Watch: BIGBANG’s Taeyang And Daesung Discuss Enlisting In The Military Together

BIGBANG members’ reunion after six months of solo tours and promotions was shown on the November 30 broadcast of tvN’s “Livin’ the Double Life.”

“Livin’ the Double Life” is a variety show that documents the lives of musicians Taeyang, CL, and Oh Hyuk on and off the stage.

Due to G-Dragon’s solo tour in Europe, Daesung’s solo tour in Japan, and Taeyang’s solo world tour promotions, the members met up for the first time in six months. Taeyang joyfully walked into rehearsals and caught up with Daesung and Seungri.

Daesung was surprised to see cameras and a filming crew in their dressing room and asked Taeyang about the show. Taeyang explained to him that the show documents musician’s “double lives” and then laughed saying he himself isn’t quite sure what the show is about.

Then, the two BIGBANG members began to talk about fellow YG labelmate and Akdong Musician member Lee Chan Hyuk’s recent enlistment into the Marine Corps.

Daesung said, “I think I’m going to enlist next year, but you can’t go unless there’s an opening right?” to which Taeyang asked, “Isn’t there a way we could match [the enlistment] dates? Let’s match them up and go together.”

Daesung was in favor of the idea while the team’s youngest member, Seungri, sat silently listening to the conversation and bit his nails presumably thinking about his own upcoming enlistment.

Then, the four BIGBANG members, minus T.O.P who’s carrying out his military service, rehearsed for their upcoming concert and had fun joking around with one another. Watch the clip from rehearsals below!

TAEYANG·CL·OH HYUK Shows Unexpected Charms in ‘DOUBLE LIFE’… A Hot Topic + Positive Reviews

[OSEN=김은애 기자] tvN’s new music observation variety ‘Day Job’s a Singer – Livin’ The Double Life (Abbreviated as ‘Double Life’)’ was unrevealed, and displayed the double-lives of top musicians no one ever saw from other programs, different from the glamorous appearances shown on stage.

On the first episode of tvN’s ‘Double Life’ which aired on November 23 10:50 PM KST, back stage off the record of top 1% musicians including TAEYANG, CL, and OH HYUK and their daily lives were revealed, gathering attention. The show had an average viewer rating of 1.5%, and a highest moment rating of 1.9% based on paid-platform households. (Nielson Korea)

CL revealed her unsupported struggles in her life in the States. As she never revealed her private life through a reality program and since people were wondering what she was up to after the break-up of her group, every scene was new and special. Her life in the States was not glamorous as people expected. In fact, it was the opposite. As she abandoned her success in Korea and started as a rookie to become an Asian Pop-star, she had to go through busy schedules, touching the viewer’s hearts.

She also revealed her innermost feelings about the break-up of her previous group. She started out by stating, “I can only tell you my personal stories”. She continued, “It was regrettable. It was hard. I wanted to be together until the end. I wanted to take responsibility”, and eventually burst out in tears. Even during Chuseok holidays, she had to comfort her loneliness through video calls with family and had to burn incense in her house after a performance, to overcome tinnitus and her anxiety symptoms, arousing empathy.

TAEYANG showed how he’s doing on the solo tour. He stated, “If someone asks me what’s the most happiest thing in the world, I would say it’s eating delicious food. There are so many delicious foods in the world”. However, he kept his empty stomach before the concert to perform at his best, displaying professionalism and great self-management.

Besides ‘TAEYANG’, the glamorous top musician on stage, ‘Dong Youngbae’s daily life was also revealed. He said things people couldn’t understand in front of food or got hyped all the time and started dancing, showing his playful side. When he was alone, he stood still due to his tiredness, which was both funny and pitiful for the viewers.

He also displayed his agony as a 12th year musician. He expressed his longing for his members and said, “always miss them”, touching the viewers. On the meeting for the year-end concert ‘LAST DANCE’, he stated “It could really be the last (like the title). That’s why it’s sad”, making the viewers pitiful.

Meanwhile, OH HYUK, who presented Korea’s first ‘Mute Variety’, showed his life as a global band touring in 28 countries including the United States, Canada, and Europe. Jung Hyungdon who once had a project band with them stated, “The most boring band as far as I know”, but then stated, “They are flawless as musicians though”, building up anticipation for an unexpected charm.

Even CL who first felt interest in OH HYUK’s silence started getting frustrated. Eventually she exploded, saying “You really make me frustrated”, shaking head. Defconn sighed and said, “I feel pity for the producer”, making the viewers burst into laughter.

Web users that watched the first episode of ‘Double Life’ stated, ‘It’s sad that TAEYANG is worried about BIGBANG’s last. I hope they make good songs for a long time”, “2NE1’s breakup is really regrettable. CL struggling trying to achieve her dreams made me feel sad. I hope she makes it”, and “OH HYUK has an attractive character and I don’t even need to say this. I’m excited for next week’s episode”, supporting the three musicians.

‘Double Life’ is a music observation variety program which reveals TAEYANG, CL, and OH HYUK’s lives in and out of stage as top 1% musicians. The show airs every Thursday night at 10:50 KST.

“Livin’ The Double Life” PD Praises BIGBANG’s Friendship + Members To Appear In Next Episode

Producing director (PD) Jeon Sung Ho, who is in charge of the tvN variety show “Livin’ the Double Life,” recently opened up about the direction of the show, and teased that the members of BIGBANG will be making an appearance in the upcoming episode.”

The PD began by stating, “CL, Taeyang, and Oh Hyuk were all happy to hear that the first episode was met with a positive response. It took a lot of courage for them to open up about their personal concerns and worries, and I think the response they received gave them a lot of strength.”

He went on to say that “Livin’ the Double Life” differs from other music-based reality shows because it focuses more on telling a complete story. Jeon Sung Ho said, “It wasn’t our original intention, but the first episode dealt with the biggest worries that CL and Taeyang have been grappling with. The rest of the series will follow them as they face their concerns and learn to overcome them. I was really moved by how sincere they were when opening up to the viewers.”

He also mentioned that Oh Hyuk, who didn’t appear in the first episode, will charm viewers in his own way as he said, “Oh Hyuk is a funny person. He’s the kind of person who can make people laugh without saying a word. He’s going to be revealing his new house and he’ll bring more laughs to the show.”

Finally, PD Jeon Sung Ho teased an appearance by the other members of BIGBANG when he said, “Next week’s episodes will feature the members of BIGBANG. I was really moved by the unchanging friendship that the members have forged and maintained since their debut days.”

Taeyang Opens Up About His Concerns And Affection For BIGBANG

On November 23, BIGBANG’s Taeyang appeared on tvN’s variety show “Livin’ the Double Life,” where he talked about his worries and love for his group.

During the show, Taeyang shared how he was worried about going on a long hiatus while in the army. He said, “I always have similar worries with every album release, and while it might never be ‘the end,’ it feels like I’m going to hold my ‘last’ performance [soon] because I have a long hiatus awaiting me…I wonder if it will still be possible for me to release albums and perform on stage after I come back from the army.” Defconn, one of the hosts of the show, was surprised that Taeyang would have such a concern. Jung Hyung Don, another host, commented, “I think everyone, including idols, are worried about their future.”

In another part of the show, Taeyang discussed the songs that he and the other members would perform during their upcoming dome tour in Japan. He expressed his desire to sing less group songs at the concerts because the four of them were not complete without T.O.P.

Taeyang added, “I feel a bit conflicted about [this concert] doing well, because it’s just us four.” Then he sighed and said, “What can we do? We’re done now.” He looked lost in thought as he wondered how he was going to prepare his last good-bye before his enlistment to his Japanese fans.

Taeyang, who was in Thailand for a solo concert when a part of this episode was filmed, also reminisced about the last time he came there two years ago. This time, however, he was alone, and he couldn’t help but express how much he missed his members. He said, “To be honest, I always miss them. Even during this interview, I miss them.”

Taeyang even changed hotels to the one where he and his members had stayed two years ago. He explained, “The performance team booked a different hotel. However, I really liked the times I spent with my members during the MADE Tour at [a different] hotel, so I changed hotels.”

CL X TAEYANG X OH HYUK’s ‘DOUBLE LIFE’, YG’s Marketing or Rediscovery [FULL ANALYSIS]

[마이데일리=신소원 기자] YG’s CL, TAEYANG, and OH HYUK will make appearance in the observation reality show ‘Day Job’s a Singer – Livin’ the Double Life’.

CL, OH HYUK, and producer Cheon Sungho attended the press conference of tvN’s ‘Day Job’s a Singer – Livin’ the Double Life’ on November 22.

Cheon Sungho PD, who directed ‘Cooperation 7’ stated “I really wanted to do a program related to music. I’ve directed ‘Show! Music Core’, but I wanted to do something focused on the people. I had a meeting with a senior who works at YG. We were having causal conversations, and he talked about CL. She sounded very attractive, so I decided to meet her. She was like who I imagined, but different at the same time. She felt sturdy and shiny. I felt like I had to make a program with this person”.

After casting CL, he asked CL about other possible casts and CL successfully helped cast OH HYUK and TAEYANG, who have similar tendencies. Cheon stated, “I thought working with the people you want to work with is the right way to go. Putting the agency aside, I thought musicians doing the program with the people they want to work with would be more interesting”. He continued, “An agency is simply a cooperating partner, so it wasn’t important. The casting was just coincidental. It’s not agency based, and the MCs are from all over the place. It’s an open structure”. The MCs are Jung Hyungdon, Defconn, and Kush.

CL stated on her first appearance in a variety program, “I’ve decided to work in the United States about 3 years ago. The reason why I decided to do this program is to show how I got to work there, and how I’m doing it”. OH HYUK, who previously made appearance in ‘Infinite Challenge’ feebly stated, “I don’t really talk much”. He also showed his goofiness by stating, “In a variety show, you have to say you’re hungry when you’re hungry. But I just thought that to myself”, making the people laugh. Cheon added, “That’s why we have a lot of subtitles”.

CL stated, “I said we have similar tendencies, and I think artists have rather extreme tendencies. I also wanted to show how much time and energy is invested on making one song, since people only get a chance to fancy side”. She also added “HYUK talks a lot in normal life. He’s a really talkative guy”, stating his unexpected charm.

‘Day Job’s a Singer – Livin’ the Double Life’ is tvN’s new music observation variety program where TAEYANG, CL, and OH HYUK reveal their daily lives as musicians. The first episode premiers on Nobember 23 at 10:50 PM KST.
