[Article] [OSEN] BIGBANG renews contract with YG, promising an explosive comeback
Group BIGBANG (G-Dragon, Taeyang, T.O.P and Daesung) have re-signed the third contract with YG Entertainment (hereinafter referred to YG) and are rushing to prepare to resume their activities. Currently, BIGBANG has still been showing incredible progress in the career when being invited to attend America’s biggest music festival “Coachella” or the limited edition sneaker launch event that has stirred all the world. Above all, the news of the group’s upcoming new music product release has shaken the global fans’ hearts.
On March 11, YG Entertainment officially stated, “We have renewed our exclusive contracts with the BIGBANG members namely G-Dragon, Taeyang, T.O.P, and Daesung.”
This is the 3rd time that BIGBANG and YG Entertainment have renewed their contracts after 2011 and 2015. If including their trainee days, it can be seen that the members have accompanied the agency for up to 20 years, which is quite unusual in the entertainment industry.
In particular, YG Entertainment drew the attention of the entire music scene when heralding BIGBANG’s new comeback with full support for the act. It is no exaggeration to say during their operation time, BIGBANG has created music products that every audience loves and changed the trend of Korean popular culture.
In fact, the words “Music is YG” and “YG’s music is trustworthy to listen to” have also become a big foundation for BIGBANG’s songs. It is even difficult to pick out the best among the group’s hits such as “LIES”, “BAE BAE”, BANG BANG BANG”, “FANTASTIC BABY”, etc.
BIGBANG has shown the power of music, sweeping all the charts and awards ceremonies. “Flower Road” – the most recent song and also an enlistment gift for fans – recorded a surprising number of unique listeners within 24 hours and claimed No. 1 on charts.
In addition, the boys are at the forefront of the “self-composed album” trend which is recently emerging as each BIGBANG’s product includes tracks with the participation of the members in writing music and lyrics. Besides, BIGBANG also showed the appearance of the artists when actively giving their opinions about costumes, stage, MV, etc. The boys led the K-pop market with music products always ahead of their time along with bright visuals. BIGBANG certainly has a big contribution to the fact that the current K-pop music industry is getting more and more attention in the world.
Therefore, BIGBANG has always been warmly loved and created a powerful fandom all over the world a long time ago. The group is also the first artist to hold a large-scale world tour among Korean boy groups. Foreign stars also often mention and meet YG’s golden boys.
As a result, despite a long hiatus following their enlistment, BIGBANG has still confidently announced a spectacular return by joining the lineup of “Coachella”, the largest music festival in the United States. They have been invited to the event as the sub headliners, along with world-famous artists such as Travis Scott, Frank Ocean, Lil Uzi Vert. Although “Coachella” was postponed until October due to the outbreak of Covid-19, BIGBANG’s global impact has been fully proven.
Currently, BIGBANG has planned to devote all to the preparation for a new music product aiming at coming back in 2020. After renewing the contract with YG Entertainment – the company understanding BIGBANG more than anyone else and wholeheartedly supporting them, the 4 members have nothing else to do but shine brightly on a global scale.

특히 YG엔터테인먼트는 빅뱅을 향한 전폭적인 지원과 함께 새로운 컴백을 예고해 가요계의 이목을 집중시킨다. 빅뱅은 그동안 남녀노소 모두가 좋아하는 음악들을 내놓으며 대중문화의 흐름을 바꿨다고 해도 과언이 아니다. 사실상 “음악은 역시 YG” “YG 음악은 믿고 듣는다”라는 말도 빅뱅의 노래들이 큰 바탕이 됐기 때문이다. ‘거짓말’ ‘BAE BAE’ ‘뱅뱅뱅’ ‘FANTASTIC BABY’ 등 빅뱅의 명곡들 또한 하나만 꼽을 수 없을 정도다. 그만큼 빅뱅은 음악의 힘을 보여주며 차트, 시상식 등을 휩쓸어왔다. 가장 최근 곡이자 입대 선물로 발매했던 ‘꽃길’ 역시 놀라운 24시간 이용자수를 기록하며 각종 차트에서 1위를 장악했던 바다. 
더욱이 빅뱅은 요즘 일컫는 ‘자체제작 앨범’의 선두주자로서 매 앨범마다 직접 작사, 작곡한 음악을 담아왔다. 여기에 빅뱅은 패션, 무대, 뮤직비디오 등에도 적극적으로 의견을 내놓으며 아티스트의 면모를 드러내왔다. 늘 앞서가는 음악과 비주얼로 K팝 시장을 이끌어온 것. 현재 K팝이 글로벌 시장에서 주목받고 있는 부분도 빅뱅의 공을 빼놓을 수 없다. 이에 빅뱅은 오래 전부터 전세계에 두터운 팬덤을 구축하며 많은 사랑을 받아왔다. 국내 남자 그룹 중 대형 월드투어를 개최한 것도 빅뱅이 처음이다. 해외 유명 아티스트들 역시 빅뱅을 언급하고 찾는 일이 다반사. 
그 결과 빅뱅은 군대로 인한 공백기가 있었음에도 불구하고 미국 최대 음악축제 코첼라 라인업에 합류하며 화려한 복귀를 알렸다. 트래비스 스캇, 프랭크 오션, 릴 우지 버트 등 대형 뮤지션들 가운데 서브 헤드라이너 급으로 초청을 받은 것이다. 비록 코첼라는 코로나19 여파로 10월로 연기됐으나 빅뱅의 글로벌 파급력은 충분히 증명됐다. 이제 빅뱅은 2020년 새로운 컴백을 위한 음악 준비에 박차를 가할 계획. 여기에 누구보다 빅뱅을 잘 알고 아낌없는 지원을 해온 YG엔터테인먼트와 재계약을 이어가며, 네 멤버들은 전세계 정상에서 빛날 일만 남았다. 2020. 3. 11.
