Instagram reveals which Korean celebrities topped with the most followers and likes

With the final month upon us, social media Instagram has revealed its yearly statistics for Korean celebrities, unveiling who has the most followers, who received the most likes, and more.

Publishing the stats on December 3rd, G-Dragon records with the most followers out of all Korean celebrities with 6.6 million followers. Girls’ Generation‘s Taeyeon comes in 2nd with 5.3 million followers.

In another category, BIGBANG‘s T.O.P tops at #1 for having the most amount of followers in a short amount of time, followed by former Girls’ Generation member Jessica and her younger sister and f(x) member Krystal in third.

An initial line-up for the 2015 SBS Gayo Daejun has revealed and it involves most of your favourite Korean pop acts!
On December 3rd, an initial line-up of the program revealed that BIGBANG, Wonder Girls, Girls’ Generation, CNBLUE, SHINee and 2PM will be joining the year-end ceremony alongside GOT7, VIXX, INFINITE, B1A4, TEEN TOP and more.

Although the line-up has been released, it was clarified that it may still won’t be final and be subject to change.

The full and confirmed line-up will be published on SBS’ official homepage prior to their year-end ceremony scheduled for December 27th.

While BIGBANG vocalist Taeyang calling out his peers for not sticking around to group win Artist of the Year was clearly the most discussed event of the 2015 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) held in Hong Kong on Wednesday, something else he said could have a much greater impact on fans of the superstar K-pop group.
"It may be difficult for all five of the BIGBANG members to attend MAMA all together from now on," Taeyang told the crowd as the five members of BIGBANG accepted the award.

"It was an honor to be able to put on the kind of performances we wanted to through MAMA and thank you for the great award."

In terms of media and fan reaction across the Internet, the seemingly earthshattering ramifications of that statement were overshadowed in favor of what the singer said next.

"If there's one thing that leaves much to be desired, it's that we wished for the award ceremony to be a place of celebration until the end, but many singers aren't at their seats," Taeyang griped, referring to the AsiaWorld-Expo's near-empty VIP section.

A rep for Mnet told the website Kpop Fighting, one of the few to pick up on the significance of Taeyang's ealier line, that the reason for the mass exodus, reportedly leaving only the members of MONSTA X as the only artists watching BIGBANG receive the award, was beyond their control.

"Many wanted to stay, but they had no choice but to leave early for other schedules or catch a plane," The rep said.

"BIGBANG's juniors iKON also had to leave in the second half of the awards ceremony, because they had other schedules to attend to."

Of the major Korean entertainment websites in the West, eNEWS, a subsidiary of Mnet which runs the awards ceremony, was one of the few news outlets giving the issue any prominence with an article Thursday entitled "Was Taeyang Hinting At BIGBANG's Army Enlistment In Acceptance Speech?"

It's a reasonable question, particularly in light of the fact that all eligible males in South Korea between the ages of 18 and 35 currently must enroll for between 21 and 24 months of military service in South Korea (the length of mandatory enrollment changes by several months depending on which branch of the military that they serve in).

Any consistent observer of the K-pop scene knows that BIGBANG would be far from the first band to be derailed by their country's ongoing conflict with the North. And with four of the members in their late 20s, it is really a matter of when rather than if they will have to (at the very least) put BIGBANG on hold in order to serve their country or risk prosecution from the federal government.

BIGBANG fan Susanna Lam, only one of two eNEWS readers to comment on the story, was crushed by the revelation.

"I feel so sad," she wrote. "You guys are always the best. I love you."

BIGBANG is recording double crown on Gaon’s yearly chart for 2015

On the 4 this year, Gaon released ranks on the charts of different categories for the year 2015 from January to November.
Gaon said, “BIGBANG’s ‘LOSER’ and ‘BANG BANG BANG’ are in No.1 on the yearly digital chart and download chart, respectively, for the period from January to November, 2015.”
Gaon also said, “Naul’s ‘Living in the same time’ is in No.1 on the yearly streaming chart and Lim Chang-jung’s ‘Love Again’ on the yearly BGM chart.”
“The No.1 on yearly album chart is taken by EXO’s ‘EXODUS’ (Korean ver.) and by Soh Chan-hwee’s ‘Tears’ on the chart of most-selected songs at Karaoke rooms”, added Gaon.
“Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards” whose awardees are selected by the objective records on Gaon’s charts for different categories will be hosted on February 17, 2016, at Jamsil Students’ Stadium in Seoul.

In the yearly chart of Gaon for the year 2015, BIGBANG is in No.1 on music chart and EXO is in No.1 on album chart for the period from January to November this year.
According to Korea’s official music chart Gaon, BIGBANG’s “LOSER” took No.1 on digital chart and “BANG BANG BANG” is in No.1 on download chart for the period from January to the fourth week of November this year.
Naul’s “Living in the same time” is in the second place, with BIGBANG’s “BANG BANG BANG”, BIGBANG’s “BAE BAE”, and EXO’s “CALL ME BABY” staying in the third, fourth, and fifth places, respectively, on the yearly digital chart of Gaon.

YANG made BIGBANG further consolidate their status as Korea’s best idol group, and successfully launched rookie group iKON. “World-star” PSY is sweeping music charts once again, while the project for CL’s solo debut in the United States is being proceeded smoothly. Plus, YG has completed contract renewal with PSY and BIGBANG, YG’s leading artists. YG artists rode high and YANG has always given his best help.

The climax that best-showed such enormous success of YG for this year was “Mnet Asian Music Awards”. BIGBANG took the best song’s award and best singer’s award, which are two of the three grand prizes given in the awards. The finale of the festival was given by PSY and the hottest issue created by the festival was 2NE1 who appeared on the stage out of nowhere. Group iKON also proved the big potential of themselves as a “monstrous rookie”, singing three songs in a row.

The key for the outstanding success of YG for this year was of course YANG HYUN SUK. He dominated Korea’s music scene with full energy and charisma, and has always given great success to YG based on his meticulous planning with rich sensitivity. Daily Sports had an interview with him, to talk about the year 2015 and the next year, right after PSY’s press meeting held on December 1.

- PSY has successfully launched his new album.

“Looking at him consistently feeling burdened by the unexpected success of “Gangnam Style’, I had a hard time, too. The success of the new album is the outcome of PSY’s hardships, efforts, and sweat. What I did was just staying on his side and giving some condolences. I really wanna give a big applause to PSY”.

- PSY’s new songs are creating sensation now. What is your personal favorite other than ‘’DADDY’’ or ‘’NAPAL BAJI’’?

“I personally like ‘Dream’, which is a song dedicated to the late Shin Hae-chul. I think everyone in my generation has some memories about him. I fell in love with XIA’s voice in this song. I really liked his voice, to an extent that I felt sorry for XIA that I haven’t realized how good his voice is so far. I understood why he is so popular. I will recommend him that he perform with PSY for PSY’s concert this month. I want to see how he sings on the stage directly”.

- You have renewed the contract with BIGBANG and PSY, the two most popular artists of YG.

“You know, the only YG artists who can call me a brother are BIGBANG and PSY. The others call me president, I don’t know why but that may be because they are much younger than me. Haha. What I mean is that even after these guys retire or move to another company, they will still be my brothers. As such, I have a big trust for them. If parents have their child get married, they will not live with the child any longer, but that does not mean that they are not family, for example. In some sense, because our relationship was not based on business in the first place, this kind of deep bond is possible. I met and communicated with BIGBANG every day from the days they were trainees. PSY had had a hard time before he joined YG, so he is used to difficulties he could face while working in this industry. So, it is easy to work with him. I and PSY always say to each other, ‘Even after we retire, we’re still together’. So, we’re like close friends”.

-The biggest issue created by this year’s ”MAMA” was appearance of 2NE1, I guess.

“That was a surprise gift for fans who really miss 2NE1. To keep it secret was so important. The members took different flights to go to Hong Kong and they did not went close to the awards’ venue before actually standing on the stage. So, they could not even do any rehearsal for the performance. Of course, they could not stay in the waiting room as well. After their surprise performance at MAMA, many people are curious about their comeback plan, but there still is no specific comeback plan for 2NE1. That was just a surprise gift for fans who have missed 2NE1 for a long time”.

- BIGBANG played bigger role than expected for this year, too.

“BIGBANG means a lot to me. Plus, they have always been the best group for me. I thought myself, if I could ever produce a boy group like them again. I sometimes think maybe I cannot. Looking at these guys singing in the music awards, I was really impressed. They just changed the temperature of the awards. Of course I doubt if I could ever produce a group like them again”.

- You put most of your focus on BIGBANG this year.

“I have this absolute trust in BIGBANG. They are always good on any kind of stage. I’ve been working with them for nine years and for Jiyong and TAEYANG, I first met them 15 years ago. What is really surprising for me is the fact that they grow year after year. You know, everyone has ups and downs, but this guys have had only ups so far. Now, I feel even relieved when they are on the stage. That feels really rewarding. This year, four months of promotions were carried out for BIGBANG. That was the highest priority project for YG and I was really happy to see good responses. I did my best for BIGBANG and BIGBANG did more than expected. Fans enjoyed BIGBANG’s music and performance with all their passion. Everything were in a perfect harmony, I guess”.

- I know it’s a sensitive question, but who will be the next YG artist to come back?

“That’s of course WINNER. The album has already been completed. I’m really sorry for WINNER’s fans, but I thought it was not good to release WINNER’s album in this end-of-year season. You know, there are a lot of music festivals, so it will not be easy for WINNER to draw enough attention. Plus, there was PSY’s album waiting for release, too. So, I thought this December was not a good timing. One thing I can promise is that fans will really love WINNER’s next album. Starting from WINNER, YG artists will come back one by one. Akdong Musician, LEE HI, Katie Kim, and others are doing their preparation now. I’ll keep doing my best for the year 2016, too”.

[2015 MAMA] “Quadruple crown for two years in a row”, BIGBANG never fails

On December 2, the 2015 Mnet Asia Music Awards(MAMA) was held at World Expo Arena in Hong Kong

In the awards, BIGBANG earned quadruple crown including the song of the year and the singer of the year awards. By receiving those two grand prizes, BIGBANG further consolidated their status as the best singer for the year 2015.

BIGBANG released single album “M”, “A”, “D”, and “E” for four months from May until August this year. They swept music charts with “BANG BANG BANG”, “LOSER”, “IF YOU”, and “SOBER”. BIGBANG also successfully rounded off their world tour, demonstrating their big influence both in and out of the country.

Therefore, BIGBANG’s awarding was predicted to some extent. Receiving those grand prizes, BIGBANG presented fascinating performances of “LOSER”, “BAE BAE”, and “BANG BANG BANG”. Such captivating performances turned MAMA into a BIGBANG concert.

The five guys of BIGBANG also earned the quadruple crown including the best song of the year and best artist of the year awards at 2015 Melon Music Awards held last month. They proved their enormous influence once again at MAMA.

An Additional Concert at Tokyo Dome! With this concert, BIGBANG will draw 856,000 People

[????=??? ??] It has been decided that BIGBANG will be holding an additional concert for their Japan Dome Tour.

They were to have two additional concerts in Fukuoka on February 6 and 7. Recently, it has been decided that they will also be holding an additional concert in Tokyo on February 23.

BIGBANG’s Japan Dome Tour titled “BIGBANG 2015 World Tour ~2016[MADE] IN JAPAN” kicked off with a concert at the Tokyo Dome on November 12.

BIGBANG is the first foreign artist to have dome tours for three years in a row. Starting off their third dome tour, BIGBANG held concerts in Tokyo, Osaka, and Fukuoka in November. They will be holding concerts at the Nagoya Dome on the upcoming December 5-6, at the Kyocera Dome in Osaka on January 9-11, and at the Fukuoka Yafuoku! Dome on February 6-7.

Originally, BIGBANG was to hold 16 concerts in four cities and draw 801,000 people. With the recently added concert in Tokyo, they will be performing 17 concerts before 856,000 people for their third Japan Dome Tour. The number of audience is bigger than that of BIGBANG’s last dome tour “BIGBANG JAPAN DOME TOUR 2013~2014”, which consisted of 16 concerts in six cities and drew 771,000 people.

In addition, for their Japanese fans, BIGBANG will release an album titled “MADE SERIES”, which is consisted of eleven tracks: the Japanese versions of “LOSER”, “BANG BANG BANG”, and “IF YOU” along with eight original versions of their “MADE” album singles. They have not released a Japanese version song for three years and eight months since “MONSTER” in June 2012.

Meanwhile, demonstrating that they are indeed the greatest singer of the year 2015, BIGBANG won four awards, including the Artist of the Year award and the Song of the Year award, at the 2015 Mnet Asian Music Awards held in Hong Kong on December 2.
