Hello. This is YG Entertainment.

We would like to notify you that BIGBANG’s  guerrilla concert, which was scheduled for this week, has ultimately been cancelled.

While coming up with ideas for various commemorative events in celebration of BIGBANG’s tenth anniversary since debuting, we had planned on holding a surprise guerrilla concert, but the news ended up spreading to the media and external entities in the process of reserving a location.

YG Entertainment and the BIGBANG members worried a great deal after the news of the surprise event broke, due to safety concerns of a large number of fans crowding to get to the guerrilla concert, which became as if the it was announced in advance.

After long and hard consideration, YG Entertainment and BIGBANG would like to let you know that we are canceling the guerrilla concert and are coming up with other ideas to enjoy the 10th anniversary with fans as safely as possible.

BIGBANG Sends Comical Congratulatory Wreath To WINNER’s Concert

A congratulatory wreath sent from boy group BIGBANG to fellow YG Family member group, WINNER, has been gaining attention on the web. The wreath was sent by BIGBANG to congratulate their juniors for their concert.

On May 21 a picture of the wreath circulated online communities because of its witty and comical message. Making a pun out of WINNER’s group name and BIGBANG’s song “Loser,” the message read, “It must be nice being winners. We are losers. BIGBANG.”

Netizens responded to the picture by saying, “BIGBANG seniors were clever and witty,” and “That’s cute.”

Yang Hyun Suk Reveals How YG Entertainment Is Celebrating Its 20th Anniversary

Yang Hyun Suk Reveals How YG Entertainment Is Celebrating Its 20th Anniversary

YG Entertainment is celebrating its 20th anniversary today! May 20 marks the 20th year since the company was founded.

Yang Hyun Suk, the founder of the entertainment agency, debuted in 1992 with Seo Taiji and Boys. In 1996 he opened the company that would foster artists like Jinusean, One Time, Lexy, Se7en, Wheesung, Gummy, Big Mama, BIGBANG, 2NE1, WINNER, iKON, and PSY. The company is also home to actors such as Cha Seung Won, Kang Dong Won, Lee Jong Suk, Kim Hee Ae, and Choi Ji Woo.

To commemorate the 20th anniversary, Yang Hyun Suk told OSEN in an interview that he had passed out rice cakes at the company restaurant.

“I’m not planning any sort of event,” he said. “There are no plans for a party or concert. There are a lot of things to do before launching our new girl group so we don’t have time to spare. Our artists have to work to live so I thought it wouldn’t make sense to take time out to celebrate ourselves.”

There are also no plans for a YG Family concert this year. “People think that we’re a big company, but I think we’re actually far from that goal,” Yang Hyun Suk said. “There are a lot of things I still want to do.”

[Analysis is] Why is BIGBANG Doing a Guerrilla Concert? For their 10th Anniversary or Comeback?

[일간스포츠=엄동진 기자] BIGBANG is to hold a guerrilla concert in Korea.

BIGBANG’s guerrilla concert will take place in Seoul as early as next week, and there are many speculations about why they are holding a guerrilla concert.

Some are saying that BIGBANG is holding the concert to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their debut. BIGBANG debuted in 2006, and this year marks the 10th anniversary of their debut. As they have led the Korean Wave and K-Pop for the last ten years, it is only natural that BIGBANG celebrate their 10th anniversary by putting on a huge show.

Others are saying that this signals their comeback. BIGBANG members will need to serve in the military soon, and this year will be their last as a group. This has been confirmed by the members and their agency several times. If this year is indeed the last year of BIGBANG, they are bound to release a new album and go on a tour, and the guerrilla concert may be the beginning of all that.

As it is with all idol groups, BIGBANG cares a lot about their fans. The guerrilla concert will be a big present for the fans as it will be free and special. SECHS KIES, who was recently signed onto YG Entertainment, was able to make a grand comeback thanks to their guerrilla concert on Infinite Challenge.

An YG official said, “Holding a guerrilla concert was BIGBANG’s idea.”

In June and July, BIGBANG will hold fan meetings in eight cities, Shenyang, Foshan, Nanning, Qingdao, Harbin, Dalian, Chongqing, and Chengdu, and meet 110,000 of their Chinese fans.

In Japan, BIGBANG’s fan club tour titled “BIGBANG FANCLUB EVENT ~FANTASTIC BABYS 2016~” began on April 22. They will be holding 27 concerts in four Japanese cities until May 29. On July 29-31, BIGBANG will also hold concerts at the Yanmar Stadium Nagai in Osaka to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their debut. The concerts are expected to draw a total of 165,000 people.
