[OSEN=최나영 기자] Group BIGBANG’s G-DRAGON is coming back as a solo artist for the first time in four years.

G-DRAGON has confirmed the schedule for his comeback on June 8.

On May 31, YG Entertainment announced G-DRAGON’s new album release on June 8 at 6PM by releasing a teaser image on the company’s official blog (www.yg-life.com).

Before the official announcement, YG’s head producer YANG HYUN SUK said G-DRAGON’s comeback was “quite imminent”, posting a photo of G-DRAGON working on the mixing for his new album on his social media account. As suggested by YANG, the schedule of G-DRAGON’s comeback has now been confirmed, within one day of the release of the photo.

The teaser image shows a fascinating portrait of G-DRAGON and artwork. G-DRAGON’s real name “Gwon Jiyong” is hand-written on it.

Since his debut as BIGBANG in 2006, G-DRAGON has always presented shocking and bold music and style, so music fans expect that he will come back with an unpredictable music and style this time as well.

With his first solo album “HEARTBREAK” released in 2009 and then “ONE OF A KIND” released in 2012 and “COUP D’ETAT” in 2013, G-DRAGON has always presented a unique style of his own, which was different from the BIGBANG style. Therefore, G-DRAGON’s first new solo album in four years to be released in this June is drawing greater attention than ever before.

Notably, G-DRAGON recently unveiled a bold make-up and hair-style on his social media account, presenting a whole new G-DRAGON like never before. The photo drew keen attention on-line.

During this year, G-DRAGON will display his unique identity to music fans around the world by releasing the new album and hosting world tour “ACT III, M.O.T.T.E”. The tour will be kicked off on June 10 at Sang-am World Cup Staidum in Seoul and then continue in three cities in Asia (Macao, Singapore, and Bangkok), eight cities in North America (Seattle, San Jose, Los Angeles, Houston, Chicago, Miami, New York, and Toronto), four cities in Oceania (Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Oakland), and three cities in Japan (Fukuoka, Osaka, and Tokyo). The tour is held in total 19 cities around the world and more cities will be added in the list.

YG Entertainment announced that G-DRAGON’s new album will be released online at 6 PM on June 8. The agency posted a teaser featuring an artwork piece of G-DRAGON’s face on its official blog.

BIGBANG members actually mentioned something interesting at the “BIGBANG SPECIAL EVENT 2017”, which was held last 30^th at the Tokyo Dome in Japan. BIGBANG members said that this album will be G-DRAGON’s saddest album yet, and the audience posted this on their SNS pages.

If this is true, expectations are bound to run high. So far, G-DRAGON has only been released powerful songs as a solo artist such as “HEARTBREAKER”, “CRAYON”, and “CROOKED”. This also means that G-DRAGON will be making a change in his music as a solo artist with this album.

YG Entertainment officially announced, “Since BIGBANG’s debut in 2006, G-DRAGON has always shown something new. And now, he will be making a comeback as a solo artist with something totally unexpected.” This announcement proves that the rumor is probably not just a rumor.

Everyone knows that G-DRAGON is a genius at writing and producing songs. He has made mostly upbeat songs but also produced slow beat and sentimental hit songs such as “BLUE”, “THAT XX”, “MONSTER”, “LET’S NOT FALL IN LOVE”.

Now, he is fully ready to release a sad solo album. G-DRAGON will make the most of his solo album to deliver his sad and emotional side to the public.

G-DRAGON’s first solo album in four years marks the beginning of a new G-DRAGON. The public is ready to listen to his songs as they have been for the past ten years. The upcoming June is certainly worth waiting for.

[OSEN=이소담 기자] Korea’s music scene in the first half of 2017 was dominated by YG artists. The first was WINNER, and then, SECHSKIES, PSY, iKON made a comeback. Now, BIGBANG’s G-DRAGON is to come back with a solo album.

In April, WINNER and SECSKIES released albums. WINNER released their new album titled “FATE NUMBER FOR” after a 14-month break, and the title song “REALLY REALLY” has been high up on the charts for nine weeks now. YG’s newcomer SECHSKIES released an album to celebrate the 20^th anniversary of their debut, and for the first time in 17 years, the group became No.1 on both the online and offline charts.

In May, it was PSY and iKON. PSY released his 8^th album “4X2=8”, which took the charts by storm upon release. iKON released “NEW KIDS : BEGIN” on May 22, and the title songs of the album “BLING BLING” and “B-DAY” are going viral on YouTube and around the world.

Now, it has been officially announced that G-DRAGON will be making a comeback as a solo artist on June 8. It will be his first solo album in four years, after his “COUP D’ETAT” album that contains “CROOKED” in 2013. G-DRAGON has shown diverse charms whether as a member of the group BIGBANG or in unit groups such as GD&T.O.P or GD&TAEYANG. However, fans have had special expectations for his solo albums as they show his unique color as an artist. The powerful teasers of G-DRAGON’s solo album are definitely raising the expectations to the maximum.

G-DRAGON will also be holding solo concerts. He will go on a tour under the title of “G-DRAGON 2017 CONCERT: ACT III, M.O.T.T.E”, and the first concert will be held in June 10 in Seoul. Then, he will hold 23 concerts in 19 cities around the world including cities in North America, Asia, Oceania, and Japan. His concerts will be the epitome of a concert that can be put on by a contemporary solo male musician. All of his concerts will be above arena-level, with some of them even in stadiums and domes.  G-DRAGON is turning 30 this year, which means the beginning of the third stage of his life. He will surely dominate the music scene in the first half of 2017.
