On June 12 at 12:30 a.m. KST, iChart updated to reveal that G-Dragon’s new song has taken the top spot on all six major Korean daily and realtime charts, as well as on iChart’s realtime and weekly charts. This is what is referred to as a perfect all-kill!

G-Dragon’s new song previously achieved its first “certified all-kill” on June 9. A perfect all-kill differs from a certified all-kill because it includes a No. 1 on the weekly iChart.

G-DRAGON’s “UNTITLED” Tops All the Charts and Its MV Posted 10 Million Views, Breaking New Records

[헤럴드POP=박수정 기자] The music video of G-DRAGON’s “UNTITLED” surpassed 10 million views in just two days after its release, demonstrating its enormous popularity.

As of 3 PM on June 11, “UNTITLED” music video posted 10,017,256 views on YouTube.

The music video was shot against a simple background, enabling G-DRAGON’s emotional acting, sad melody and lyrics to really stand out. The original plan was to film the music video in several sets, but G-DRAGON’s acting was so good that the music video was filmed in just a single take.

No one expected that rapper G-DRAGON would choose a slow song without any rapping as the title track of his new album. However, “UNTITLED” has taken the No.1 spot on all the major charts in Korea for four days after its release. G-DRAGON’s new album also topped the iTunes chart in 39 countries, demonstrating his global popularity.

G-DRAGON successfully kicked off his solo world tour “ACT III, M.O.T.T.E” at the Seoul Sangam World Cup Stadium on June 10. He is to continue on with his tour with concerts in Macao on June 17 and 18.

Audience Goes Wild about the Duet between G-DRAGON and 30-year Old KWON JI YONG

[연합뉴스=이은정 기자 ] BIGBANG’s G-DRAGON (KWON JI YONG) alone was enough to fill the stage.

He filled the dozen-meter long stage wearing unique costumes, and the Seoul World Cup Stadium was filled with people from the ground to its third floor.

Even foreigner fans were spotted at the concert, and the audience sang the songs together with G-DRAGON. The stadium was filled with yellow light sticks waving to his every word and gestures. The tickets cost 110,000 won per seat, and the total ticket sale amounted to 440 billion won.

This is nothing new to G-DRAGON, who has grown to become a global star and the celebrity of the celebrities during the past ten years.

G-DRAGON kicked off his “ACT Ⅲ, M.O.T.T.E” tour at the Seoul World Cup Stadium at 8 PM on June 10.

The concert was special in that G-DRAGON showed the KWON JI YONG side of himself on the stage as implied in his recently released solo album “KWON JI YONG”.

The costumes, and stage lighting, the main color of the videos were all red to make everything look simple, and the performances were arranged in the order of G-DRAGON’s solo albums released so far.

He sang “HEARTBREAKER” for the opening stage and introduced himself by saying, “I’m KWON JI YONG”.

He went on to say, “I’ve been through a lot, both mentally and physically, while preparing for this album, and it was hard. I’ve been living my life as G-DRAGON, and I forgot who I really was” and kept on singing his hit songs.

He rapped hard when he was performing “CRAYON” and sang to the sentimental melody of “THAT XX” sitting on the stairs.

He sang “THE LEADERS” together with CL, and “Palette” and “MISSING YOU” with IU, who came as a guest.

G-DRAGON said, “IU sent me a fridge as a present a short while ago, and it was filled with soju wrapped around with paper bands with my face on them.” IU said, “You have to drink hard if you want to finish them before you join the military.”

Something unexpected happened during the “OBESSESION” performance.

A female fan holding a yellow light stick jumped on the stage and tried to hug G-DRAGON. He didn’t panic and continued on with his performance. The staff led the fan down the stage.

It was as if watching G-DRAGON and KWON JI YONG doing a duet. Although excitement was building up, the theme of the concert—“the thirty-year old KWON JI YONG”—was clearly expressed during the concert.

A video was played featuring his fellow singers; such as PSY, SE7EN, CL, and DARA; his parents and sister; staff members; and his manager talking about who G-DRAGON is or who KWON JI YONG is.

G-DRAGON’s dad said, “He never says no. He always says yes. He’s the best son to me.”

In the second half of the concert, G-DRAGON sang “BULLSHIT”, a new song in his new album, and said, “The aim of this concert was to show the less made-up me. G-DRAGON is also me, but it is an exaggerated and glamorous image of a singer. The goal is to show KWON JI YONG in a more natural state as the concert goes on.”

He went on to say, “This was my dream since I was a kid. I didn’t rest, and now I feel like I’m living a dream. It feels good, but sometimes I feel weird and the line between dream and reality becomes blurry. That’s why I try hard to get back to my original state of mind when I first started music. I don’t know what you like about me, but I hope you like the humble KWON JI YONG as well as the glamorous G-DRAGON.”

He asked the audience “I’m joining the military next year. I’ll be 32 or 33 by the time I’m done. Will you be okay with that?” and the audience replied, “Yes!”

The last song of the concert was the title track of his new album “UNTITLED”. It’s not his usual powerful hip hop song but a slow ballad, and it was a perfect finale to his concert.

G-DRAGON sang a total of 24 songs. He will hold concerts in three Asian cities, eight North American cities, four Oceania cities, and three Japanese cities during his tour.

G-DRAGON Dominated the Charts for Four Days in a Row and is Expected to do so for Some Time Now

[헤럴드POP=박수정 기자] G-DRAGON has topped all the charts in Korea and is expected to do continue doing so for some time.

As of 9 AM on June 11, the title track of G-DRAGON’s new album “UNTITLED” was No.1 on the charts of Melon, Genie, Naver, Bugs, Mnet, Soribada, Olleh, and Monkey3. Other songs in his album such as “BULLSHIT” and “SUPER STAR” are also ranking high on the charts. The music video of “UNTITLED” posted 9,609,970 views on YouTube and is about to pass the 10 million mark in just two days after its release.

Such results are remarkable considering that “UNTITLED” consists of G-DRAGON’s singing and not his rapping. G-DRAGON also successfully kicked off his solo world tour “ACT III, M.O.T.T.E”.

The first concert of the tour was held at the Sangam World Cup Stadium on June 10, and 40,000 fans came to see G-DRAGON. The main color of his concert was red, and therefore, the opening stage and G-DRAGON’s costumes were all red, instantly grabbing the attention of the audience.

G-DRAGON performed a total of 24 songs including the songs in his previous albums such as “HREAT BREAKER”, “BREATHE”, “MICHIGO”, “CRAYON” and the songs in his new album such as “BULLSHIT”, “DIVINA COMMEDIA”, and “UNTITLED”. The audience sang along with G-DRAGON all throughout the two-hour concert.

CL and IU appeared as surprise guests and performed with G-DRAGON. There were a number of performances that were put on stage for the first time ever: the songs in his new album and his collaboration song with IU “Palette” were never performed before, and it left a deep impression on the audience.

G-DRAGON kicked off his world tour successfully with this Seoul concert. He will continue on his tour by holding concerts in Macao on June 17 and 18.

G-Dragon Shows His True Self, “I Hope You Will Stay by Me No Matter Who I Am” (Concert Recap)

At the heart of BIGBANG’s G-Dragon lies Kwon Jiyong.

G-Dragon kicked off his “Act III, M.O.T.T.E” tour at the Sangam World Cup Stadium around 8pm on June 10 and met 40,000 fans.

He showed his unique smile and said, “Hi, I’m Kwon Jiyong”. He then mentioned how his new album that was released on June 8 topped the charts. He said, “I’d been through a lot both mentally and physically while preparing for this album, but it felt good to hear such good news.”

He went on to say, “This concert might have not happened at all” indirectly referring to T.O.P’s marijuana charges. G-Dragon thanked the audience by saying, “It’s because of you I was able to hold this concert.” He also showed off his confidence by saying, “I’m so good at it, aren’t I?”

G-Dragon wore red costumes all throughout the concert to convey the concept of his “M.O.T.T.E” tour. “M.O.T.T.E” stands for “moment of truth the end”. It shows how G-Dragon wants to share the truth behind himself as the successful and glamorous G-Dragon and himself as the ordinary Kwon Jiyong.

On stage, G-Dragon showed off explosive charisma as powerful as the color red, the key color of the stage settings. Off stage, G-Dragon is a good son, a faithful friend, and a cute little brother to his parents, Taeyang, comedian Jung Hyung Don, and close friends and staff members, who sent video messages.

G-Dragon performed a total of 24 songs. He first sang “Heartbreaker”, and then moved on to “A Boy” and “One of a Kind”. Afterwards, he sang “The Leaders” with CL. IU appeared on stage as a guest and sang “Palette” along with G-Dragon. He said, “IU gave me a fridge filled with soju as a present. She told me to drink them all before joining the military.” Then, he sang the songs in his new album “Super Star” and “Bullshit” for the first time ever.

Talking about when he was making the album, G-Dragon said, “It was a time to search who I really am, who Kwon Jiyong is. The aim of this tour is to show myself in my most natural state. I tried to make the stage as simple as possible. The order of the performances starts with the songs in my first album, and at the end, I tried to show the least made-up Kwon Jiyong.”

When the concert was nearing to its end, G-Dragon talked candidly about what he felt. He said,”This has been my dream ever since I was a boy. I didn’t stop for one second. I feel good as if I’m living in a dream, but sometimes, I can’t tell whether this is a dream or reality. I’m trying really hard to find the passion I had when I first started. I hope you will stay by me no matter who I am—the humble Kwon Jiyong or the glamorous G-Dragon.”

G-Dragon also talked about his mandatory military service. He said, “I’m joining the military next year. I don’t know what will happen. This may well be the last. After I’m done doing the military service, I’ll be 32 or 33. Will you be fine with that? I won’t be. I don’t think I’ll be able to have my fingers painted like this then.”

G-Dragon then sang “This Love”, “Crooked”, and “Untitled” and made the most of his time with his 40,000 fans.

The “M.O.T.T.E” tour is G-Dragon’s third solo tour after his “Shine A Light” tour in 2009 and “One of a Kind” tour in 2013.

After his concert in Seoul, G-Dragon will hold concerts in 19 cities around the world: Macau, Singapore, Bangkok, Seattle, San Hose, LA, Houston, Chicago, Miami, New York, Toronto, Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Oakland, Fukuoka, Osaka, and Tokyo. He plans to add more cities to his tour.

G-Dragon Talks About Sweeping Charts And His Impending Military Enlistment At Solo Concert

G-Dragon successfully opened his world tour “ACT III, M.O.T.T.E” with a concert in Seoul on June 10. Approximately 40,000 fans showed up for the concert.

G-Dragon started off saying, “Hello everyone this is Kwon Ji Yong. My album came out a few days ago, and I heard it’s No. 1 on various sites. The truth is that many things have happened while I was preparing for this album, so I was mentally and physically exhausted. It was nice to hear such good news. It’s thanks to all of you that I’m able to have a concert again, so I want to thank you once again.”

He also said, “You are watching my first concert as human being Kwon Ji Yong. It could be my first and last. Because I’ve been known to the public as G-Dragon for a long time, I became curious about my real self, Kwon Ji Yong. The point of this concert is to show a side to myself that is much less flashy than my usual self. G-Dragon is a part of me, but I think he’s a singer with a very flamboyant and exaggerated image. The time I spent preparing for this album was a valuable opportunity for me to find out things about myself that I hadn’t known or had forgotten about.”

G-Dragon also mentioned his military enlistment, saying, “I’m enlisting in the army next year, and I’ll be thirty-two or thirty-three once I return. Is that alright?” and fans replied with a reassuring cheer. But G-Dragon joked, “I don’t think I’ll be alright. At that age, I don’t think I’ll be able to paint my nails anymore,” making everyone laugh.

The concert was made even better with guest appearances by CL, who performed “The Leaders,” and IU, who sang her own song “Palette” and G-Dragon’s “Missing You.

Meanwhile, this is G-Dragon’s third solo concert after “Shine a Light” in 2009 and “One of a Kind” in 2013. “ACT III, M.O.T.T.E” will be held in three cities in Asia, eight cities in North America, four cities in Oceania, and will include a dome tour in three cities in Japan. More cities will be announced in the future.

G-Dragon: Preparing for new album was mentally, physically demanding

SEOUL, June 10 (Yonhap) — G-Dragon, the leader of the popular boy band BIGBANG, hit an unexpected snag when he returned as a soloist after four years: his band mate T.O.P’s recent drug scandal.

“It was mentally and physically hard to prepare for the album because many things happened in the process,” the singer said during his individual concert at Seoul World Cup Stadium in western Seoul on Saturday, the first leg of his concert tour of 19 cities around the world.

G-Dragon, however, did not directly mention the drug scandal involving T.O.P.

T.O.P was hospitalized Tuesday from an apparent overdose of benzodiazepine, a day after he was indicted without detention on charges of smoking marijuana. He is suspected of smoking the banned substance four times with a 21-year-old female trainee singer at his home in Seoul in October last year.

“Kwon Ji Yong,” the fourth solo album by G-Dragon, conquered iTunes album charts in 39 countries upon its release on Thursday, despite the scandal. Its title track “Untitled” also swept the number one spots on major domestic online music charts and all five category charts on China’s QQ Music.

“I felt great upon hearing the good news,” the 29-year-old rapper-singer said after performing three of his hit songs “Heartbreaker,” “Breathe” and “A Boy” on stage.

“I came to open this concert without any troubles thanks to you. So, I thank you once again.”

Kwon Ji-yong is G-Dragon’s real name. As the title suggests, the album has a strong autobiographical aspect to it, with lyrics focused on G-Dragon’s personal character and growing pains as he is about to enter his 30s.

“Personally, it was a time to look back on me pondering over what is the true nature of myself and who this guy Kwon Ji-yong really is after many years of life under the stage name G-Dragon. It was a precious time that I realized what I did not know of myself and what I had forgotten.”

After Seoul, G-Dragon is scheduled to perform in three Asian, eight North American, four Oceanian and three Japanese cities in the world tour titled “Act III, M.O.T.T.E.”
