[OSEN=박소영 기자] YG Entertainment (“YG”) is still recording a rising curve. After dominating the Korean culture market, it has widened its influence to China as well. YG’s appeals are fascinating the Chinese continent.

On May 31, YG signed an investment agreement with China’s biggest IT company Tencent and China’s No.1 on/off-line ticketing company Weying. Based on the agreement, YG’s official channel will be created on Tencent Video. Plus, live-streaming of YG’s concert will be available on Tencent and the two companies will carry out businesses of joint production for TV shows.

Weying will hold a concert of iKON, EPIK HIGH, and LEE HI in China in the second half of this year. LEE HI is invited to the concert even though she has yet to make an official debut in China. EPIK HIGH and iKON who have already captivated the Chinese continent will gain bigger wings for their career in China.

There are many reasons why Tencent and Weying chose YG as their partner, out of many entertainment companies in Korea. They were impressed by the global competitiveness of YG, the power of its contents, big influence of YG’s artists, as well as the company’s trendy music.

YG’s CEO YANG MIN SUK said, “YG has done fierce research on how to effectively introduce YG’s music in the massive market called China for the past two years. We decided that our work will create bigger synergy with the best partner in the country”.

YANG went on to say, “By introducing YG’s music in China on QQ music and video and holding concerts in cooperation with Weying, we’ll have better opportunity to understand and communicate more closely with Chinese fans based on the two companies’ big data. Based on YG’s past record of more than 30% of growth every year for the past decade, we promise you bigger growth and innovation in the future”.

Now, all the YG artists including not only BIGBANG but also WINNER, iKON, 2NE1, PSY, AKMU, LEE HI, and EPIK HIGH will be able to spread their wings in the bigger global market of China. As such, YG is continuing with their record growth.

Both BIGBANG and iKON, YG senior and junior, will perform at “a-nation”, the biggest summer music festival in Japan.

Japan’s biggest summer music festival “a-nation” will be held on August 27 and 28 at Tokyo Ajinomoto Stadium. BIGBANG and iKON will perform on August 27.

BIGBANG performs as the headline artist of the festival for three years in a row, following their performance in 2014 and 2015. As iKON performs at the festival for the first time since their debut, their performance bears all the more significant meaning.

BIGBANG successfully held Japan dome tour from November last year to February this year. With the tour that drew as many as 911,000 fans, BIGBANG became the artist who drew the largest number of audience to concert in Japan for three years in a row, for the first time for a foreign artist. Plus, the successful finale of Japan fan club event tour that attracted 280,000 fans to 27 concerts in four cities until May this year also proved BIGBANG’s big popularity in Japan once again.

BIGBANG will meet more fans in Japan in live concert held on July 29, 30, and 31 at Osaka Yanma Stadium Nagai. The live concert that is expected to entertain 165,000 fans is held in celebration of the 10^th anniversary of BIGBANG’s debut. In Korea, BIGBANG will release “BIGBANG MADE” movie on June 30 as the beginning of the project for their 10^th anniversary. Other projects will be also unveiled one after another. 

Rookie idol group iKON who has recently released digital single “#WYD” also enjoys big popularity in Japan. iKON made a grand debut in the country with debut album “WELCOME BACK” that took No.1 on Oricon chart upon its release in Japan in January this year. iKON’s first tour in Japan also set a great record by drawing an exceptional number of 146,000 fans. Since their debut, iKON is showing remarkable success, expanding the scope of their career from Korea and Japan to the Chinese region by holding Asia tour in Hong Kong as well as Nanjing, Chengdu, and Shanghai in China.

[OSEN=정유진 기자] Global artist BIGBANG and Korea’s proprietary new technology “Screen X” have met, to give a new shot.

CGV announced that it has produced Screen X version of “BIGBANG MADE”, a music documentary film that celebrates the 10^th anniversary of BIGBANG’s debut, which will be released on June 30. 

“BIGBANG MADE” is a music documentary film that shows BIGBANG’s world tour concert held from April last year until March this year in 30 cities in 13 countries, as well as behind stories and the members’ honest interviews. CGV directly filmed the entire concert of BIGBANG with “Three CAM”, in order to produce the Screen X version of the film. Three interlinked cameras created realistic angle of view of the concert. Such state-of-the-art technology helps the completed film to realize the sense of immersion and excitement of the concert for viewers on the three-side screen. Plus, computer graphic offers richer information on the screen on the left and right sides. The technology of Screen X gives such unmatched entertainment to viewers.

The collaboration between BIGBANG and Screen X is expected to give a fresh shock to the culture industry of in and out of the country. BIGBANG is a musician who represents Korea. BIGBANG has exercised great influence not only in the field of music but also in the entire cultural world, by carrying out a variety of artistic activities including art exhibitions. CGV’s multi-side theater Screen X is the leading example of Culture Technology, which is given keen attention by not only domestic but also global film industry. The fact that the two powerhouses in the cultural industry have joined forces for a new trial is drawing keen attention. [스타뉴스=배문주 에디터] Popular boy group BIGBANG’s SEUNGRI will appear in a Chinese audition program as a mentor for contestants.

According to Chinese media outlet Sina Entertainment on June 2, SEUNGRI will appear in “GIRLS FIGHTING” (“加油！美少女”), a TV entertainment show of Chinese Dragon Television. 

“GIRLS FIGHTING” is a TV audition program jointly produced by Dragon Television and film investor Beijing Culture. SEUNGRI will appear in the show as a mentor for contestants, along with Chinese singer Chen Yu Fan, Hu Haiquan, and actor Huang Xiao Ming.

SEUNGRI said in a press briefing of the show held on June 2, “I felt burdened at first when I decided to appear in the show as a mentor. I myself had been a trainee and I also failed in a large number of audition programs. I will contestants’ potential rather than their current skills and will help them to grow fast”.

SEUNGRI also mentioned how he is getting along with other mentors, “All of them are so kind to me. We had a good sense of teamwork from the very first time we met. I enjoy the time of shooting. I’ll work harder on Chinese, too”.

Notably, SEUNGRI and Huang Xiao Ming boasted perfect teamwork. SEUNGRI showed a photo in which he and Huang are holding hands together, saying, “He cares for me a lot”. Then, Huang said, “There is a photo in which we’re kissing, why don’t you show that one to people?”, to make the audience burst into big laughter. 

“GIRLS FIGHTING” will be aired on Dragon Television on every Saturday.
