&TEAM showed off their dancing skills on “Weekly Idol”!

The HYBE LABELS JAPAN rookie boy group appeared as guests on the July 19 episode of the MBC every 1 variety show, where they performed the Korean version of their song “FIREWORK” and played various games together with the MCs.

For the program’s signature “Weekly Playlist” segment, &TEAM chose to perform a dance cover of BTS’s 2021 smash hit “Butter.”

Meanwhile, at another point in the episode, the show put a twist on its “Random Play Dance” segment by playing snippets of hit songs by other artists—and the &TEAM members stepped forward to dance the choreographies if they knew them.

The songs that the &TEAM members covered on the spot included Stray Kids’ “CASE 143,” BIGBANG’s Taeyang’s “VIBE” (featuring BTS’s Jimin), and TXT’s “Sugar Rush Ride.”

BIGBANG’s G-Dragon has decorated the cover of Elle magazine’s latest issue!

In his new photo shoot, G-Dragon shines in pieces from Chanel’s unique 2022/23 collection that is inspired by Dakar, the capital of Senegal.

During his accompanying interview, G-Dragon was asked about his upcoming solo album, which he hinted at back in April. He responded, “As it’s been a long time since I’ve promoted as singer G-Dragon, I’m working [on the album] with a fun and excited heart. I think I’ll also be able to know what kind of emotions I have now once the songs are complete. I’m looking forward to it myself.”

Touching on his musical style of writing honest lyrics and capturing his sincere emotions, G-Dragon elaborated, “I try to communicate through music. When I look back on the emotions I’ve let out in songs over the years, there’s nothing that doesn’t come from my own experiences. Music is the best way to understand myself.”

When people reflect on G-Dragon’s career, there’s often the opinion that he was ahead of his time. The artist was asked what he thinks of this, to which he replied, “You’ll likely hear words like this when time goes by and there’s someone to be compared to, and if that’s the case, then I think that’s great to hear. When I look back on people I think are iconic, they’re remembered just as the people they are, regardless of the generation or trends. I’m also working to become someone like that.”

Rookie boy groups ATBO and 8TURN showed off their dancing skills on the latest episode of “Weekly Idol”!

The two groups appeared together as guests on the June 21 episode of the MBC every 1 variety show, where they faced off in a number of fun games and competitions.

For one of the show’s games, the idols had to guess song titles that were spelled out on pieces of paper stuck to the inside of host BTOB‘s Eunkwang‘s jacket. Whenever they guessed a title correctly, the idols had to dance to a snippet of the choreography for the song, leading to some fun impromptu covers by both groups.

Circle Chart (formerly known as Gaon Chart) has announced its latest batch of official certifications!

In 2018, the Korea Music Content Industry Association implemented a new certification system for album sales, song downloads, and online streaming. Starting with music released on or after January 1, 2018, Circle Chart now certifies albums platinum once they reach 250,000 sales, while albums that have sold a million copies or more receive a “million” certification.

On June 8, Circle Chart announced that SEVENTEEN had received their first-ever quadruple million certification for their latest mini album “FML,” which sold over 4 million copies.

SEVENTEEN also earned a separate double platinum certification for the Weverse version of “FML,” which sold over 500,000 copies.

Meanwhile, IVE’s first full-length album “I’ve IVE” became their second album to earn an official million certification after selling over a million copies, and BTS’ Suga received his first million certification as a solo artist for his recent album “D-DAY.”

NCT DOJAEJUNG’s unit debut mini album “Perfume” and NMIXX’s debut single album “AD MARE” were both certified double platinum after selling over 500,000 copies each.

Finally, in the streaming category, BIGBANG’s “Still Life,” BIG Naughty’s “Beyond Love” (featuring 10cm), Homies’ “Siren Remix” (featuring UNEDUCATED KID and Paul Blanco) were all certified platinum after surpassing 100 million streams each.

YG Entertainment has made a statement regarding BIGBANG’s G-Dragon’s contract with them.

On June 6, YG Entertainment announced, “G-Dragon’s exclusive contract with us has expired but we are collaborating with him through a separate contract for his other activities such as advertisement, etc.”

YG Entertainment added, “There will be discussions regarding additional contracts if he resumes his music activities. We will spare no effort to provide support for this.”

Previously, speculations began to arise among fans that G-Dragon did not renew his contract with the agency after noticing his name wasn’t on the list of artists and actors under YG Entertainment as of March 31 according to a quarterly report released by YG Entertainment in April.

Back in January, G-Dragon announced through his official YouTube channel he was gearing up for a new album. Later in March, he also teased that he’s currently preparing for a project and that several things are underway.

Fellow BIGBANG members Taeyang and Daesungparted ways with YG Entertainment following the expiration of their contracts with the agency in December 2022. Afterward, Taeyang joined THEBLACKLABEL while Daesung signed with R&D Company under D-LABLE, a dedicated team for Daesung.

Meanwhile, T.O.Pleft YG Entertainment in February 2022. At the time, the agency explained that T.O.P would continue to partake in BIGBANG’s group activities when he is able to. However, just a few days ago, T.O.P took to Instagram to personally announce he has withdrawn from BIGBANG.

T.O.P has personally announced his withdrawal from BIGBANG.

On May 30, T.O.P shared an Instagram post with one photo captioned “still making my albums.” The following day, a fan commented to ask T.O.P if he had left BIGBANG, to which he responded, “I’ve already withdrawn.”

T.O.P elaborated, “I’ve already told you guys that I’m leaving and I’m now facing a new chapter in my life since last year.”

Another fan commented to ask whether it was true that he was coming back and T.O.P clarified, “solo.”

Last February, T.O.P parted ways with YG Entertainment after 16 years. At the time, the agency explained that T.O.P would continue to partake in BIGBANG’s group activities when he is able to, beginning with their last comeback with “Still Life.”

In December, it was confirmed that T.O.P will be participating as one of eight crew members for the dearMoon Project, SpaceX’s lunar tourism project.

BIGBANG’s Taeyang has shared a sweet moment with his wife Min Hyo Rin!

On May 8, Taeyang dropped the first teaser for his upcoming documentary film. In the black-and-white video, Taeyang serenades Min Hyo Rin by singing his latest title track “Seed” from his solo EP “Down to Earth” along to the piano music. Min Hyo Rin appears touched by the sweet gesture, and Taeyang smiles back fondly.

The end of the documentary teaser video previews that Part 1 of the film will be released on May 12.

Taeyang and actress Min Hyo Rin first met in 2014 on the set of Taeyang’s “1AM” music video, and they got married in February 2018. The two welcomed their first child in December 2021.

Idols dominated this week’s list of the most buzzed-about non-drama TV appearances!

Following the conclusion of the popular idol survival shows “Boys Planet” and “Peak Time,” JTBC’s sports reality show “Win or Nothing” (“Strongest Baseball”) rose to No. 1 on Good Data Corporation’s list of the non-drama TV shows that generated the most buzz over the past week. The company determines each week’s rankings by analyzing data from news articles, blog posts, online communities, videos, and social media posts about non-drama TV shows that are currently airing or set to air soon.

LE SSERAFIM took first place on the list of most buzzworthy non-drama TV appearances after guesting on JTBC’s “Knowing Bros” (“Ask Us Anything”) as a full group. (“Knowing Bros” also climbed to second place on the list of shows.)

Meanwhile, BIGBANG’s Taeyang came in second place for his guest appearance on tvN’s “You Quiz on the Block,” which ranked No. 7 on the list of shows.

MBC’s “Home Alone” (“I Live Alone”), which climbed to third place on the list of shows, claimed a whopping four out of the top 10 spots on this week’s list of buzzworthy appearances. Code Kunst came in at No. 4, Park Na Rae at No. 5, Woo Do Hwan at No. 6, and Kim Dae Ho at No. 9.

SEVENTEEN ranked No. 8 for their guest appearance on tvN’s “Amazing Saturday” (which took No. 8 on the list of shows), while BTS’s V rocketed up the rankings to No. 10 for his appearance on tvN’s “Jinny’s Kitchen” (No. 5 on the list of shows).

The top 10 non-drama TV shows that generated the most buzz in the fourth week of April are as follows:
