On July 20, BIGBANG’s Seungri held a press conference ahead of the release of his first solo studio album “The Great Seungri!”

When asked about his thoughts regarding YG Entertainment’s future as a businessman, the singer-entrepreneur answered, “I’m a person who has loyalty. I have never once thought about leaving YG and I like YG.”

He continued, “I’m an agency singer who loves YG. You asked me about YG’s future and YG has diverse businesses in food, cosmetics, sports, and more. I think the center of all of these businesses is Hallyu and I think there is great value in the globalization of Hallyu.”

Seungri concluded, “YG hasn’t revealed it yet, but the junior singers to follow in the steps of WINNER, iKON, and BLACKPINK are really diverse and impressive. You can say that the future I foresee for YG is very bright.”

Seungri held a press conference on July 20 to celebrate the release of his first solo studio album “The Great Seungri.”

When asked how it felt to be doing promotional activities by himself, Seungri replied, “I’ve done solo activities and group activities at the same time, but I much prefer group activities. Two is better than one.” He then went on to add, “However, BIGBANG is currently on hiatus, and as the only member who is active, I feel a responsibility to make the hiatus feel less empty for the public.”

Seungri also shared how the other members of BIGBANG had shared words of encouragement before they enlisted. He stated, “G-Dragon especially told me, ‘While we’re not here, I hope you do lots of promotional activities so that our fans don’t feel our empty space that much. I hope you do your best under the name BIGBANG and showcase a side of you as a musician that you haven’t shown before.”

Speaking of enlistments, Seungri shared that he hopes to enlist early next year. He explained, “I want all five members of BIGBANG to be able to stand in front of our fans again as soon as possible. I believe we need to shorten BIGBANG’s hiatus as much as we can.” Seungri shared, “I hope to enlist early next year and reunite with the other members as soon as we can. I hope our fans will keep watching over us and supporting us because we will try to make the hiatus short.”

Seungri will be releasing his first studio album and title track “1, 2, 3!” on July 20 at 6 p.m. KST.

[동아닷컴=전효진 기자] Group BIGBANG’s SEUNGRI is making his solo comeback in 5 years.

Following the comeback D-DAY poster revealed today (20^th) at 12 AM, YG Entertainment activated the 9 AM release and V LIVE counter at the same time, noticing SEUNGRI’s splendid comeback.

Today at 6 PM, SEUNGRI will reveal his first solo album ‘THE GREAT SEUNGRI’ through various music platforms. The title song ‘1, 2, 3!’ and sub-title song ‘WHERE R U FROM’ will be in the front lines. SEUNGRI created MVs for both songs and is planning to repay the fans’ support with his various charms.

The album is composed of 9 tracks, and is organized with various genres including Dance, R&B, and EDM. SEUNGRI will display his growth as a solo artist by participating in the writing and composing of 8 tracks out of the 9 tracks in the album. SEUNGRI stated, “I tried to raise the quality of the album as much as I can, with the help of professional producing teams” and displayed his confidence by adding, “Eventually, great songs were produced”.

The title song ‘1, 2, 3!’ was written and composed by YG’s hit maker, TEDDY. SEUNGRI worked with TEDDY numerous times as a member of BIGBANG, but this will be his first time working with TEDDY as a solo artist. In his work with TEDDY, SEUNGRI stated, “He wanted to create a song that’s ‘possible because of SEUNGRI’ from the first meeting. After watching him create the song ‘1, 2, 3!’, I felt why TEDDY is called ‘god-TEDDY’ one more time”.

WINNER’s MINO and iKON’s B.I helped SEUNGRI as featuring artists. MINO participated in the sub-title song ‘WHERE R U FROM’ and made appearance in the MV, adding his special color into SEUNGRI’s new music. iKON’s B.I also featured in the song ‘MOLLADO’, adding completion to the track. People are wondering what kind of synergy effects the collaboration between junior and senior YG artists will bring for the listeners.

On the juniors that helped SEUNGRI, he explained, “I don’t have to explain, since they’re really good”. He also revealed a behind-the-scenes episode by stating, “We started for fun in the beginning, and eventually it became reality. It wasn’t something planned”.

Prior to making comeback with ‘THE GREAT SEUNGRI’ today at 6 PM, SEUNGRI will meet the fans at 5 PM through V App Countdown Live ‘Hello? Is This SEUNGRI!’, an hour before the release. He will start his solo comeback activities through various performances afterwards.

With comeback ahead, SEUNGRI stated, “I would like to repay the public’s love I have received for over 10 years as the youngest member of BIGBANG”. He revealed his determinations by adding, “Since the other members are enlisted and currently vacant, I will try my best to make up for it and repay for them as well”.

Hours before his first solo studio album “The Great Seungri,” the idol took to his Instagram and wrote, “I am someone who likes BIGBANG’s group promotions more, but these promotions as a solo artist for the first time in five years are very meaningful to me.”

He shared, “If I were to say that I was determined to not let fans feel BIGBANG’s hiatus as much as possible as the youngest member who was left on his own because of the members enlisting, then I believe the hyungs‘ support was a huge driving force behind the completion of my solo album.”

“The best team has been by my side and helped me so that my first solo album in five years could improve and make up for my shortcomings,” Seungri expressed. “I want to sincerely thank Yang Hyun Suk, Teddy, Future Bounce, and all the people who have helped me with this album.”

Addressing fans directly, the BIGBANG member pledged, “I promise to appear in front of everyone more experienced and matured. I think I would be very happy if many people could support and love my solo activities with ‘The Great Seungri.'”

[OSEN=선미경 기자] BIGBANG member SEUNGRI revealed a charismatic poster taken with MINO of ‘WINNER’, for his upcoming release. 

On July 17 at 2 PM, YG Entertainment revealed the third teaser poster for the sub-title song ‘WHERE R U FROM’ from his first official album, through their official blog(www.yg-life.com). 

SEUNGRI’s masculine eyes and sophisticated styling revealed through the poster grabbed the viewers’ attention. 

MINO, who participated in the song as a featuring artist, was emitting strong aura while standing next to him, raising curiosity on the first collaborative product presented by the two artists.

The song ‘WHERE R U FROM’ was co-written by SEUNGRI and MINO of WINNER. The track was composed by SEUNGRI and Future Bounce.

The song is a dance party track that pleases listeners regardless of race and gender, utilizing the globally acknowledged keyword, ‘WHERE R U FROM’. MINO’s irreplaceable charms as a featuring artist adds completion to the song. 

SEUNGRI displayed strong confidence on the song ‘WHERE R U FROM’ by stating, “The fans will be pleased since the song contains my unique style”. 

On MINO who collaborated with him on the song, SEUNGRI mentioned, “He’s good so it doesn’t really need explaining”, raising expectations by fans. 

SEUNGRI will make comeback on the 20^th with his first solo album, ‘THE GREAT SEUNGRI’. It will be his comeback in 5 years since he released ‘Let’s Talk About Love’ back in August 2013, and will be an opportunity to feel SEUNGRI’s unique musical charms rather than his charms as a member of BIGBANG.
