The Sun Never Goes Down in TAEYANG’s Night

[OSEN=김은애 기자] “Tonight will never end. I hope the memories of tonight will stay in our hearts forever.” It was an unforgettable 120-minute experience. TAEYANG lit up the weekend nights.

On August 26-27, TAEYANG’s “WHITE NIGHT” concert was held at the Jamsil Stadium. It was his first solo Seoul concert in three years and the start of his second solo world tour.

The song list was phenomenal. He kicked off the concert by performing “RINGA LINGA”. Then he sang all the tracks in his “WHITE NIGHT” album including “DARLING” and “WAKE ME UP” as well as his past hit songs such as “LOOK AT ME ONLY” and “WEDDING DRESS”.

He said, ““The sun didn’t go down tonight. I’m so happy to see you here at my concert. It’s been a long time since I did a concert. Three years. I’ve missed you so much.”

▶”WHITE NIGHT”: His first album & concert in three years

On August 16, TAEYANG released “WHITE NIGHT”, his first solo album in three years. “DARLING” and “WAKE ME UP”, the title and subtitle tracks of the album, took the charts by storm in and out of the country.

The album became No.1 on the Billboard World Albums chart and the iTunes chart of 24 countries, which was a new record even for TAEYANG. TAEYANG has participated actively in making the music of the album and the album jacket, which made it even more meaningful.

He said, “This album is more meaningful to me than any other albums. I’m very satisfied with it.”

He sang all the eight tracks of his new album live and sent the audience into a near frenzy.

▶His Truly Outstanding Live Singing

TAEYANG, a member of BIGBANG, is considered as one of the best singers in Korea. At the concert, he blew the audience off their feet with his sweet voice.

What was most surprising is that his live singing was impeccable even when he was dancing. His excellent vocal skills were evident when he sang to the piano version of BIGBANG’s “LAST DANCE” and the acoustic version of “I NEED A GIRL”.

▶Sophisticated stage performance

TAEYANG is also known for his great stage performance. He mesmerized the audience with his dance performance and didn’t even need dancers to fill the stage. There was a female dancer that danced with him from time to time, but TAEYANG’s presence so strong that the stage didn’t seem empty with him alone.

The screen at the back showed images of clouds in the sky, making TAEYANG shine like the sun. TAEYANG used a variety of props wisely such as standing mikes, bright lights, and lifts.

▶A fool for his fans

TAEYANG is famous for being a fool for his fans. He said, “I’ve missed you so much. I was moved yesterday to see how much my fans care for me. I couldn’t sleep. For real. I’m sure you feel the same way. I get excited the most when I do a concert in Korea.”

He expressed how happy he was to see his fans. He went up close to the audience and made eye contact with each one of them. He even passed on his mike to the audience and made them sing. They responded fervently by singing along with TAEYANG.

▶TAEYANG and BIGBANG are inseparable

You cannot talk about TAEYANG without mentioning BIGBANG. TAEYANG sang BIGBANG’s “LAST DANCE” by himself and said, “It’s difficult to sing a song that is usually sung by five people. This song makes me think of BIGBANG members.”

TAEYANG said, “I’m thankful to our fans whenever I sing this song. Meeting BIGBANG members is my biggest blessing and joy. We’re able to stay together for more than ten years thanks to our fans. Thank you for keeping us together”.

▶WINNER’s MINO came to show his support and YOON too, which was quite unexpected

He went up on the stage alone, but he was not lonely. MINO appeared as a surprise guest and they performed “FEAR” together. MINO and TAEYANG performed the song together when MINO was a contestant of Mnet’s Show Me The Money 4 in 2015. MINO and TAEYANG’s joint stage created quite an issue at that time.

MINO appeared on the stage in stylish clothes and his captured the hearts of the audience with his powerful rapping. TAEYANG’s sweet voice was added on to his rap, creating a phenomenal harmony.

Then, YOON appeared out of nowhere. TAEYANG was amidst the audience running about and singing “I NEED A GIRL”. Then, he spotted YOON in the audience. He passed on his mike to YOON, and YOON got to sing a part of “I NEED A GIRL”.

He performed a solo piano version of BIGBANG’s “Last Dance,” and after the performance, he revealed, “It’s hard to sing a song that’s originally sung by five people,” adding, “Singing this song made me think of our members a lot. Meeting the members of BIGBANG was the greatest blessing and happiness of my life.”

TAEYANG and MINO Give a Big Hearty Laugh to Everyone on Knowing Bros

[엑스포츠뉴스=전원 기자] TAEYANG and MINO succeeded in giving a big warm laugh to everyone.

BIGBANG’s TAEYANG and WINNER’s MINO appeared as guests on the August 26th episode of JTBC’s Knowing Bros.

TAEYANG started off the show in a pleasant mood with his jokes. He said, “When he was doing Strong Heart, I was really scared of Kang Hodong. He used to intimidate everyone. I used to go to his waiting room before the shooting began to say hello. He would ask me to show him what I can do. I couldn’t because he was so scary.” Then, he sang “EYES, NOSE, LIPS” to karaoke music and did a really difficult dance move and made the cast excited. His innocent and pure eyes made everyone laugh.

MINO did a good job too in making people laugh. He was dubbed “song finger” after doing elephant spins so well on tvN’s New Journey To The West. He had to compete with Min Kyonghoon, who is also known to be an elephant spin genius. They did a total of three rounds. It was a close game, but MINO became the final winner.

MINO felt comfortable in doing the show because he already knew Kang Hodong from doing tvN’s New Journey To The West together.

But he said, “I’m upset. I love watching this show. When Jung Yong-hwa came on the show, Kang Hodong treated him like his little brother, and I was expecting the same thing.”

But Kang Hodong did not gave him special treatment. It turned out that he was worried that if he acted that way, it would too much for MINO.

MINO went on to say, “I like to have Kang Hodong as my real brother. I like him very much. But he has too many little brothers already.”

He wanted to test how much Kang Hodong cares for him. MINO asked him whom he likes the best among EUN JIWON, Jung Yong-hwa, Lee Sookeun, Cho Kyuhyun, Ahn Jae-hyun, Kim Jongmin, himself, and Lee Seung-gi. The final winner was Lee Seung-gi, but MINO was satisfied with making it to the final two.

TAEYANG and MINO did a parody of the drama Woman of Dignity and made everyone laugh. MINO did triple jump with a jump rope and TAEYANG showed off how he can keep his balance on a gym ball. For fun, TAEYANG also confessed, “I like SM more than YG, for which I have spent all my youth.”

MINO and TAEYANG let go of themselves and made funny jokes, blending in perfectly with the Knowing Bros cast.

TAEYANG & MINO Take Over Knowing Bros with Elephant Spins and Bad Acting

[스포츠조선=이유나 기자] TAEYANG and MINO guided the “bros” into their world of innocent variety shows.

On the August 26th episode of JTBC’s Knowing Bros, BIGBANG’ TAEYANG, who has recently released a solo album for the first time in three years, and WINNER’s MINO, who has become the new up and coming all-round entertainer, appeared as guests.

TAEYANG was annoyed when the cast called him “the Kim Youngchul of BIGBANG a.k.a no fun” and started attacking Kang Hodong.

He said, “When he was doing Strong Heart, I was really scared of him. He used to intimidate everyone.” Kang Hodong protested and said, “Don’t try to make up stories”. TAEYANG responded, “He doesn’t seem to remember. I used to go to his waiting room before the shooting began to say hello. He would ask me to show him what I can do. I couldn’t because he was so scary.”

TAEYANG also talked about Park Myungsoo back in the day. He said, “When we were rookies, Park Myungsoo used to pull our baggy pants up. He truly thought that we were wearing our pants too low and he did it every time he saw us, which was embarrassing.”

Lee Sangmin said, “I used to work with G-DRAGON when he was six years old and a member of Little Roo’ra. I used to take him out on drives when I got a new car.” He asked TAEYANG if G-DRAGON talks about him, and TAEYANG answered “Never” without a moment’s hesitation, which made everyone laugh.

MINO talked about how upset he is because of Kang Hodong. He said, “I thought Kang Hodong and Lee Sookeun would be really nice to me at the waiting room because they know me well. But they only said hi to TAEYANG. They were so different when Jung Yong-hwa came on the show last time.” Kang Hodong explained why he treated him that way and said, “Last time Jung Yong-hwa was on the show, I treated him like a little brother and that was maybe too much for him. So that’s why I’m not like that today.” MINO then talked about the many little brothers of Kang Hodong and asked him whom he likes best. Kang Hodong finally confessed, “I like Lee Seung-gi more than MINO.”

MINO is so good at doing elephant spins that he is dubbed “song finger”. On the show, he competed with Min Kyonghoon, who is also known for doing elephant spins well. MINO earned the nickname when he completed his task successfully after doing ten elephant spins on tvN’s New Journey To The West.

In the first round, Min Kyonghoon and MINO had to do 20 elephant spins and make a hole in the paper to see what was written underneath. Min Kyonghoon succeeded in 30 seconds and MINO in 25 seconds. In the second round, Min Kyonghoon finished 0.7 seconds quicker than MINO. In the third round, MINO won by one second and became the final winner of the game.

TAEYANG and MINO showed off their innocent witty side by doing parodies. They parodied the drama series Woman of Dignity, and their bad acting made everyone laugh. Lee Sookeun made fun of their bad acting and said, “I thought you guys were reading a book.”

Then, TAEYANG read what was on the script said, “I like SM better”. The cast did not take this as a joke and took it seriously. They said, “You should have told us” and made him sit next to Kang Hodong, who is signed onto SM. Seo Janghoon, who is close friends with YANG HYUN SUK, said, “Mr. Yang can be really sulky sometimes. Are you sure you will be ok?” which made TAEYANG have a near mental breakdown.

Watch: Song Mino Takes On Challenge Of Pinching Taeyang’s Cheeks And Speaking Informally

On August 26, WINNER’s Song Mino and BIGBANG’s Taeyang appeared on JTBC’s “Ask Us Anything.”

Although there is a strict hierarchy of respect between seniors and juniors that exists in Korean society and its entertainment industry, for the concept of the program, all the cast members and guests on the show are considered same-age friends no matter their age or seniority in the real world.

As a result, the cast members suggested that Song Mino pinch Taeyang’s cheeks and talk to him informally, although Taeyang is five years older and debuted eight years before him.

Although Song Mino seemed hesitant, Taeyang cooly said, “Come on!” and invited him forward.

Watch what happens when Song Mino finally gathers the courage to talk to Taeyang as if they’re friends:

“I Live Alone” Reaches Record High Ratings Again With Episode Featuring BIGBANG’s Taeyang

MBC’s “I Live Alone” is on a roll! For the fourth consecutive week, the show has recorded two-digit ratings as well beating its own ratings record.

According to Nielsen Korea, the August 25 episode hit nationwide ratings of 8.5 percent for the first part of the show and 11.5 percent for the second part of the show. (The show is split into two parts when being broadcasted in Korea.) This is a 1.5 percent increase from last week’s ratings which hit 10 percent.

The higher ratings for the second half of the show versus the first half can be attributed to the special guest appearance of BIGBANG’s Taeyang, Seungri, and Daesung. It is more impressive because the second part of “I Live Alone” airs after 12 a.m. KST.

Looks like many viewers in Korea joined the BIGBANG members for their pajama party! “I Live Alone” airs on Friday nights at 11:10 p.m. KST.
