BIGBANG’s Seungri Reveals Stories From Recent Conversations With Taeyang And G-Dragon

BIGBANG’s Seungri Reveals Stories From Recent Conversations With Taeyang And G-Dragon

Dec 25, 2018

BIGBANG’s Seungri brought the laughs once again on JTBC’s “Idol Room”!

On the December 25 episode, the variety show aired a Christmas “Thank You Awards” special featuring Seungri, Wanna One, and (G)I-DLE.

Jung Hyung Don and Defconn visited YG Entertainment headquarters, where Seungri was the first person to receive an award.

Defconn said, “Seungri is a major contributor to first place in viewership ratings.” Jung Hyung Don added, “He appeared without a group, but this happened because Seungri himself will soon be a brand. He’s surpassed G-Dragon. He’s the man of viewership ratings.”

Seungri said, “I light-heartedly appeared on ‘Idol Room.’ I’m sorry to my colleagues, but it’s not good to appear on shows as a big group. It’s good to have an impact when appearing.”

He continued, “After my appearance on ‘Idol Room,’ my DJ friends are doing well. They’re doing well at clubs. I saw that [WINNER’s] Song Mino recently appeared on the show. He got a lip piercing. Can he talk with a lip piercing?” When BLACKPINK was brought up, Seungri said, “I don’t think BLACKPINK has any problems. Why did I get No. 1 in viewership ratings? BLACKPINK should’ve gotten No. 1.”

Defconn then asked, “I’ll ask while I’m here. Why did you unfollow ‘Idol Room’ on social media? You unfollowed after filming.” Surprised, Seungri said that he had never unfollowed the show. After checking and seeing that he had unfollowed the account, he followed it again.

It was then revealed that viewership ratings hit a peak when Seungri chose Taeyang as his choice of idol. Jung Hyung Don asked about Taeyang, who’s currently serving in the military, and Seungri explained, “I recently sent him a text message, and he said the place where he is currently stationed is colder than Russia. He’s never been to Russia, but said that it’s colder than Russia.”

Seungri continued, “I saw G-Dragon at the salon when he came out during his break. He said his hair grew so he had to cut it short again. There’s something I feel sorry to G-Dragon about. He waited to see me for an hour. Before, he would’ve said, ‘Why do I need to see you?’ but this time he waited for an hour to see me. I think he might’ve realized in the military who the most successful person is. The first thing I heard when I saw him was, ‘Seungri. I’m a soldier and you’re a celebrity, but I think I’m cooler.'”

In a video message to Taeyang, Seungri said, “Thanks to Taeyang, I was able to maintain the No. 1 viewership ratings spot on ‘Idol Room’ this year. Although top idols came out, I got No. 1 in the name of BIGBANG. Although it’s really cold, please do well in the military, and I’ll see you soon. Good luck with your military service.”

Seungri then said that iKON’s B.I always answers him while sleeping whenever Seungri calls him. He then called B.I, who indeed answered while sleeping. Seungri said, “It’s me,” and B.I replied, “I’m sorry, but who?” He explained, “The person who’s close with Jung Hyung Don,” but B.I replied, “That’s a difficult clue.”

When Seungri asked if he appeared as an unfamiliar number on his phone, B.I answered, “That’s correct. He contacts me via text message or messenger.” Defconn added, “Seungri said he has a complaint. He said he doesn’t know why you’re always sleeping when he calls.”

B.I made everyone laugh when he responded, “It may have all been for this moment.” Seungri then said, “Although you didn’t save my number, you gave me laughter. You should sleep now.” B.I replied, “I think I definitely know your number now,” and Seungri said, “This is the number I’ve been using for three years. Why do you know it now?”

The BIGBANG member then tried to call Song Mino, but he didn’t answer. Seungri then said, “B.I sent me a photo and he saved my number as ‘Let’s really not forget Seungri. Love. Happiness,'” and showed his phone to the camera as proof.

“BIGBANG’s Vacancy is Not a Problem”… YG, iKON·BLACKPINK·WINNER’s Growth

[엑스포츠뉴스=오수정 기자] the K-Pop music scene of 2018 was about YG’s dazzling activities and achievements.

Artists of YG has topped daily music charts of 2018 for 120 days, approximately one thirds of a total year. There are hundreds of artists and agencies releasing tens of thousands of songs every year. Considering that fact, artists of YG dominating music charts for 120 days, one thirds of 365 days, is hard to explain and hard to believe.

iKON’s ‘LOVE SCENARIO’ set a milestone with their ‘no. 1 for 43 consecutive days’, becoming the ‘biggest hit of 2018’. Not only kindergarten and elementary school children, but also overseas fans during the ‘Asian Games’ closing ceremony and world tour locations sang along to ‘LOVE SCENARIO’, a song written in Korean. Many videos regarding the sensation has been uploaded online.

BLACKPINK also dominated music charts for approximately a month after making comeback with the song ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ on June, proving their unrivaled presence as a girl group. ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ also reached 500 million views in 6 months since the song was released, surprising the world. The new record shortened the pre-existing record by one half, while YouTube also selected BLACKPINK’s ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ as the ‘Most Watched K-Pop MV in the World in 2018’.

BLACKPINK’s member JENNIE achieved huge success as a solo artist on November, reaching ‘all-kill’ status on various music charts for 2 consecutive weeks and winning a ‘3-week consecutive triple crown’ on SBS ‘Inkigayo’ with her song ‘SOLO’. The MV for ‘SOLO’ also surpassed 100 million views in an instant and is still popular among global fans.

WINNER’s MINO followed up JENNIE and received the no. 1 baton as a solo artist with his title song ‘FIANCÉ’. The title song ‘FIANCÉ’ written, composed, and produced by MINO dominated music charts for 2 consecutive weeks, presenting his strong presence as an artist and catching both publicity and musicality at the same time unlike his variety image shown through tvN’s ‘New Journey to the West’.

On December 19, WINNER’s ‘MILLIONS’ once again received the no. 1 baton as the final runners of YG in 2018, continuing the no. 1 march by artists of YG in 2018.

In addition to these songs, YG has released numerous new releases including WINNER’s ‘EVERYDAY’, SEUNGRI’s ‘1, 2, 3!’, iKON’s ‘KILLING ME’, and ‘GOODBYE ROAD’. These songs were also placed at the top ranks of music charts and received favorable reviews from global music fans. The artists are also expanding their global popularity and presence through numerous concerts as part of overseas tours for the past few months.

On the competitive music market where it’s hard to even enter the top 10, related officials are reviewing that the reason why artists of YG were able to top music charts for 120 days is that the agency built their image and trust on making good music and contents.

In fact, the music released by YG topped charts not only in Korea, but in many regions overseas. As the YouTube MV view counts of YG artists have surpassed 1 billion this year, their global popularity has been certified for sure.

YG’s has been reviewed to have ‘faced a crisis’ when the members of BIGBANG, YG’s representative group, have enlisted in the army. However, the reason why YG achieved amazing results and milestones this year is because they focused on good music and contents.

Despite the vacancy of BIGBANG, YG’s representative group, iKON, BLACKPINK, and WINNER made a rapid growth to overcome concerns from the outside and establish meaningful results.

YG’s representative producer YANG HYUN SUK has gathered attention by writing, “I miss BIGBANG” as a hashtag on his social media. YG is currently selecting members for a next generation boy group that will follow the legacy of BIGBANG, WINNER, and iKON through a survival program titled ‘YG TREASURE BOX’, that revealed 29 male trainees who will compete to become one of the members. With the program, people are getting high expectations on YG’s steps of 2019.

K-Pop Idols Who Showed Generosity With Huge Donations

K-Pop Idols Who Showed Generosity With Huge Donations

K-Pop Idols Who Showed Generosity With Huge Donations

Dec 21, 2018

With Christmas around the corner, we are all thinking about the perfect presents to give to our loved ones. This applies to everyone including our idols, who often get into the spirit of giving by making meaningful donations to help those in need.

With that being said, here are six idols who showed generosity and brought warmth back to society with huge donations!

1. BTS’s Jin

On December 4, animal protection group Korean Animal Welfare Association announced that BTS’s Jin donated food, bowls, and blankets to the organization. Big Hit Entertainment later confirmed that the idol member had bought the supplies and made the donation himself in celebration of his birthday.

2. BIGBANG’s Seungri

On December 12, Seungri donated 100 million won (approximately $89,000) from the proceeds of his ramen business Aori F&B to Green Umbrella ChildFund Korea to celebrate his birthday. On top of the donation, he and the employees of Aori F&B spent the same day volunteering to distribute coal briquettes.

A week later, Seungri once again showed his generosity by making a meaningful donation to help people with Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

3. Wanna One’s Kang Daniel

On December 10, Kang Daniel celebrated his birthday by donating 12.1 million won (approximately $10,774) to the Miral Welfare Foundation. At the time, he requested that the donations go towards covering medical bills and living expenses for children with disabilities who cannot afford it on their own.

Back in June, Kang Daniel also participated in fashion magazine Elle’s “Tree Planet” project. The artist graced the cover of the magazine’s July issue, from which the proceeds went into planting trees and developing a mini forest near Incheon.

4. AOA’s Seolhyun

Ever since her debut, Seolhyun has been making generous donations for causes she strongly believes in such as supporting victims of the earthquake in Pohang and a school for the deaf in Seoul.

On December 3, Seolhyun made a donation of 50 million won (approximately $44,515) to the Community Chest of Korea. At her request, the donation went towards supporting children from low-income families.

5. Suzy

On December 5, the Life Sharing Practice Movement Center hosted a charity event to visit over 200 homes of the elders and people with disabilities who were living alone and give out ramen and warm blankets.

Suzy had reportedly donated 15 million won (approximately $13,356), which fully covered the expenses of organizing the event. However, this was not the first time she made donations to this particular organization. Last year, the idol donated 100 million won (approximately $89,000) to provide treatment support for children suffering from leukemia.

6. WINNER’s Kang Seung Yoon

On December 18, Kang Seung Yoon made a donation of 30 million won (approximately $26,710) towards the Seungil Hope Foundation in support of people with Lou Gehrig’s disease. The idol had also participated in the 2018 Ice Bucket Challenge back in June, for which he made a generous donation of 5 million won (approximately $4,451).

Kang Seung Yoon said, “I got to know more about making donations through Jinusean’s Sean who sets a great example of giving back not only with words, but also with actions. I’m thankful and happy to be able to participate in such meaningful works.”

Great to see so many kindhearted idols who know the importance of giving back!
