T.O.P revealed his expectations were high when he heard Ueno Juri would play opposite him.

Ueno said she didn’t listen to BIGBANG’s songs on purpose. After she knew T.O.P would be acting with her, she didn’t listen to them because she wanted to think of him as for the role of Woo-hyun, instead of as a member of BIGBANG.

“But I heard BIGBANG is having a concert in Japan in the future,” she said. “I will definitely go.”

They also revealed that the two exchanged text messages prior to meeting each other in person.

“I texted her first,” said T.O.P.

But later, Ueno revealed that one of the texts she received was to tell her to watch his new music video “Bae Bae,” drawing laughter from the audience. “I haven’t watched (the music video) yet though,” said Ueno.

The upcoming romantic drama tells the story between Korean man Woo-hyun, played by T.O.P, and Japanese woman Haruka, played by Ueno, both of whom are searching for new love to overcome pains from past relationships.

T.O.P. Discusses Broken Hearts And 'Secret Message'

t-o-p-and-juri-ueno.jpg
T.O.P.'s new web drama "Secret Message" is about dating and heartbreak. At the October 28 press conference for the drama T.O.P. suggested that he knows what it's like to have a broken heart.

That's part of what interested the actor and Big Band singer in the role.

"I was fascinated by the interesting set-up of the drama," he said. "It appeals to you whether your heart has been broken or not. I thought it would be fun to depict such a story."

T.O.P.'s "Secret Message" character Woo Hyun is a romantic. He clings to his romantic notions despite the painful results of his first love. He meets Haruka, played by popular Japanese drama and film actress Juri Ueno. Haruka also had a painful past but she is optimistic about the possibility of falling in love again. They both believe in the possibility of true love but they have a lot of emotional scars.

In real life T.O.P. aka Choi Seung Hyun says he has not had a lot of time for dating.

"While working in this industry, I have had few opportunities to date. That's why I was drawn to the character of Woo Hyun."
He meets plenty of beautiful, interesting and talented women. But between acting and performing with BIGBANG, his schedule is pretty full.

"I've barely had three relationships within the past ten years," he said.

When the reporters laughed, he assured them he was not joking.

T.O.P. has been the most successful member of BIGBANG when it comes to landing acting roles. He appeared in the dramas "I Am Sam," "Iris" and "Haru." He also had roles in several films, including "Nineteen," "71: Into The Fire," "Commitment" and "Tazza: The Hidden Card."

"Secret Message" is a Korean-Japanese production which airs in early November via Naver TV Cast and Line TV. "Secret Message," is co-produced by Korea's CJ E&M, Japan's Amuse Inc. and Line Corp., a Japanese subsidiary of the Korean portal site, Naver.

The "Secret Message" cast also includes Lee Jae Yoon, last seen in "Heart To Heart," Jung Yu Mi, last seen in "The Maids," and Yoo In Ah, last seen in "You Who Came From Another Star."

ueo.jpg
A production press conference for the web drama "Secret Message," starring Korean rapper T.O.P., of BigBang, and Japanese actress Ueno Juri, was held at the Imperial Palace Hotel, Nonhyeon-dong, southern Seoul, today.

"Secret Message" is a joint Korean-Japanese production web drama, depicting a love story among young adults. T.O.P will play a Korean man Woo-hyun and Ueno Juri will feature a Japanese woman Haruka.

"It has been seven years since my last drama "Iris." I have tried my best with a strong sense of responsibility to show people how I have improved as an actor," said T.O.P. during the press conference. "Because I enjoyed Ueno Juri's dramas, I was very excited and was looking forward to meet her when I heard she was cast as my partner."

"I was worried a little bit about the language barrier before filming," said Juri. "However, I felt like there existed between me and T.O.P. a sort of telepathy, which made me focusing well on the filming, though I could not understand Korean."

"Secret Message" will be aired in 18 episodes and each episode runs for about 10 minutes. The first episode will premiere on next Monday at 8 p.m., via video streaming sites Naver TV Cast and LINE TV. DramaFever Taps K-Popstars BIGBANG for First Original Doc

bigbang
DramaFever, which made its name as a digital distribution source for Korean television dramas and other international TV fare, is making its first foray into original programming as solo producers.

The streamer will produce and distribute a concert documentary featuring the popular Korean pop group BIGBANG. The production, “BIGBANG: Made Concert 2015,” follows the internationally popular boy band on the U.S. leg of their world tour, playing sold-out shows in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and New Jersey. The film is directed by Mark Haney, who previously produced shows and tours for artists like Jay-Z, Rihanna, and Britney Spears.

DramaFever has previously co-produced two original drama series, “Heirs” and “Tomorrow’s Cantabile,” with Hwa & Dam Pictures and Group 8, respectively. This documentary will be both DramaFever’s first fully in-house original project and its first unscripted effort.

For its first fully original endeavor, DramaFever is taking a calculated stab at its core audience. “BIGBANG: Made Concert 2015” is likely to appeal to females in the 18-24 demographic that make up the majority of DramaFever’s existing user base. These are not only the audience members most engaged with the DramaFever platform globally, but also, as millennial and post-millennial media consumers, those most likely to be receptive to original streaming content.

Historically speaking, K-pop and streaming video have proved a potent mix. The genre, which commonly features bouncy danceable tracks and colorful, highly stylized videos, has been a hit on platforms such as YouTube. The video giant famously catapulted Korean novelty rapper Psy to international fame with “Gangnam Style,” which is the platform’s most-watched video with close to 2.44 billion views, and it has shown impressive though more modest global returns for acts such as Hyuna, Girls Generation and BIGBANG, which have found previously unknown buy-in from western audiences through the platform.

The documentary will be available for DramaFever premium subscribers on Nov. 6 and to non-subscribers on Nov. 11. The series is housed on a dedicated subsite, dramafever.com/bigbang, which also contains licensed content from the band designed to build and maintain its fan base.
