Watch: BIGBANG’s Seungri Gives a Shout Out to All the Maknaes Out There at 5th Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards

BIGBANG member Seungri gave a hilarious speech at February 17’s 5th Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards!

When BIGBANG goes on stage to accept their Artist of the Year (Song – June) award for “Bang Bang Bang,” Seungri takes the chance to jokingly get some things off his chest.

He first thanks the fans, and then adds that he’s also grateful to himself. “It’s been a long time since I’ve thanked myself, I think the last time was five years ago when I was a bit arrogant and out of my mind. In remembrance of that time, I’d like to thank myself,” he jokes. Seungri previously thanked himself when he won first place as a solo artist on “Inkigayo” back in 2009.

“This demanding society and these demanding activities as a group with BIGBANG are really difficult!” he yells, while G-Dragon covers his face as he laughs and Daesung grins.

“There are some junior groups here,” Seungri continues. “All the maknaes, raise your hands! It’s hard, right? I understand!”

The video then cuts to BTS’s Jungkook eagerly raising his hand in the air, and VIXX’s Hyuk shyly holding up his own.

Host Leeteuk of Super Junior then says to Seungri, “Your members look a bit embarrassed!”

Seungri says, “Anyway! I’m very grateful to G-Dragon for always writing us cool songs, and to T.O.P for always raising me toughly. I want to take this chance to say that I love you. Also, thank you to Taeyang who tells me to practise singing. I will work hard so that I can be a better singer. And to Daesung for always smiling. You really give me strength!”

Daesung takes issue with this, and Taeyang encourages him to express his feelings into the mic. Daesung says to Seungri, “You’re just thanking me for smiling? There’s nothing else?”

“You really give me strength with your smiling face,” replies Seungri confidently, and Daesung pretends to sulk as he walks away.

G-DRAGON, the fashionista under global spotlight… “Overwhelming looks”

[??????=??? ??] Photographs of BIGBANG’s G-DRAGON attending Chanel’s 2014 S/S haute-couture collection have been unveiled.

G-DRAGON attended Chanel’s haute-couture collection held at Grand Palais on the 26 last month, representing Korea. Even though there were a big group of world-famous actors and actresses at the show, G-DRAGON received the most enthusiastic acclamations and camera flashes when he stood before the photo wall and entered the show room.

G-DRAGON boasted “couture”-class sense of fashion and appeals in the global fashion scene, by showing off a great style in over-sized fur hat that covers more than half of his face, striped T-shirt with suit, and a brooch on the jacket.

After the show, G-DRAGON met Karl Lagerfeld to take a photo together and talk about how the show was. Then, G-DRAGON met his close friend and world’s top model SOO JOO to take a selfie. As such, G-DRAGON enjoyed high fashion in his own way and style.

More photos and undisclosed videos of G-DRAGON who captivated the fashion scene and social media once again by attending the Chanel collection will be released in the March issue of “Elle” magazine and the magazine’s official website.

G-Dragon and M.I.A. rap on a track debuted at Alexander Wang

New York DJ Baauer enlisted the two rappers for ‘Temples’, which soundtracked Wang at NYFW

dazeddigital.com_1162219.jpg

With #WANGSQUAD out in full force this weekend, Alexander Wang used his AW16 runway to debut “Temples”, a new track from Philly DJ Baauer which features alternate verses from two of our favourite rappers of all time: G-Dragon and M.I.A.

Baauer’s latest offering is playful and exploding with energy, featuring back-and-forth verses from the two rappers spread over some heavyweight 808 bass. “Step into my temple and you see me on my throne, gold on the dome, don’t drop that drone,” spits M.I.A., before G-Dragon dives in with some punchy verses of his own, rapping: “Everybody heard about me, everybody know, faster than a hunter with an arrow to the bow.”

While this is only the second time that K-Pop megastar G-Dragon has been used to soundtrack a show, his lyrical presence at New York Fashion Week should come as no surprise. With a wardrobe full of off-the-runway pieces from Givenchy, Saint Laurent, Rick Owens andBalmain alongside avant-streetwear from Hood By Air, KTZ and Ambush, his fashion credentialsare all part of his crossover appeal and prolific popularity.

Alexander Wang premiered this new M.I.A, G-DRAGON track at his AW16 Show

Alexander Wang is making K-pop his thing. After already casting badass Korean rapper CL in his SS16 #WANGSQUAD last week, the designer then premiered the track “Temple” featuring Korean mega-star G-Dragon alongside M.I.A and American producer (and fellow #WANGSQUAD member) Baauer at his AW16 show in New York last night. With Baauer providing the stuttering backing track, M.I.A and G-Dragon alternately deliver the verses to provide one of the best K-pop crossovers out there.

G-Dragon has been a major feature of the fashion scene in recent seasons, though this is the first time his work has soundtrack-ed a show. The artist, who in addition to his solo exploits, fronts the majorly successful boy band BIGBANG, has been a front row fixture at Saint-Laurent, Lanvin, Rick Owens, Hood by Air and Chanel for some time as brands look to harness his major selling power. He now becomes Wang’s latest musical muse, joining the likes of A$AP Rocky, Grimes and Die Antwoord, all of whom have inspired the designer in the past.

m.i.a and g-dragon rap on new baauer track temple

Having dropped the controversial video for Borders a month ago, M.I.A is back with fresh verses on Baauer's new track Temples. Not as explicitly political as Borders, which references the refugee crisis, there is still a topical, anti-war message in the Temples lyrics: "Step into my temple and you see me on my throne / Gold on the dome, don't drop that drone".

South Korean rapper G-Dragon, who is a regular on the Chanel front row, also features on Temples, which will appear on Baauer's debut album, Aa, scheduled to drop 18 March. The American producer has worked with a number of other collaborators on the album, including Novelist, Future, Rustie and Pusha T.

Baauer was recently unveiled as part of Alexander Wang's #WANGSQUAD alongside fellow musicians Travis Scott, Alice Glass, Aluna Francis of AlunaGeorge and CL, and models Binx Walton, Anna Ewers, Molly Bair, Issa Lish and more. The #WANGSQUAD campaign is set to drop around the same time as the album, mid-March.

Jeff Bernat Believes G-Dragon Could Succeed in the American Market

Jeff Bernat Believes G-Dragon Could Succeed in the American Market

Jeff Bernat held a concert for two days in Seoul this weekend and sat down with Star News for an interview.

During the interview, he was asked about which Korean artists he thinks would have the best chance at succeeding in the U.S. market. He responded, “Among the Korean artists I know, there are three people that I think who could succeed. One is BIGBANG‘s G-Dragon, who is already very popular.” “G-Dragon is unique. He is different than anyone in the world. He is like Korea’s Pharrell Williams,” Jeff Bernat said.

He continued, “Another artist would be 2NE1‘s CL. She is already popular in the U.S. and known in the world. The last person would be Dean. Dean is always making new music and music that predicts trends. I think that these three artists can succeed big in the American market.”

What do you think? Would G-Dragon be able to go mainstream in America?

BIGBANG’s T.O.P Denies Reports of Drama Casting With Gong Seung Yeon

BIGBANG’s T.O.P Denies Reports of Drama Casting With Gong Seung Yeon

In contrast to initial reports that actress Gong Seung Yeon and BIGBANG‘s T.O.P have been cast together as leads in a KBS drama, T.O.P’s side is denying that he accepted the offer. The production company of the drama also stated that it is untrue that anything has been decided.

In particular, YG Entertainment pointed out that T.O.P is currently busy with BIGBANG’s world tour.

The drama at the center of the story is “God of Noodles” (working title), which is based on a manhwa by Park in Kwon  and is about a man who hones his god-given noodle-making skills for revenge.

While the drama is slated to premiere in April after “The Merchant: Gaekju 2015,” there has been no decision made for its leads as of yet.
