YG Entertainment’s upcoming sitcom “YG Future Strategy Office” has revealed brand-new stills of the female stars who will be appearing on the show!

The star-studded roster of celebrities who will be making cameo appearances on the new mockumentary sitcom include Sunmi, Yoo In Na, Chungha, Apink’s Son Naeun, and model Kang Seung Hyun.

BIGBANG’s Seungri will be starring in the sitcom as an ambitious employee who is relegated to the YG Future Strategy Office, a powerless department staffed by the company’s outsiders. Seungri embarks on a quest to save YG Entertainment in order to regain the love of Yang Hyun Suk and return to his inner circle.

In the hopes of helping iKON rise to the top of the K-pop industry, Seungri seeks out Sunmi and asks her to go head-to-head with the boy group in a music battle. When Sunmi shows a less-than-enthusiastic response to his request, Seungri ends up having to turn to Chungha instead. However, Chungha and iKON’s music battle doesn’t quite go according to plan.

Sunmi later commented, “Appearing on ‘YG Future Strategy Office’ was a fun experience,” while Chungha remarked, “I was relieved that [Seungri and iKON] did a great job taking the lead. I really had a lot of fun during filming.”

Meanwhile, Son Naeun will appear in the sitcom as a woman on a spiteful mission. After Seungri makes things difficult for her sister, professional golfer Son Se Eun, the Apink member seeks him out in order to avenge her sister.

Yoo In Na and Kang Seung Hyun will also be making cameo appearances as Seungri’s YG Entertainment colleagues.

October 1, BIGBANG’s Seungri held a V Live broadcast where he talked about the upcoming Netflix sitcom “YG Future Strategy Office.”

Seungri said, “‘YG Future Strategy Office’ is made up of eight episodes that put a comedic twist on the various things that go on inside of YG. A lot of people are wondering if it’s too much about the agency, but that’s not the case. I think the subject of people overcoming things one-by-one in this perilous world will be relatable to viewers.” He added, “It’s just that the character’s name is Seungri. He’s actually different from me in real life.”

The BIGBANG member then called the different stars that appear on the sitcom. He first called iKON’s Bobby, who, after recently changing his number, didn’t realize at first that it was Seungri calling.

When Seungri asked what it was like filming for “YG Future Strategy Office,” Bobby said, “Acting wasn’t easy. This project was unlike anything YG’s done before, so it was fresh and fun. And you’re the main character, so I think it’ll do well.”

Seungri got rejected in his attempt to call WINNER’s Song Mino, when a stranger answered and told him he had the wrong number. Seungri, dismayed, said, “Why don’t these kids ever tell me when they change their number?”

He then called Bobby again to track down B.I and Song Mino, saying, “Are there any iKON members next to you? Do you know B.I’s number? What about Song Mino’s number?”

On the sitcom, Seungri said, “We’re going to dive into all of the rumors you’ve heard about YG, starting with the cafeteria. There are different hidden YG artists and famous Korean stars appearing on the show. Please look forward to the very funny ‘YG Future Strategy Office.’”

Seungri then got B.I’s number and tried to call him, but the iKON leader didn’t answer. Seungri, saddened, said, “This is heartbreaking.” However, right before the show ended, B.I returned his call. He said, “‘YG Future Office’ is like a B-level makjang variety. Personally, I think it’s fun, so I don’t think it’s going to bomb.”

“YG Future Strategy Office” airs on October 5.

SEUNGRI on ‘YG Electronics’, “YG’s Weakness and Sensitive Issues into Laughter”

 

[연합뉴스=이은정 기자] A Real Sitcom by YG·NETFLIX… Global Premiere on the 5th.

“YG’s market cap fell drastically after BIGBANG members’ enlistments and various issues regarding artists. President YANG HYUN SUK is said to spend every night with whiskey, refusing to believe that JYP has a higher market cap than YG”.

Group BIGBANG’s SEUNGRI craftily revealed YG Entertainment’s crisis as the advisor for YG Strategic Data Headquarters, while dressed in a clean suit with glasses. He strongly stated, “To bring fresh waves into YG, I will try my best with my strengths and ambitions”. SEUNGRI’s self-diss which also included some actual ‘facts’ made everyone in the scene burst into laughter.

The event happened during the press conference for the real sitcom ‘YG Electronics’, held on October 1 in JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square, Seoul. 

‘YG Electronics’, which is an abbreviation of ‘YG Strategic Data Headquarters’ is a real sitcom set to premiere exclusively through NETFLIX, the global video service provider. The sitcom will cover the story pf SEUNGRI struggling to get back YANG HYUN SUK’s trust, after being demoted to a department which everyone tries to avoid.

While SEUNGRI confidently states, “President YANG is the father in YG, but I am the father pf YG Electronics”, the others talk behind him. The scene makes the viewers feel pity. The show was directed by PD Park Junsu, known for his previous ‘B-rated variety shows’ including Mnet’s ‘God of Music’ and ‘UV Syndrome’. The production staff confidently explained the show with phrases such as ‘The maestro of B-rated sitcoms’ and ‘Crazy real sitcom’.

SEUNGRI introduced, “The charming point of the show is that everything is based on a true story, which actually happened in YG”. He continued, “I felt, ‘Would this be okay’ while filming and felt no discomfort since these events were real. It really is real”.

“We cover everything from artist contract contents to stories the fans and public already know about. When I asked the PD if it would be okay to talk about it, he replied, ‘What’s wrong with mentioning things everyone know about’, so I agreed. We mention sensitive issues and our weaknesses, but transcend them into laughter. Haha”. (SEUNGRI)

PD Park Junsu, who attended the scene, mentioned that YANG HYUN SUK’s implicit permission and his determination to resign from the agency made the everything possible. He explained, “I’ve been caricaturing the dark side of the entertainment industry, and felt YG has a lot of dark sides”, and laughed. He explained the background by stating, “I planned the show while thinking it would be a good idea for YG to have an essential department which decides everything, like the future strategic department in Samsung Electronics”.

PD Park originally chose president YANG as the main character. He stated, “The president refused at once”. He continued, “YG has been struggling recently while he (president YANG) also has a panic disorder. That’s probably why he refused. An earlier program didn’t do so well either. He recommended SEUNGRI who resembles him the most”, making everyone laugh.

To add realness in the show, he actually tricked the cast by making separate scripts for the production staff and the cast, capturing live reactions.

SEUNGRI stated, “There were traps here and there, while some of the cast didn’t match people written on the script”. He emphasized, “It was fun filming since it felt half drama, half variety, and half live. We aimed for real reactions and real conversations, which will confuse the viewers on whether its real or written”. 

The sitcom will feature not only SEUNGRI but also other artists from YG including BLACKPINK, WINNER, iKON, YOO BYUNG JAE, and actress YOO IN NA. Celebrities from other agencies such as Sunmi from Wonder Girls, Apink Son Naeun, and singer Chung Ha also appeared to help create the show.

SEUNGRI stated, “We were able to cast Sunmi because I knew her since she was in Wonder Girls, while Son Naeun gladly accepted our request despite her busy schedule. Many people will appear on the show. There will be interesting elements in every episode”.

On the question whether casting K-Pop artists was done to target the idol fandom, he replied, “People will feel empathy while watching a person fall and struggle to survive. There will be touching moments later on”. 

PD Park added, “Even a 70 years old lady living in Oklahoma will be able to enjoy the show”. He continued, “People will feel empathy on a story about the struggles of a popular star”.

SEUNGRI also mentioned that the program made him realize that he’s not a funny person.

“PD Park’s philosophy on comedy was so certain, and difficult. I learned that there are strong and weak laughing points”. (SEUNGRI)

On other difficulties while filming, SEUNGRI mentioned the noise near the filming scene. He explained, “Since the office of YG Electronics resided next to the construction scene of YG’s new headquarters, we couldn’t use any audio due to the noise”.

PD Park made the people laugh by adding, “SEUNGRI’s pronunciation will sound bad since he talked too fast, to finish filming while it was quiet. He is talking in Korean, but please turn on Korean subtitles”.

Meanwhile, on the question that asked about SEUNGRI’s enlistment, he replied, lIt will be early next year”. He added, “I will join as soon as possible to fasten the reunion of BIGBANG”.

[SC SCENE] “YG in Crisis.. Will They Overcome”… Park Junsu’s Determination on ‘YG Electronics’ (COMPREHENSIVE)

 

[스포츠조선=정준화 기자] Will SEUNGRI be able to save YG Entertainment from crisis. The story is fiction, but we should pay attention if the program’s success will positively impact YG’s stock prices. The fact that ‘business man SEUNGRI’ and producer Park Junsu who started fake documentaries through Mnet ‘God of Music’ is raising anticipation on the upcoming show.

The program will premiere through NETFLIX. It will cover the story of SEUNGRI who gets demoted to YG’s Strategic Data Headquarters, but struggles hard to save YG Entertainment and get back to the president’s arms.

The press conference for ‘YG Electronics’ was held on October 1, 11 AM in JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square, Seoul. SEUNGRI ran a presentation on the behind story of the program’s birth and vision prior to tue press conference, gathering the attention of viewers.

SEUNGRI grabbed everyone’s attention with his opening, “YG is currently in crisis”. He continued, “Due to BIGBANG members’ enlistments and various issues regarding YG artists, we are in crisis. It’s said that YANG HYUN SUK keeps whiskey with him at all times, due to JYP’s market cap”, making everyone burst into laughter. He added, “We’ve thought hard to recoup YG from crisis. That’s why I decided to become the supervisor for YG Electronics”. 

He stated “We’ve done our best in filming the show. I am confident to say that the show will be fun to watch. NETFLIX is working with us since they think this will work. I believe it. I waited for the premiere, since I was looking forward to our hard work. It makes me nervous, yet excited”. 

SEUNGRI added, “I’ve been through a lot, after 13 years in the entertainment industry. Being a member of BIGBANG gave me survival instincts, which is the reason why the president told me, ‘It’s now time for SEUNGRI to take on sone work’. That’s how I got to be part of the project”. He continued, “‘YG Entertainment’ was produced with importance. YG without BIGBANG now needs something fresh and new”.

PD Park Junsu who directed the show is a maestro of fake documentaries, known for producing ‘God of Music’. He explained, “I’ve been steadily working on caricaturing the dark side of the entertainment industry. 

To me, YG Entertainment had the corresponding dark side. I planned the program after imagining an important division in YG, like the future strategies department in Samsung Electronics. I originally chose YANG HYUN SUK as the main character, but he instantly refused. Some earlier programs didn’t do so well, so he recommended SEUNGRI, who resembles him the most”.

SEUNGRI emphasized, “It’s based on a true story. I wondered if it would be okay to talk about these things while I was acting. I was worried, but felt comfortable while acting. It was because the events actually happened. The acting is real”.

He made a joke about the cast by explaining, “YOO BYUNG JAE, JINU, and LEE JAIJIN took part. They have low salaries within the agency. We cut down labor costs and put more budget on the quality. I also participated at family price”, making everyone burst into laughter.

The story seems to be interesting. SEUNGRI stated, “I was surprised after reading the script. It contained sensitive issues, so I asked the producer, ‘Would it be okay’. He responded, ‘What’s wrong about talking about things people already know’, and I agreed. I decided to do my best to make it interesting if I’m going to do it anyway. The show will contain internal stories that will make the viewers feel, ‘Is it really okay to talk about it?’.

PD Park Junsu added, “President YANG HYUN SUK implicitly gave me permission while I also determined to resign from the agency. That’s why everything was possible. The writers did a great job in writing the script. I would like to express my gratitude. I was really nervous, due to all the tiptoeing around. I’m still ready to get scolded”.

Meanwhile, ‘YG Electronics’ will premiere on the 5th as a NETFLIX Original Series.

Seungri attended the press conference for the Neflix sitcom “YG Future Strategy Office” on October 1.

The mockumentary sitcom stars BIGBANG’s Seungri as a highly ambitious employee who ends up being relegated to the YG Future Strategy Office, a powerless department staffed by the company’s outsiders. Seungri will try his best for the revival of YG Entertainment in order to return to the arms of the CEO.

Seungri expressed excitement for the show, saying, “I tried to do my best. I wanted the show to be out really fast, and now I feel so excited that I get to share this with everyone.” He also explained that the show is partly based on real life. “While filming the show, I wondered whether I could really share these stories.”

He continued, “Since the establishment of the company, Korea’s top agency YG Entertainment has become the best through producing various stars. However, we faced many different challenges. The absence of BIGBANG is one example. Thus the skyrocketing market value of YG Entertainment started to fall. It is rumored that YG’s CEO Yang Hyun Suk is up all night drinking whiskey after hearing that JYP’s market value is higher than YG’s.”

Seungri revealed that he will return to his ambitious young self, saying, “When I first arrived in Seoul to audition to become a trainee, I looked at 63 Tower and promised myself that I will own that building one day. Just like then, I am burning with ambition right now. This crisis is just an opportunity for me.”

He went on to say, “I’ve gained great survival skills while working as a member of BIGBANG. I think that’s why the CEO gave me a chance to participate in this important project. ‘YG Future Strategy Office’ will be a turning point for me. What I do best is ‘putting in effort.’ I am here because I work hard. Do you all know why Netflix is working with me? It’s because they believe in me.”

“YG Future Strategy Office” will start airing on October 5. Not only will artists from YG Entertainment such as WINNER and BLACKPINK appear but also special guests such as Sunmi, Apink’s Son Naeun, and Chungha are set to also appear in the sitcom.

Today (29th) at 12 AM, the MV for ‘RINGA LINGA’ surpassed 100 million views on YouTube, proving its steady popularity and influence. YG Entertainment revealed a special congratulatory poster to celebrate the event through their official blog.

With the surpassing of 100 million views, BIGBANG became the group with the most videos with over 100 million views in K-Pop.

The 15 MVs released by BIGBANG with over 100 million views besides ‘RINGA LINGA’ include ‘FANTASTIC BABY’, ‘BANG BANG BANG’, ‘BAD BOY’, ‘BLUE’, ‘BAE BAE’, and more.

The MV for ‘RINGA LINGA’ released on November 2013 grabbed the viewers’ attention in an instant with TAEYANG’s powerful and dynamic Hip-Hop influenced choreography.

As TAEYANG was known to perform soft R&B songs such as ‘Wedding Dress’, ‘Look at me only’, and ‘I need a girl’, the song ‘RINGA LINGA’ became a hot topic among the public.

The Korean Business Research Institute has revealed this month’s brand reputation rankings for idol groups!

The rankings were determined through an analysis of the consumer participation, media coverage, interaction, and community indexes of various idol groups, using big data collected from August 27 to September 28.

This month, BTS topped the list with a brand reputation index of 26,342,509, which is a 9.06 percent decrease from their May index of 28,967,969. The Korean Business Research Institute shared that the words “surprising,” “set records,” and “cool” ranked high in BTS’s link analysis, while keyword analysis showed that the highest-ranking related terms included “Billboard,” “UN,” and “YouTube.” Their positivity-negativity analysis showed 94.3 percent positive reactions.

Wanna One came in second with a brand reputation index of 10,693,980. This is a 44.66 percent decrease from May for the group.

BLACKPINK ranked third with a brand reputation index of 9,957,919. This is a 62.22 percent increase from May for the group.

BIGBANG’s Taeyang has achieved a new YouTube milestone with one of his solo music videos!

In 2013, Taeyang made a solo comeback with digital single “Ringa Linga,” which was later included on his second studio album “Rise.”

On September 29 at approximately 12:08 a.m. KST, the music video for “Ringa Linga” surpassed 100 million views on YouTube almost five years since its release on November 9, 2013.

This is Taeyang’s second solo music video to do so, after “Eyes, Nose, Lips” from the same album.

YG Entertainment’s upcoming sitcom “YG Future Strategy Office” has released new stills of the many YG artists who will be appearing on the show!

The new mockumentary sitcom will star BIGBANG’s Seungri as a highly ambitious employee who is determined to save YG Entertainment. After being relegated to the YG Future Strategy Office, the company’s least influential department, Seungri struggles to regain the love of Yang Hyun Suk and return to his inner circle.

The newly released photos offer a sneak peek of the various YG Entertainment artists who will be joining Seungri on the sitcom. BLACKPINK looks amused while dining with Seungri in the company cafeteria, WINNER and iKON appear to be working together with Seungri on different projects, and Akdong Musician’s Lee Soo Hyun and Lee Hi show off their natural chemistry while sharing a cup of coffee.
