The 7th Weekly Awards were held on the December 27 episode of MBC Every1’s “Weekly Idol.” On this particular episode, emcees Defconn and Jung Hyung Don dressed up in suits and filmed outside for the first time in awhile. The emcees brought laughs as they claimed the cold weather made their lips freeze.

One of the awards included in the award show was the 2017 King General Best Moment Award. Jung Hyung Don commented, “It may seem grandiose, but it’s honestly just an award for the most memorable scene.”

BIGBANG, Shinhwa, Highlight, TWICE, and GOT7 were listed as the nominees, but the award ultimately went to BIGBANG. The two emcees went directly to YG Entertainment to present the award, but BIGBANG was notably absent.

The staff of “Weekly Idol” urged Jung Hyung Don to call G-Dragon, to which Jung Hyung Don replied, “I don’t know his number.”

Defconn asked his fellow emcee, “Aren’t you guys close? Why don’t you know [his number]?” Jung Hyung Don explained, “I lost [G-Dragon’s number] when I changed my number,” causing the rest of the staff to laugh.

Daesung Says He’s “Not Sad At All” About Members’ Upcoming Enlistments

BIGBANG’s Daesung recently gave an honest answer on how he feels about the group taking a break in activities as more members prepare to enlist in the army.

Daesung appeared on Nippon TV’s “PON!” on December 27 and was asked about BIGBANG’s upcoming enlistments and how he felt about it. Beginning with, “Please wait for us for a little while,” he continued on to say, “I’m not sad at all about our members enlisting. That’s because of the deep gratitude I feel for all the love we’ve received from everyone till now.”

The singer went on to say, “There are some things that all Korean men must do in our lives. We [the members] will all do those things for two years and then return to you. So please wait for us for a little while.”

The four members of BIGBANG who are currently active (Daesung, G-Dragon, Taeyang, and Seungri) recently opened up to their fans about enlisting as they wrapped up their Japanese dome tour and also promised to return as five members with TOP. The four members will send off the year with their “BIGBANG 2017 CONCERT IN SEOUL” concerts on December 30 and 31, and G-Dragon and Taeyang are expected to enlist in the first half of 2018.

Netizens angered after journalist reports rumors about BIGBANG members potentially breaking up

A Korean media outlet is reporting about rumors saying that BIGBANG is facing difficulties in staying together.

According to journalist Kim Yena of TV Report, there are rumors that the veteran idol group of 12 years is slowly stepping towards separation. Multiple factors such as the members' military enlistment, T.O.P's marijuana controversy, Taeyang's impending marriage, and more are named to be the reasons.

Just recently, the rumors gained more strength as G-Dragon revealed to be expanding his business. It's reported that the BIGBANG leader is focusing hard on his fashion brand and has been frequently having meetings with associates of the industry. His recent building purchase is also assumed to be for his fashion business. Along with G-Dragon, Seungri has also been focusing heavily on his business. In fact, the idol star has been frequently posting about his successful ramen restaurants on social media.

As for Daesung and Taeyang, it's stated the two are planning to focus on their individual promotions. Daesung has been promoting mainly in Japan while Taeyang recently announced his marriage to actress Min Hyo Rin. He's also scheduled to enlist next year. Lastly, T.O.P is expected to remain on hiatus for the next several years due to the ongoing harsh criticism, making it difficult for all 5 members to get together as a whole.

On the bright side, it's also stated that there are several members who expressed desires to keep BIGBANG together. However, with multiple inevitable factors, BIGBANG members might have no choice but to walk separate paths. Military enlistment is also a big issue for the group.

Rumors are rumors. Nothing is set in stone but it's unfortunately true that we will not be able to see all 5 members together on stage for a while. With unclear future for the idol group, some are sadly accepting that we might be seeing the end of BIGBANG soon.

Netizens who saw the article posted negative comments about the journalist and said that BIGBANG will never split and remain together forever.

Netizens commented, "As expected this was written by Kim Yena (laughs) why don't you continue praising SM and stop bullying YG? What's up with the nonsense about BIGBANG being doomed and disbanding?", "If you look at Kim Yena's articles she disses YG and keeps quiet about SM.", "Yep, BIGBANG ain't disbanding.", "Who are you to say BIGBANG is disbanding? Are you out of your mind?", and more.

BIGBANG, Super Junior, INFINITE, And More Receive Awards On “Weekly Idol”

MBC Every1’s “Weekly Idol” held its 7th Weekly Idol Awards on the December 27 broadcast of the show.

This year’s concept for the awards show was for MCs Defconn and Jung Hyung Don to personally hand deliver the awards to the recipients. The MCs joked that the Weekly Idol Awards are amongst the top three most prestigious awards next to the Blue Dragon Film Awards and the Grand Bell Awards.

The first category was the “2017 King General Best Moment Award” with BIGBANG, Shinhwa, HIGHLIGHT, TWICE, and GOT7 as the nominees. BIGBANG won and the MCs went to the YG Entertainment headquarters to give them their award. However, they were unsuccessful at meeting BIGBANG and met with iKON instead.

iKON accepted the award on behalf of BIGBANG and also tried to redeem themselves after their last acapella attempt on the show.

For the “It’s Your Song But You Dance Really It Well” Award, the nominees were SEVENTEEN, Wanna One, TWICE, Super Junior, and Red Velvet. Super Junior won the award for dancing perfectly to “Sorry Sorry” at double speed and showing off 13 years of their teamwork.

After receiving the award, Super Junior revealed that Donghae filmed an advertisement after appearing on “Weekly Idol.” This broadcast also meant that Donghae, who previously said he only appears on variety shows once every six years, appeared on “Weekly Idol” again only a month after his last appearance. He joked, “This is a sensitive topic,” surprised everyone by tearing up while accepting their award.

In previous years, the winner of the coveted Daesang (Grand Prize) was selected through random methods such as drawing names, the ladder game, and flicking a bottle cap. Shinhwa member and last year’s Daesang recipient Shin Hye Sung joined the MCs to choose this year’s winner.

This year, they had to play a game of finding candy hidden in flour with their mouths. Shin Hye Sung’s Daesang was passed on to INFINITE who did not promote in 2017, but appeared on the show for a special episode. Defconn chose the “King of Variety” Award which also went to BIGBANG, and Jung Hyung Don picked the “2018 Rising Star Award,” which was given to Red Velvet.
