[Article] [YG Life] BIGBANG TAEYANG’s 215 Days as Dong Youngbae… First-Ever Documentary to be Released on the 18th

[한경닷컴=김나경 기자] BIGBANG TAEYANG’s first-ever documentary as Dong Youngbae will be revealed for the first time.

According to YG Entertainment on May 11, the documentary ‘白夜 | WHITE NIGHT’ will be consisted of a total of 8 episodes. It will air beginning on May 18, TAEYANG’s birthday, for 4 weeks on every Monday and Thursday at 7 PM through TAEYANG and BIGBANG’s official YouTube channel.

Back in August 2017, TAEYANG released his third album ‘WHITE NIGHT’, which implies a ‘night without sundown’. He went on a solo world tour with the release of his album, then got married and enlisted in the army.

The documentary contains the record of a total of 215 days from the preparation of TAEYANG’s album to his enlistment. Real stories of Dong Youngbae deeply thinking about his identity and values will be presented through the documentary.

G-DRAGON of BIGBANG has previously presented a documentary titled ‘Kwon Ji Yong Act lll: M.O.T.T.E’. TAEYANG will follow up G-DRAGON and is expected to receive positive reviews from global fans through his sincere self.

After making debut as a member of BIGBANG back in 2006, TAEYANG took a huge role in the team after showing multiple talents in both singing and dancing. He was loved with his hits as a solo artist including ‘Wedding Dress’, ‘RINGA LINGA’, ‘Eyes, Nose, Lips’, and ‘WAKE ME UP’.

TAEYANG got discharged from the army last year on November after completing his military service. Numerous fans visited the scene and congratulated TAEYANG and DAESUNG for their dischargement, while the two members eye-contacted with many fans while showing appreciation for waiting for them for such a long time.

On January, TAEYANG held a flea market titled ‘花答 – Charity flea market & auction with TAEYANG and Friends’ to make a positive influence for the world. All proceeds from the flea market and auction were donated to The Snail of Love, a social service organization, for the surgery and recovery of the aurally challenged children and youth.

Meanwhile, BIGBANG renewed their contract with YG Entertainment, the agency they’ve spent over 20 years with since they were trainees, on March.

[Article] [YG Life] G-DRAGON’s Dominant Presence in China… Ranked as the No. 1 Hallyu Star

[매일경제 스타투데이=박세연 기자] A social media index revealing G-DRAGON’s dominant presence in China has been revealed, grabbing the attention of many fans.

According to the Hallyu Star Rankings announced on May 8 by Weibo, China’s biggest social media service, G-DRAGON has been ranked at no. 1 on a total of 4 categories including the general index, number of followers, interaction index, and the influence index.

The index was determined using records on Weibo from April 1 until April 30, for a month. Considering the presence and influence of Weibo within mainland China, it could have potential to become a standard criterion to estimate the popularity of Hallyu stars within China.

G-DRAGON being ranked at no. 1 on the interaction index grabbed the people’s attention. The interaction index tends to get higher if one uploads many posts during the month, but G-DRAGON only uploaded 1 image of and advertisement modeling himself.

The fact makes the people look forward to G-DRAGON and BIGBANG’s future activities, as they have not yet resumed official music activities.

YG Entertainment stated, “The record is more meaningful since it was made through supportive comments and retweets by numerous fans”.

G-DRAGON recently became a hot topic by being selected as the advertisement model for ‘Tea Pie’, a Chinese local drink brand. ‘Tea Pie’ is spreading out the advertisement with G-DRAGON not only online, but also through outdoor billboards and jumbotrons.

It was the first time that a well-known Chinese local brand has casted and promoted a Hallyu star as the main model since back in 2016, which grabbed the attention of many people.

[Article] [YG Life] G-DRAGON of BIGBANG Selected as a Model for a Chinese Brand… Conquers Local Billboards

[텐아시아=우빈 기자] G-DRAGON of group BIGBANG was selected as the model for a Chinese brand, and was placed in large-scale local billboards all over the place.

On May 4, YG Entertainment revealed, “G-DRAGON of BIGBANG signed a commercial model deal with ‘Tea Pie’, the famous drink brand of Nongfu Spring”.

The advertisement by G-DRAGON was recently posted on Weibo, which became a hot topic. Following the online promotion, ‘Tea Pie’ is currently holding outdoor advertising using large-scale billboards all over China.

The fact that G-DRAGON’s advertisement is being expanded to the offline market has a big implication. It is because it’s the first time that a Chinese local brand has signed a deal with a Korean celebrity and promoting the fact since back in 2016.

Related advertisement officials explained, “There have been Korean celebrity models in China, but they were really limited to Korean products that have been exported to China or to global brand advertisements”.

The Chinese market is showing passionate reactions. Thanks to G-DRAGON’s unchanging popularity, ‘Tea Pie’ is already starting to obtain advertisement effects.

Since BIGBANG’s popularity and influence have been proven once again by G-DRAGON, people are paying keen attention on the group’s future activities.

BLACKPINK’s Jennie thrilled fans by going live on Instagram for the first time!

On May 1, Jennie showed herself in a recording studio as she hung out with her fellow BLACKPINK members as well as BIGBANG’s G-Dragon, producer Teddy, and more.

She had turned on Instagram live to unbox her personalized “Jentle Home” from glasses brand Gentle Monster, which Jennie recently collaborated with for this special collection. She was excited to open the box, although she commented that her members had already done unboxings before her. She showed off the beautiful dollhouse inside that held her sunglasses and even revealed how it lights up, to the oohs and aahs of her groupmates and friends.

When they encouraged G-Dragon to try on the sunglasses, he first pretended to run away but then put them on and showed off the look. Everyone cheered and G-Dragon commented, “They look good on me though?” Jennie answered wittily, “They were made to look good on everyone.”

Rosé, Jisoo, and Lisa also had fun trying on the sunglasses and modeling for the camera, leading to lots of fun and laughter. Jennie then showed off more parts of her dollhouse, before signing off!
