

The staff member said, “I can’t give you any information about the title song or the music video yet. But, the director of the music video is someone who worked with TAEYANG for the first time, and the music video will have a totally different style from his past music videos. The song is a great song, catchy yet well-made.”

TAEYANG will begin his first stadium live tour in Japan with concerts at the Chiba Zozo Marine Stadium on July 8-9. He will also hold concerts in Seoul in September to kick off his world tour. Given the schedule of the music video shoot, TAEYANG’s comeback is mostly likely to take place in July.

TAEYANG began his solo career with “LOOK AT ME ONLY” in 2008. Since then, he has produced a number of hit songs as a solo artist such as “I NEED A GIRL”, “WHERE U AT”, and “WEDDING DRESS”. His gained tremendous popularity when he released “GOOD BOY” with G-DRAGON in 2014 and featured on MINO’s “FEAR” on Mnet’s Show Me The Money 4 in 2015. TAEYANG’s soulful voice and charisma on stage is unmatched, making him a superstar in and out of the country. No wonder fans are highly anticipating his solo comeback.

His teammate G-DRAGON has also recently released a solo album, and the album has not only swept the charts in Korea but also Billboard’s world charts. It will be interesting to see if TAEYANG’s first new solo album in three years will also dominate the charts.

[동아닷컴=전효진 기자] G-DRAGON swept the online monthly charts for June.

“UNTITLED”, the title track of G-DRAGON’s new solo album released on June 8, became No.1 on the monthly charts of major online music streaming platforms such as Melon, Olleh, Genie, and Soribada.

His new album “KWON JI YONG” swept the charts upon release with all its tracks ranking high on the charts. The title track also became No.1 on three of Gaon charts.

YG Confirms BIGBANG’s Taeyang Will Make Solo Comeback And Is Currently Working On His New MV

It looks like BIGBANG’s Taeyang is gearing up for his solo comeback!

Though YG Entertainment’s Yang Hyun Suk had already confirmed the news through an Instagram post in May, new details have emerged about the singer’s return.

Taeyang is reported to have held various discussions about the music video for his upcoming title track, with the final concept and filming date set during the last meeting on June 30. A source who attended the meeting said, “Taeyang was at every single meeting that was held. He was very serious about his work, checked every little detail and was actively pitching his own ideas. It made me think, ‘No wonder he’s risen to where he is now.'”

Details for the comeback are shrouded in mystery, and a YG Entertainment representative stated, “We cannot yet release any detailed information about the title track or music video. However, we can say that the director will be someone Taeyang’s never worked with before, and it will be very different from his past music videos,” and “The title track will be a song that will not only be appealing to the masses, but will also be a song that boasts high-quality musicality.”

This will be Taeyang’s first solo album in three years since 2014’s “Rise,” and it will be interesting to see how the singer’s music has evolved since then.

Are you excited for Taeyang’s comeback?

G-Dragon Reigns With “Untitled, 2014”; Soompi’s K-Pop Music Chart 2017, July Week 1

G-Dragon’s “Untitled, 2014” remains No. 1 for the second straight week! This song picked up three more music show wins last week in “Inkigayo,” “Music Core,” and “Show Champion.” Overall, it scored better than a week ago and it also widened the gap with the No. 2 song. Congratulations again to G-Dragon!

Moving up three spots to No. 2 is Chungha’s “Why Don’t You Know.” Last year with I.O.I, Chungha reached the top spot on our chart with “Very Very Very.”

Rounding out the top three is TWICE’s former No. 1 song “SIGNAL,” which is down one spot to No. 3 this week.

There are three new songs in the top 10 this week. Moving up 12 spots to No. 4 is a duet between Bolbbalgan4 and 20 Years Of Age named “We Loved.” Since their breakthrough hit “Galaxy” a year ago, Bolbbalgan4 has released many hit songs as their popularity continues to rise.

Moving up 17 spots to No. 7 is Hwang Chi Yeol’s first top 10 hit “A Daily Song.” This song is the title track of Hwang Chi Yeol’s mini-album “Be Ordinary.” Hwang Chi Yeol debuted in 2007 but he wasn’t well known until he participated and placed third in the Chinese talent show “I Am A Singer (Season 4)” in 2016. He caught the attention of fans back home in Korea. “A Daily Song” is a sad ballad telling a breakup story. It won on “Music Bank” last week, giving Hwang Chi Yeol his first music show win!

Moving up nine spots to No. 9 is NCT 127’s “Cherry Bomb,” their second top 10 hit this year. This song is the title track from their third mini-album, and has an urban hip hop melody. “Cherry Bomb” won on “M!Countdown” last week, giving NCT 127 their first music show win and perhaps many more to come.

We have reached the mid-point of the year, so these are the top 10 songs on our chart in the first half of 2017:

  1. BTS – “Spring Day”
  2. Akdong Musician – “Last Goodbye”
  3. WINNER – “REALLY REALLY”
  4. Bolbbalgan4 – “Tell Me You Love Me”
  5. TWICE – “KNOCK KNOCK”
  6. BIGBANG – “FXXK IT”
  7. Highlight – “Plz Don’t Be Sad”
  8. IU – “Palette (feat. G-Dragon)”
  9. Red Velvet – “Rookie”
  10. BLACKPINK – “Playing With Fire”

Congratulations to BTS winning the top song of our chart in the first half of 2017!
