BIGBANG’s G-Dragon Promises to Appear at Next “Infinity Challenge” Music Festival Too

BIGBANG’s G-Dragon Promises to Appear at Next “Infinity Challenge” Music Festival Too

At the “Infinity Challenge” music festival on August 13 in Pyeongchang, BIGBANG‘s G-Dragon and Taeyang performed with cast member Kwanghee and had a chance to talk about their future music festival plans.

“Infinity Challenge” has staged these special music festivals once every two years since 2007. It recruits musicians from a variety of genres and pairs each of them up with a cast member to create a song together and then perform it at a live concert. This was G-Dragon’s third “Infinity Challenge” music festival, as he previously performed at the 2011 festival with cast member Park Myung Soo and at the 2013 festival with Jung Hyung Don.

During the chat portion of this year’s concert, it’s reported that Yoo Jae Suk asks Taeyang, “If you ended up performing at the next music festival, would you be in a team with Kwanghee then too?”

Taeyang hesitates and seems to find it hard to reply, so Yoo Jae Suk turns to G-Dragon and asks the same question.

G-Dragon replies confidently, “I’ll be performing at the next one too,” which makes the crowd go wild. “Since I’ve done it with Kwanghee once now, it would be good to do it with someone else but…” He then turns to Kwanghee and jokes, “Do you want to [perform together]?”

This year’s “Infinity Challenge” music festival is expected to air on August 22.

Who do you want to see G-Dragon perform with at the “Infinity Challenge” 2017 music festival?

Fans Camp Out in Line for Up to Two Days for “Infinity Challenge” Music Festival

Fans Camp Out in Line for Up to Two Days for “Infinity Challenge” Music Festival

The much-anticipated 2015 “Infinity Challenge” music festival will be taking place on August 13, but fans have been camped out outside the venue since August 11!

This year’s music festival has an impressive lineup that includes musicians BIGBANG‘s G-Dragon and Taeyang, Hyukoh, IU, Park Jin Young, Yoon Sang, and Zion.T. Each musician has been teamed up with a member of the “Infinity Challenge” cast, and viewers have watched each team prepare their song for the festival over the past several weeks.

The festival is set to take place in the evening on August 13 at a ski jumping arena in Pyeongchang, a county on the east side of South Korea that will hold the 2018 Winter Olympics. A member of the production staff says that they chose the location because fans have been requesting that the show come to an area outside of Seoul and Gyeonggi province.

There are no reserved seats at the venue, so people will be grabbing spots by order of arrival. A representative from “Infinity Challenge” says that at maximum they will be admitting 30,000 people into the venue to watch the show, and that there are both standing and sitting sections.

It’s reported that fans have been holding spots in line for the concert since August 11, which means they had two nights of camping out ahead of them when they arrived.

According to some posts, there were about thirty groups of people who grabbed the first spots, but by 2 p.m. on August 12 there were already around 200 people. Lots of people seem to have brought umbrellas to try to protect themselves from the sun, while others went so far as to set up tents. By now, there are many more fans that have joined the line despite the hot weather and the forecast of rain.

The photo above was posted to an online community with the caption “There are 30 people in front of me.”

The “Infinity Challenge” staff are requesting that people wait to watch the show on TV when it airs on August 22 instead of trying to watch it in person, in order to avoid the stifling humidity and traffic. They’ve also encouraged those who want to come to the show to arrive just before it begins because they assure fans that all the seats in the venue will provide a great view.

Would you line up for two days to “Infinity Challenge” music festival in person?

[Billboard] BIGBANG Tie PSY for Most No. 1s on World Digital Songs Chart

bigbang_kpop2015c_650.png
PSY  may currently be the most famous K-pop star in America, but BIGBANG are giving him a run for his money on Billboard's World Digital Songs chart. Upon the release of their latest double A-side single "Let's Not Fall in Love" and "Zutter," the BIGBANG boys once again occupy the top two slots on World Digital Songs.

This means BIGBANG has three No. 1s on the ranking, the same amount as PSY. With a trio of chart-toppers on World Digital Songs, BIGBANG ties PSY for the most leaders in the chart's five-year history. They are the only acts with multiple chart-toppers on this list, which started in January of 2010. Both are signed to YG Entertainment, the South Korean record label that also houses 2NE1, Epik High, Winner and more. To date the only K-pop acts to hit No. 1 on the chart are under YG.

"Let's Not Fall in Love" tops the tally with 7,000 in sales while "Zutter" (a collaboration between BIGBANG members G-Dragon and T.O.P., credited to GD & T.O.P.) is in the runner-up slot with 6,000 copies sold. Remarkably, they shifted such numbers with less than two days of sales after Billboard's tracking weekshifted from Friday to Thursday with the global release date change.

"Let's Not Fall in Love" follows BIGBANG's earlier singles from this year: "Loser" (which hit No. 1 on the chart dated May 16, 2015) and "Bang Bang Bang" (it ruled on June 20). All three were released on two-song EPs that the act has been releasing at the top of each month since May. To date, every song on the project has charted within the Top 3 of World Digital Songs.

The four EPs preview BIGBANG's upcoming full-length album Made, that drops at the top of September. It's BIGBANG's first LP since 2012's Alive, which hit No. 150 on the Billboard 200 and was one of the first K-pop albums to bow on the ranking. Made is anticipated to make a huge splash on the charts upon its release.
