Police Acquire Testimony About Allegations Of Seungri’s Prostitution Mediation

Apr 1, 2019

On April 1, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency revealed that the police acquired a testimony which stated that there was an instance when Seungri mediated prostitution.

A source with a high rank in the force said, “We have partially confirmed allegations of [Seungri’s] prostitution mediation. Following [the confirmation], we investigated several people in relation to the allegations for two weeks, and four to five of them were women. We also received a testimony about [Seungri] providing prostitution services.”

However, the police are still checking to confirm if Seungri mediated prostitution in exchange for investment, the location where prostitution took place, and whether or not Seungri gave the order.

The police have also completed comparing and analyzing the messages from the group chatroom known as “Seungri’s group chatroom” and the documents they received from the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission so that they can check the authenticity of the messages.

The allegations of prostitution mediation against Seungri were first made due to an exclusive report by SBS funE on February 26, during which the news outlet revealed text messages containing evidence of Seungri ordering Club Arena employees to find prostitutes for a foreign investor in December 2015.

Seungri Revealed To Have Invested In Establishment Of Burning Sun Despite Previous Claims

Seungri Revealed To Have Invested In Establishment Of Burning Sun Despite Previous Claims

Seungri Revealed To Have Invested In Establishment Of Burning Sun Despite Previous Claims

Mar 29, 2019

On March 28, news outlet Yonhap News relayed words from various sources who have the insight into the management of Burning Sun.

The outlet reported that a company named Jun Won Corporation, a HR representative of Seungri, and a Taiwanese businesswoman known as Madam Lin gathered at an undisclosed location in Gangnam, Seoul around October and November 2017 to sign an initial investment contract for the management of Burning Sun.

Jun Won Corporation is the company managing Le Méridien Hotel, where Burning Sun is located. It is reported that Jun Won Corporation invested around 1.2 billion won (approximately $1,077,810), Madam Lin invested 1 billion won (approximately $879,845), and Seungri invested 225 million won (approximately $197,965).

Previously, Seungri commented through a statement that he was not involved in the roles of operating and managing Burning Sun. He also argued that he was simply in charge of publicly promoting the club with his celebrity status.

One source stated, “You can assume that cash investment [for Burning Sun] came from Jun Won Corporation and Madam Lin. Yuri Holdings acquired shares without actually investing. Jun Won Corporation also invested in building the facilities of Burning Sun.”

This investment is separate from the division of shares that was previously reported. According to the police, Jun Won Corporation is Burning Sun’s largest shareholder with 42 percent. Yuri Holdings and Madam Lin each hold 20 percent, Burning Sun CEO Lee Moon Ho holds 10 percent, and the other CEO Lee Sung Hyun holds eight percent.

The police are looking into a possibility of Jun Won Corporation, Madam Lin, and Seungri engaging in the actual management of Burning Sun to retrieve their initial investment. In addition, the police are looking into suspicious money flow that they noticed while analyzing Burning Sun’s financial records.

The police acquired a year’s worth of financial records from Burning Sun and have been checking the possibility of various criminal activities in general management of the club such as tax evasion.

According to several sources, employees at Burning Sun reported each day’s sales to both Le Méridien Hotel and Jun Won Corporations after work every day.

A source from the police said, “We are checking to see if there are suspicions of embezzlement or tax evasion that occurred in the process of distributing Burning Sun’s profits to MDs (promoters). We are questioning some people in relation to Burning Sun as witnesses.”

The police are suspecting that MDs, promoters who invite guests into the club in exchange for a commission, may have been mobilized to carry out various criminal activities of Burning Sun. Suspicions include tax evasion and money laundering by having MDs receive money for drinks through their personal bank accounts, after which they would transfer the money back into the company’s bank account.

SBS Reports On Group Chatroom Conversation When Seungri Shared Illegally Taken Photo

Mar 28, 2019

SBS has shared a conversation between Seungri and fellow members of a group chatroom.

On March 28, SBS’s “8 O’Clock News” reported on Seungri recently being booked for spreading an illegally taken photo. According to police, while Seungri admitted to sharing illicit footage, he has denied taking it and said it was a photo from an acquaintance.

SBS reports that on June 12, 2016, Seungri shared a photo of naked women in a group chatroom.

Mr. Kim replied, “Now?” and Choi Jong Hoon asked, “Seungri, what is it?” In reply, Seungri sent several symbols for laughter.

Police are conducting an investigation into who took the photo.

Earlier that day, MBC reported that there are eight singers in the controversial group chatrooms, with 14 people in all. The police also stated that they have confirmed the existence of 23 chatrooms so far, including group chatrooms and one-on-one conversations, where illegally filmed videos and photos were shared by Jung Joon Young, Seungri, Choi Jong Hoon, and more.

MBC Reports Several Group Chatroom Members Changed Phones After News Broke

MBC Reports Several Group Chatroom Members Changed Phones After News Broke

Mar 28, 2019

On March 28, MBC’s “Newsdesk” reported on discussions of destroying evidence that took place in the group chatrooms where illegally filmed videos were shared.

MBC received investigation reports from the police that state that Seungri, Jung Joon Young, Choi Jong Hoon, and other members of the controversial group chatrooms had all changed their phones.

It was revealed that when it was first reported on March 11 that there had been illegally filmed videos shared in their group chatrooms, they discussed switching their phones.

The police found that Seungri said to Choi Jong Hoon, “Change your phone.”

Jung Joon Young also testified to police that he had gotten rid of his phone at his show’s filming location in Los Angeles and bought a new one, as instructed to by Mr. Park, a member of the chatroom.

When he returned to Korea from the United States, he claimed that he submitted all of his phones with videos to the police, even though he’d gotten rid of his phone that is suspected of containing more recent illegally filmed videos.

Six other members of the chatrooms including Seungri and others submitted new phones to the police after changing their phones.

Because of this organized destruction of evidence, the police have not been able to check their recent phones. This is why the investigation has mostly been focused on illegal activities that took place in 2015 and 2016.

Seungri, Jung Joon Young, and Choi Jong Hoon were all booked earlier today for additional charges of sharing illegally filmed videos and photos.

MBC Reports Jung Joon Young’s Group Chatrooms Sharing Hidden Camera Footage Included 8 Singers

Mar 28, 2019

On March 28, MBC’s “Newsdesk” reported that Jung Joon Young’s group chatrooms included 14 people, eight of whom are singers.

“Newsdesk” reports that the chatroom conversations were full of messages that disparaged women, and even included discussion of the possibility of using illegally filmed video as blackmail.

The chatrooms reportedly included Jung Joon Young, Seungri, Choi Jong Hoon, and Yong Junhyung, with eight singers in total. This includes newly identified singers referred to by MBC as “singer K” and “singer J.”

There was also model L, businessmen such as former Yuri Holdings CEO Yoo In Suk, two Burning Sun MDs (merchandisers or promoters), and a friend of Jung Joon Young.

When reached out to for a comment, a representative of singer K said that they do remember being in a chatroom with Jung Joon Young, but not the sharing of illegal photos.

There are said to be seven chatrooms where hidden camera videos were shared. The participants shared videos in the chatrooms, which had as few as three to four people or as many as six to seven people.

The police have found in their investigation that after videos were shared in the chatrooms, the participants would talk about them as though bragging. In addition, Seungri’s acquaintance Mr. Kim filmed a sexual video of a victim who owned him a debt. He said, “Should I release this video if she doesn’t pay up?” and shared the video in a chatroom.

MBC also reports some of what the police have found while investigating Jung Joon Young. In 2016, he shared a photo of a woman’s body in a chatroom with male celebrity friends. The photo was of a woman who was sitting ahead of him on an airplane. 30 seconds later, he sent the photo in another chatroom with celebrity friends.

Police have found that he filmed women in locations including a hotel in Taiwan, his apartment, a restaurant in Gangnam, an adult entertainment establishment, and in an airplane. The videos were also shared at various times of the day, including the middle of the night and the afternoon.

Most of the videos are less than 10 seconds long, and were taken without the woman’s awareness. It’s reported that he was caught by a woman he’d filmed in his home in 2015 and he deleted the footage.

Jung Joon Young was arrested on March 21 and is currently being held at a detention center. He has been charged with 11 instances of sharing illegally taken footage.

Hair Stylist Clarifies Reports About Seungri’s Makeup For Police Questioning

Mar 28, 2019

Following reports of Seungri receiving full makeup at a salon prior to his questioning at the police station on March 14, the director of the salon spoke up to clarify the claims made in the reports.

On March 27, it was reported that “A” had witnessed Seungri getting his hair and makeup done on March 14 at a salon in Gangnam known for having famous celebrities as customers.

“A” stated, “I was surprised to see him in full makeup as if he were going on ‘Big Show’ when he is implicated in something that the entire country is enraged over. He appeared very different than other celebrities and chaebols that have gone to the police station. When Seungri was on his way out after getting his makeup done, he asked, ‘Please go a bit heavier on the eye makeup,’ and got it fixed further.”

The witness continued, “After Seungri left, the few people there started whispering. Though he is probably supposed to be avoiding places like this since there are many eyes, he appeared confidently. I felt that he was either confident in the investigation or thought, ‘The investigation isn’t that big of a deal.’ The makeup itself is not going to be a problem, but his attitude wasn’t that of someone who felt he had done something wrong.”

“B,” who has been doing makeup for broadcasting stations for over 20 years, stated, “There are a lot of times when stars feel burdened because there are a lot of reporters gathered at the police station, so they do their eye makeup very lightly. The fact that he got heavy eye makeup can be an expression of his confidence or a symbolic protest saying, ‘I haven’t done anything wrong.'”

Afterwards, the director of the hair salon spoke up to clarify the situation, sharing that he did go to the hair salon to get makeup done before attending questioning but did not get full makeup as claimed in the reports.

The director continued, “He appeared to be exhausted, and all we did was smooth out his hair and simple cover ups such as covering the bags under his eyes. He had a hard time and he didn’t speak much.”

Seungri is currently being investigated for suspicions of prostitution mediation as well as other crimes related to the club Burning Sun. He has also been booked for charges of spreading illegally taken photos.

On March 28, the Seoul National Police Agency revealed that they additionally booked Seungri for charges of spreading illegally taken footage. The police specified that Seungri spread illegally taken photos.

Regarding the suspicions of Seungri’s prostitution mediation, the police said, “We are continuing to extensively check testimonies from some people in relation [to the allegations]. During a municipal meeting two weeks ago, the head of the criminal investigation department stated that ‘there is a credible testimony in relation to [Seungri’s] alleged prostitution mediations,’ but we have come further than that as of now.”

The police also revealed that they added more charges against Jung Joon Young regarding the allegations of sharing illegally taken footage, for which the singer was arrested on March 21 and is currently being held at a detention center at Jongno Police Station.

The police said, “Following the arrest of Jung Joon Young, we confirmed that there were three more instances of [him] spreading illegally taken footage. We plan to forward them to the prosecution on March 29. With three new instances added onto the original eight instances, [Jung Joon Young is charged with] 11 instances of sharing illegally taken footage.” The police also shared that Jung Joon Young tested negative for drug testing.

Regarding Choi Jong Hoon, the police stated that they found one additional instance of [him] sharing illegally taken videos and photos on top of the two original instances. They further explained, “We will have to continue with the investigation to figure out who filmed it, but the individual himself (Choi Jong Hoon) acknowledged the act. This is different from the videos Jung Joon Young shared.”

Seungri is currently under investigation for suspicions of prostitution mediation and related actions surrounding the club Burning Sun. Jung Joon Young was placed under arrest on March 21 for the filming and sharing of hidden camera videos. Choi Jong Hoon was booked on March 21 for bribing a police officer to cover up a drunk driving incident from 2016.

Go Jun Hee Denies Ties To Seungri’s Prostitution Mediation Allegations

Mar 28, 2019

Go Jun Hee has denied her ties to Seungri and his alleged act of mediating prostitution.

The March 23 broadcast of SBS’s “Unanswered Questions” (also known as “The Its Know”) reported on Seungri and a party from 2015, during which the former BIGBANG member reportedly entertained a foreign investor from Japan.

The show also revealed messages that Seungri allegedly exchanged in a group chatroom that includes former FTISLAND member Choi Jong Hoon, Jung Joon Young, and others. The messages showed Seungri mentioning a specific time for the party and ordering the participants to prepare, to which Jung Joon Young replies, “I can tell the girls to arrive by 8 o’clock, right?”

In response, Choi Jong Hoon says, “A (referring to an actress) is in New York.” Seungri responds, “She went to New York, again??” and Choi Jong Hoon says, “Of course, these actress b****** are always abroad when they are taking time off.”

Following the broadcast, speculations arose that the actress mentioned in the chatroom is Go Jun Hee, who happened to be abroad around the same time as the event mentioned in the chatroom.

On Go Jun Hee’s Instagram, netizens asked the actress if she is in anyway involved in the situation. One comment directly asked her if it’s true about her involvement with Seungri’s prostitution mediation allegations, and another comment asked if she is close with Choi Jong Hoon. There was also a comment that simply said, “Unanswered Questions.”

However, the actress denied her ties and replied to the comments the same way, “It’s not true ^^.”
