[OSEN=정준화 기자] Every performance presented by BIGBANG was the highlight of concert. That is because BIGBANG has numerous hit songs familiar to not only their fans but also the public. From the songs released 10 years ago to the songs of “MADE FULL ALBUM” released recently, the concert was filled with many hit songs.

As such, the concert was like a gift for fans. BIGBANG held “BIGBANG10 THE CONCERT : 0.TO.10 FINAL IN SEOUL” on January 7 and 8 at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul, to meet 60,000 fans.

The set list of the concert was like a package full of gifts. It included all the top hit songs BIGBANG has created for the past 10 years, including “LIES”, “LAST FAREWELL”, “LOSER”, “GOOD BOY”, “IF YOU”, “BANG BANG BANG”, “FANTASTIC BABY”, “SOBER”, and so on, which are so easy to sing along.

In addition, each member’s hit songs were also performed: including SEUNGRI’s “STRONG BABY”, DAESUNG’s “Look at Me, Gwisoon”, G-DRAGON’s “Heartbreaker”, as well as GD&T.O.P’s “HIGH HIGH” and GD&TAEYANG’s “GOOD BOY”. Then, T.O.P performed “DOOM DADA” and TAEYANG sang “EYES, NOSE, LIPS”, to bring the atmosphere at the concert to the climax.

BIGBANG is an unrivalled idol boy group in Korea. The team has kept growing as an artist continuously for the past 10 years since their debut. The team’s influence in the music scene has grown even bigger and bigger as time went by. Music industry insiders analyze that BIGBANG is the only idol group in Korea whose influence is growing even bigger rather than being weakened.

That was all because BIGBANG has never stopped working hard for the past 10 years. Last year, BIGBANG created numerous hits with their “MADE Project”. With two new songs released every month, BIGBANG swept No.1 on music charts and the success went beyond Korea to sweep the global music scene.

With the release of BIGBANG’s new full album in eight years in December last year, BIGBANG reached the peak of their career with “FXXK IT” and “LAST DANCE”. Upon the release of the album, BIGBANG swept No.1 on the real-time charts of eight music-streaming websites in Korea, recording a long-run hit up until now.

 Hard  work  is  never  wasted. Hard-work and consistency are always the right answer. BIGBANG began from scratch, all on their own, reaping harvests just with their arduous efforts and hard-working. The members of WINNER also made a visit to BIGBANG’s concert, taking a photo backstage. WINNER’s Kang Seung Yoon commented, “I’ve succeeded as a fan… Now that I think about it, this is the first picture I’ve taken solely with our members and BIGBANG.”

Most YG artists also sent in garlands with witty messages to demonstrate their love for BIGBANG.

Everyone from YG Entertainment, from the pioneers to the latest additions to the label, showed their support for YG’s hottest group, proving that the legacy of YG is still strong and ongoing.

On January 8, BIGBANG held their encore ‘O.To.10 FINAL IN SEOUL” concert with 30,000 fans.

During the concert, as Seungri passed the microphone to G-Dragon, he said a few witty remarks about the BIGBANG leader. He said, “What about our leader G-Dragon? He’s Asia’s Michael Jackson. Fashion, music.. and even if he just dances half-heartedly, he looks so cool.”

G-Dragon became shy and responded, “Are you teasing me right now?”

Seungri also spoke up about another popular topic amongst V.I.Ps, YG Entertainment’s founder Yang Hyun Suk.

When he first mentioned Yang Hyuk Suk, the fans started to express their disapproval by booing. However, Seungri responded by saying, “Whenever Yang Hyun Suk’s name comes up, fans do this, but the person you all should be grateful to is Yang Hyuk Suk.”

He jokingly scolded the fans as he continued, “If there was no Yang Hyun Suk, there would be no BIGBANG. You might not know, but Yang Hyun Suk has really worked hard.”

Seungri then made the crowd laugh by imitating angry fans when he said, “You don’t know and say things like, ‘I hate Mr. Yang,’ and ‘Mr. Yang is bad.’ But if there were no Yang Hyun Suk, there would be no BIGBANG.” He then asked everyone to give a round of applause to Yang Hyun Suk and all the staff at YG who have worked so hard to get BIGBANG where they are now.

BIGBANG takes the no.1 spot on Inkigayo for three consecutive weeks.

In the afternoon of January 8, BIGBANG’s “FXXK IT” topped the chart of SBS’s Inkigayo. The song is the title track of the group’s recently released “MADE” album.

BIGBANG made a comeback on December 13 last year, and their song “FXXK IT” has now become no.1 on Inkigayo charts for three weeks in a row. The group took the no.1 spot on December 25, 2016, and January 1.

“FXXK IT” is a groovy medium tempo hip hop song that has fun lyrics just like the title. Upon release, the song has dominated the charts.

Meanwhile, BIGBANG, AOA, AKDONG MUSICAN, Seventeen, April, NCT 127, December, Cosmic Girls, Pentagon, MIXX, and Bonusbaby appeared on Inkigayo that day.

Happy New Year to all our readers!

There is a slight change to our music chart scoring this year. The GAON chart will still carry a 25 percent weight, but instead of using just the weekly GAON singles chart, we are starting to incorporate the weekly GAON album chart and the weekly GAON social chart as well. We believe this will get more K-pop artists with international fans onto the chart or have them ranked higher.

After a two-week break, there are a lot of changes in the chart, as four out of the top five songs in the first music chart of 2017 are brand new!

BIGBANG is the big winner this week as they occupied the top two spots with “FXXK IT” at No. 1 and “LAST DANCE” at No. 2. Both songs are title tracks from their “MADE” album, the fifth and last of this series. This full album was originally planned to release before the end of 2015, but it got postponed due to BIGBANG’s World Tour and the members being exhausted after extensive promotions on the first four series. YG Entertainment chose to release this long awaited album on December 13, 2016. This may very well be BIGBANG’s last album as a whole group for a while as some of their members will soon begin their military enlistment.

“FXXK IT” and “LAST DANCE” are two drastically different songs. “FXXK IT” is a medium tempo hip-hop song that starts with a pop melody and incorporates more intense rapping as the song goes along. On the other hand, “LAST DANCE” is a slow R&B ballad with a beautiful melody, with lyrics that reflect BIGBANG’s journey in the past 10 years.

The last time an artist had both the No. 1 and 2 songs on our chart happened almost a year ago. BIGBANG’s label mate PSY did it with “Daddy” and “Napal Baji.” Congratulations to BIGBANG!

Debuting at No. 3 is another top male group, EXO, who enters our chart with their winter ballad “For Life.” It is the title track of EXO’s 2016 Winter Special Album. This sweet ballad is made for the Christmas and winter season. The lyrics are about a man who promises his girlfriend that he will love her for life.

Another new song at No. 5 is from indie duo Bolbbalgan4, one of last year’s breakout artists. Their new song “Tell Me You Love Me” was labeled as a hidden track from their “Red Planet” album. It was planned to release as a follow up single after the album, but the song “Galaxy” unexpectedly got very popular, so the release date was push back to mid-December. “Tell Me You Love Me” is a casual pop song with a rhythmical and bright melody. The frank lyrics are about a pure, innocent girl who just wants her boyfriend to tell her that he loves her.

There is one more new song at No. 6. Moving up 10 spots from No. 16 is Heize’s “Star.” Heize was an up-and-coming female rapper in 2016 and now she scores her first top 10 hit, surprisingly showing more of her singing skills in this R&B ballad. The lyrics are about a woman who wonders about her past love and compares him to a star in the sky.
