10 Guy/Girl K-Pop Collab Stages That Will Leave You Wanting More

Jul 10, 2019

Back in the day, K-pop experienced a surge of exciting collaborations between second-generation male and female idols (both solo and groups). While it’s hard to see as many of these mixed stages nowadays, we still manage to witness an awesome selection of these kinds of collaborations during the award show season.

From past to present, here are 10 guy/girl K-pop stages that have us eager to see more performances of the sort!

1. BIGBANG X Lee Hyori

If you’re familiar with BIGBANG or Lee Hyori, you’ll know that they are avid fans of one another. Celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Mnet KM Music Festival (now called the Mnet Asian Music Awards), Hyori and BIGBANG set the stage on fire for nearly 13 minutes when they showcased their respective top hits. Apart from the breathtaking performances, one particular moment that stunned the crowd was when rapper T.O.P kissed Hyori. This collaboration stage is iconic, and definitely one for the K-pop history books!

2. BIGBANG X Wonder Girls

This is BIGBANG’s second entry on the list, and it’s well-earned. Their explosive performance alongside Wonder Girls definitely had jaws dropping. From their one-on-one renditions of “Irony,” “Lies,” “Tell Me,” “Haru Haru,” and “Nobody” to their respective homages to “So Hot” and “Last Goodbye,” this is truly a stage to remember!

BIGBANG’s T.O.P met fans and fooled the media on military discharge day

BIGBANG‘s T.O.P has officially been discharged from the military.

The idol had his final day of work as a public servant on Saturday 6 July, and YG Entertainment has stated he will be making a quiet return.

On the day, T.O.P met fans who had come to see him on his last day of service, in a private fanmeet away from media. VIPs had even gone so far as to stage an elaborate prank, wherein they waited alongside media at a different meeting point, to make it seem like T.O.P would be giving an official statement to media. The idol chose to meet his fans instead.

In an Instagram post shared afterwards, he apologised to fans and thanked them for their support. He wrote in English: “Even though I am not proud of myself, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all the fans who made time and efforts to share this moment with me. I will make sure to reflect on myself and repay the hurts and disappointments I caused to you. Again, thank you. Until I see you again… love, T.O.P”.

Fans trended #LongTimeNoSeeTOP in the lead up to his discharge, with many sharing pictures from the fan meeting, as well as the media stop that never was.

Due to the reduction regulation that was applied to public service agents in 2018, T.O.P’s service period had been shortened by about 27 days.

Hence, instead of August, the actor-rapper was set for July 8 military discharge. But since there is no office on the said date, T.O.P concluded his social service work on July 6.

Served at Yongsan Craft Center, T.O.P worked at a cultural facility, housing elderly people who produce and sell crafts. Warmly receiving the welcome from his supporters, he generously poured in the same amount of love he accepted.

Organized by his local fans, T.O.P made sure that his fans’ wait would be worth it, and even graced a “secret fan meeting” with them.

While expected to come out with the local media on standby, the BIGBANG member went first to where his loyal followers were convened, proving his gratefulness for the people who have given him strength unconditionally.

It was a happy occasion and an overwhelming reunion as fans and their favorite idol welled up feeling the mutual gratitude. They have stayed at each other’s side amidst the unfortunate events that happened to their cherished artist in the past.

On July 7, T.O.P shared several photos of his meeting with fans who came to greet him on the last day of his service as a public service worker. In the photos, T.O.P greets the large number of fans with a handshake or a deep bow. The last picture includes a handwritten message that reads, “I’m so sorry, and thank you.”

BIGBANG’s T.O.P is wrapping up his mandatory military service.

On July 6, T.O.P began his last day of service as a public service worker, greeted by fans as he arrived at the The Yongsan Crafts Museum in the morning. He is set to be discharged when his work ends for the day at 7 p.m. KST.

A source from his agency YG Entertainment stated, “T.O.P himself has stated that he hopes to have a quiet enlistment as he does not wish to cause discomfort to the visitors of the museum.” They added that to respect his wishes, T.O.P will head home after being discharge without any separate events or greetings.

T.O.P initially enlisted as a conscripted policeman in February 2017 as the first member of BIGBANG to go to the army. He served until June of that year, when he was dismissed from duty due to marijuana use. In January 2018, he then resumed his mandatory service as a public service worker.

He was initially scheduled to complete his service in early August, but new military laws implemented in 2018 shortened service periods for soldiers, and his new discharge date was pulled from July 8 to July 6 as his workplace does not open on Mondays.

T.O.P is the first member of BIGBANG to be discharged from the military. G-Dragon enlisted in February 2018, and Taeyang and Daesung enlisted in March 2018. All three are expected to be discharged by the end of the year.

Initial Reporter Of Seungri And Jung Joon Young’s Chatroom Case Reveals Yang Hyun Suk Apologized To Her

Jul 1, 2019

Kang Kyung Yoon, the reporter who released the initial reports on KakaoTalk chatrooms between Seungri, Jung Joon Young, and others, revealed that Yang Hyun Suk had reached out to her and apologized.

On June 28, SBS funE reporter Kang Kyung Yoon guested on SBS’s podcast “Cine Town 19” (literal title) and talked about what went on behind the process of reporting on Burning Sun.

She shared, “After the report on Burning Sun, [Yang Hyun Suk] reached out to me through another reporter. When I reported on the suspicions of Seungri mediating prostitution services and revealed the KakaoTalk messages, [YG] released an official statement saying not to spread false rumors, but Yang Hyun Suk later told me, ‘I’m sorry about [what happened] back then. I had to believe in my kid [Seungri’s] words. It wasn’t intentional.'”

In February, YG Entertainment had released an official statement saying, “We hope that through thorough investigations by the police, the truth of the indiscriminate rumors will be revealed, and if there is even the slightest issue, Seungri will have to accept the legal consequences. Conversely, if the rumors are proved false, we will, in addition to requesting a police investigation, be preparing all routes of legal action.”

Meanwhile, Seungri was recently forwarded to prosecution on seven charges, and Yang Hyun Suk was questioned by the police on suspicions of prostitution mediation.

MBN Reports Seungri And Yoo In Suk’s Cases To Be Forwarded To Prosecution Next Week

MBN Reports Seungri And Yoo In Suk’s Cases To Be Forwarded To Prosecution Next Week

MBN Reports Seungri And Yoo In Suk’s Cases To Be Forwarded To Prosecution Next Week

Jun 21, 2019

On June 21, MBN reported on the ongoing cases involving Seungri, Yoo In Suk, and Madam Lin.

It’s reported that about a month after the dismissal of detention warrants for Seungri and Yoo In Suk, police will wrap up its investigation of Seungri and Yoo In Suk and forward the cases to prosecution on June 25. The same suspicions including receiving prostitution, prostitution mediation, embezzlement, and violation of the Food Sanitation Act that were listed in the pretrial detention warrants were applied to the case.

June 25 is also the date that Seungri received when he previously submitted a request to delay his military enlistment for the ongoing investigation and the Military Manpower Administration postponed his enlistment.

Taiwanese investor Madam Lin will be treated as an accomplice and forwarded to prosecution on the same day. She is being suspected of laundering money by using fake bank deposit books in the name of the club’s employees and embezzling 570 million won (approximately $491,000). MBN states that the police booked Madam Lin on June 18 after conducting two document investigations. Taking future international cooperation into account, however, the police plan on forwarding Madam Lin’s case with the suggestion of a suspension of indictment.

Including Madam Lin’s suspected involvement, MBN reports that the total amount of the funds embezzled by Seungri and Yoo In Suk increases to 1.1 billion won (approximately $947,000).

Seungri and Yoo In Suk were previously booked for embezzling 530 million won (approximately $456,000) from Burning Sun. On June 19, it was then revealed that the Intellectual Crime Investigation Team of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency suspected Seungri and Yoo In Suk of conspiring with Madam Lin and embezzling 1 billion won (approximately $861,000).
