M vs A vs D vs E = BIGBANG, the Exclusive Party [MADE]

[OSEN=??? ??] BIGBANG is known for topping charts immediately after their comeback and staying that way for a long period of time. The MADE Project that kicked off in May has been going on for four consecutive months, practically doing the so-called “all-kill” on charts. They are known of being the most powerful boy band while also being loved by the general public. Apart from the tracks as BIGBANG as a whole, solo or unit songs by GD, TAEYANG and T.O.P easily top charts as well.

Expectations for their tracks are simply incredible, and their comeback becomes the hot news all over the world. Their popularity is borderless, and their MADE Project was more than enough to prove it. “LOSER”, “BANG BANG BANG” and “LET’S NOT FALL IN LOVE” even topped America’s World Digital Songs chart.

From May to August, it was indeed BIGBANG’s exclusive party. For the last four months, two tracks were unveiled every month, which basically topped all charts and music programs.

From May, it was “LOSER” and “BAE BAE” on Album M, “BANG BANG BANG” and “WE LIKE 2 PARTY” in Album A, “SOBER” and “IF YOU” on album D and “ZUTTER” and “LET’S NOT FALL IN LOVE” in Album E.

BIGBANG was actually in a battle against themselves. The two songs unveiled every month were the rivals, and in the following months, the two new songs started competing against the previous two. And the trend continued on for four months.

For four months in a row, BIGBANG practically swept across all charts and music programs. Many artists tried to avoid releasing their albums at the same time. Their equation of “comeback = #1” follows their name BIGBANG, but no one would have known that this can go on for four months.

“LOSER” was the one that won them the highest number of trophies. It won them the first trophy on MBC’s “Show! Music Center” on May 9, and up to 10 on SBS’s “Inkigayo” on May 24.

“BANG BANG BANG” in June took 4 trophies, including the one on Mnet’s M Countdown on June 11. It was similar in July, with 3 trophies for “SOBER” and again for “LET’S NOT FALL IN LOVE.” “ZUTTER” was a surprise #1 on Aug 20 on M Countdown.

They took a total of 23 trophies from May to August. They unveiled two tracks every month, and both songs topped charts. Their rivals changed every month, but their position stayed the same throughout.

Their biggest rival was themselves. Their challenge was to do more than what they have already done in the previous month. And now their final “full” album will be unveiled in September. 2015 is truly their year.

[Music Talk Talk] Which is more powerful, YG or Show Me the Money 4?

[OSEN=??? ??] Is it YG effect?

It seems that YG Entertainment is dominating the Korean pop music scene. BIGBANG’s songs have been high on music charts since May, and SONG MIN HO of WINNER, TABLO, and JINUSEAN, who all participated in the cable channel Mnet’s rapper survival program ‘Show Me the Money 4’, have joined in sweeping the charts.

As of 10 am on the 30th, on the chart of Korea’s biggest online music streaming website Melon, six songs sung or featured by YG artists, namely “MAPSOSA”, “GUP” (fear), “OPPACHA”, “OKEY DOKEY”, “THE TURTLE SHIP”, and “LET’S NOT FALL IN LOVE”, rank within the top 10.

“LET’S NOT FALL IN LOVE”, BIGBANG’s new song released in August, is still popular although new songs by other artists are being released, and “MAPSOSA” by GD and TAEYANG, a song from MBC’s show program Infinite Challenge’s Yongdong Highway Music Festival, took the second place on the chart. BIGBANG is continuing to sweep the music charts for four months in a row recording a long run since their MADE project in May.

Together with BIGBANG’s selling power, what grab attention is YG artists’ good result from ‘Show Me the Money 4’. Currently, on Melon’s real-time chart, four songs from ‘Show Me the Money 4’ rank high within the top 10. It is impressive that those four songs are all by YG artists, SONG MIN HO, TABLO, AND JINUSEAN. In particular, SONG MIN HO participated in three of the four songs, which proves how well he did in ‘Show Me the Money 4’.

“GUP” (fear), collaborated by SONG MIN HO and TAEYANG, outpaced the songs from Infinite Challenge music festival, and is recording a long run. Not only on Melon, the song is taking top places on major music charts like Mnet, Genie and Bugs.

“THE TURTLE SHIP”, which SONG MIN HO participated in for a mission in ‘Show Me the Money 4’, is also gaining great popularity. “OKEY DOKEY”, showcased together with producer Zico, took top places on charts. In the end, SONG MIN HO was the champion on music charts although he won the second place in ‘Show Me the Money 4’.

Along with SONG MIN HO’s good performance on charts, TABLO and JINUSEAN, who were producers in ‘Show Me the Money 4’, also grabs attention. Their song “OPPACHA” went up high on the charts, and is now ready to long run. It also took the top slot on two weekly charts at Gaon, proving its popularity. Indeed, the real winner of ‘Show Me the Money 4’ is YG artists.

That seems to have been possible because of the synergistic effect created by YG Entertainment, a talented music artists group, and a largely popular show ‘Show Me the Money 4’. ‘Show Me the Money’ series are thought to have helped hip-hop music become generally popular. That was possible because talented musicians like JINUSEAN, TABLO, and SONG MIN HO participated in the show. Even if the program were already popular, but had it not been for the good songs and for talented musicians in the show, it would have been difficult for the show to become widely popular. In other words, it was the good songs by talented musicians in ‘Show Me the Money 4’ that attracted interest in the show, and that interest seems to have led to the show’s great popularity among wider listeners and viewers. It is the best ever collaboration by YG and ‘Show Me the Money 4’.

Man Arrested for Fraudulent Sales of EXO and BIGBANG Concert Tickets

Man Arrested for Fraudulent Sales of EXO and BIGBANG Concert Tickets

Seoul Police arrested a 21-year-old man Kim (first name withheld) for fraud.

Kim posted on internet second-hand trading websites from the period of February 2013 to August 2015, pretending to have concert tickets for EXO and BIGBANG, although he did not actually have any. After having seen his posts, 838 people, mostly in their teens, contacted him to buy the tickets and sent him amounts ranging from 200,000 to 500,000 won (about 170-424 USD), later receiving a confirmation number. They were told that having the confirmation number will enable them to pick up the tickets. Many are said to have paid more than twice the original price of the tickets.

In total, Kim received about 208 million won (about 176,000 USD). The confirmation numbers Kim distributed turned out to be numbers taken from other posts by people who sold actual tickets, and did not work when the victims tried to pick up their tickets at the concert.

In order to stay under the radar, Kim changed his cell phone number multiple times and opened at least seven bank accounts to receive payments. When the victims complained, he said, “Refunds are impossible if you report this to the police,” and tricked others into depositing money into the accounts of complaining victims.

Kim allegedly used most of the money in sports betting and other gambling activities.

YG Entertainment responds to the rumors of G-Dragon and Kiko breaking up

As fans know, rumors have been buzzing for a while that G-Dragon and his alleged girlfriend, Mizuhara Kiko, broke up. It all started with Kiko’s Instagram post that declared that she was “single”, and now it has escalated with Dispatch doing a bit of digging.

According to the media outlet, the two decided to part ways but remain friends. One source close to the couple apparently said, “The two are the type to put all their focus on their work. So with G-Dragon pouring most of his time into album preparations, the two drifted apart… Especially with BIGBANG going on world tour, their time together decreased even more.”

The source also emphasized that the two will most likely not get back together. “They had repeatedly broken up and got back together again in the past. But this time, they have decided not to use up any more of their emotions. They will not be getting back together.”

It’s kind of an awkward situation to ask an agency to confirm a breakup news for a relationship that was never publicly acknowledged, but media outlets asked anyways! And the response? “We never officially offered a response to the dating rumors between G-Dragon and Kiko. So regarding their breakup, we also have no comment,” a rep stated on behalf of YG Entertainment. That sass!

[Analysis IS] The reason why YG is really formidable

[?????=??? ??] In the evening of August 13, the “2015 The Infinite Challenge Yeongdong Expressway Music Festival” was held at the ski-jumping tower of Alpensia Resort in Daegwallyeong-myeon, PyeongChang-gun, Gangwon Province.

Even though everyone expected it, the big influence of “The Infinite Challenge”‘s music festival is always surprising. The songs of the music festival are hitting music charts hard.

The songs of MBC’s “2015 Infinite Challenge Yeongdong Expressway Music Festival” released on the 22 are taking top places on charts for five days in a row. On the real-time chart of Korea’s biggest music-streaming website Melon, IU and Park Myung Soo’s “Leon” is in the No.1 place.

Kwanghee-TAEYANG-GDRAGON’s “Oh My God”, Haha-Zion.T’s “Sponsor”, Jung HyungDon-Hyuk Oh’s “Beautiful Barn”, Yoo Jae Suk-Park Jin Young’s “I’m So Sexy”, and Jung Joon Ha-Yoon Sang’s “My Life” are closely following “Leon”. Music fans are now focusing on how long these songs will stay in top places on charts, rather than on what ranking they take.

The interesting thing here is the fact that all the top ten songs on the chart except for the songs of the music festival are YG songs. For Hwangtaeji’s “Oh My God” which is in the second place, BIGBANG’s G-DRAGON and TAEYANG worked with Kwanghee, and the sixth place on the chart is taken by “GUP” (Fear) sung by SONG MIN HO and featured by TAEYANG. “Oppacha” in the eighth place is a song collaborated by YG’s JINUSEAN and TABLO, while BIGBANG’s “LET’S NOT FALL IN LOVE” in the tenth place is recording a long run.  In this week avoided by all the other music labels because of the attack from the songs of “The Infinite Challenge”, YG songs are sweeping the chart.

The reason why YG songs are showing formidable power on music charts which is mainly dominated by songs aired in TV shows such as “The Infinite Challenge” and “Show Me the Money 4? is because YG artists took part in those TV shows. YG artists mainly focus on their music, but every “hot” TV show has an YG artist. G-DRAGON also said that he regards himself as a member of the music festival of “The Infinite Challenge”.

YG seems to go its own way, but it knows how to follow and make use of the trend when necessary. That is the reason why YG, one of the three major music labels in Korea, is really formidable.
